Magic has such a greater luck element than guild wars that comparing along those lines is going to get silly. The variance from sealed decks isn't all that different compared to the RPS of matchups between constructed archetypes - arguably less so because you see greater consistency in day2 limited names - and that's not even going into the luck of topdecks/draws and what not. If you think any form of Magic is competitive, it's because you accept that skilled players can still distinguish themselves in an environment with random luck factors. Indeed, playing to the random probabilities is part of what makes for skill in card games - like say, poker.
