Dead game... right. So dead that you had to make an account just to... talk about it? You're not making any sense, but your rage is very, very funny. In a sad, pathetic way.

This.

If both teams were playing the same builds (as you've said), the outcome of the match was really determined on the player's skills. Isn't that what we wanted?

Also, if i'm right, the current guild halls for mAT are more likely splitting guild halls. You are not going to see a 8v8 on Frozen Isle often.

I tend to observe many GvG and as i see there are many (not much, but more than a few) succesful teambuilds.

PS: I love how 100% PvE players are QQ-ing about "this meta sucks gtfo anet" when they have no idea about it.

the same thing that happened to HA. the top teams only allow top players in and that means there are almost no new good players. Eventually when the top pvpers start to quit, the margin for variable builds shrinks too. since most people stick to pve nowadays instead of trying something that takes skill to make money, i don't think this will change anything. if you want to see some action, try doing something with a guild that doesn't have any experience. yes we loose almost every match, but its fun because the people are willing to go outside of meta and outside of something that's good. a little bit ago our guild( a pve guild mind you) invited a lv 14 player to come with us.

on a side note unless you restart the game with everything different, you won't see much change in whats been going on because people know the ins and outs too well.

I enjoy the current meta. It's fun to watch/catch spikes and see how important positioning and skill are when two teams are evenly composed.

this.

so two guilds happen to be running the same thing. what, are you pissed that there's no gimmick in that? that they can't build wars each other to death?

the group that plays better wins instead of who has the better build, oh god forbid. guild wars > build wars.

and the thing is most people seem to agree with op, ugh kids talk shit that the game has died. get real the only thing that's died is the player base i mean look at you.

Some of the best GvG matches were during a time when everyone and their mother's smurf were running basically the same korean war splits.

that's what it comes down to. eventually everyone running nearly the same thing. comes down to who can play it with more skill. happens after long enough period of time.

No, it's not. Not at all.

If you have ever faced a decent guild (inside the top 100) running that build on frozen you'd know that. Both teams attempt to split with templates that are stupidly powerful until both teams realize its pointless and then slug it out at the stand.

The only reason to play at the moment is if you want a gold cape or if you want RP's.

Because if you give me 1,000 skills, I expect to be able to use more than fifty to sixty of them in any given meta. It's the same reason college football is more interesting than the pros. You're far more likely to see something new when you watch different game plans clash than when you watch two coaches running the same game plan for the hundredth time.

If I wanted a level playing field, I'd play a shooter. The variety of options was the attraction and the competitive advantage of GW. Take that away, and the PvP becomes inferior to alternatives that were designed with a level playing field in mind.

It's not fundamentally worse than shooters & games designed for level playing fields. At a few times, GW's balance was pretty awesome and matches were great even if they were the same 64 skills (which has almost never happened, even when it looks like a perfect mirror match, each individual only has 8 skills and can often change most of them for personal preference). I grant that there is a subset who only cared about GW pvp for the variety of options, but that is certainly not the only draw. However the best times for GvG were with a good community and a healthy skill balance, and neither of those are likely to return in GW1.

Plus I like pro football much better than college, because you don't have people messing up all the time or getting away with goofy/bad stuff, and the best team doesn't have a fullback playing QB.

You must love those bspam vs bspam matches. Can't buildwars each other so its all player skill, right?

To OP: Today's meta is the most diverse one we've had in a long time. Going from spike metas like rawrspike and turrets, then the buffing of hexes leading to pressure meta hexgay and WE+SoH crap. Then probably the worst meta GvG has seen was the split meta with wk, mindblast eles then R/As. Finally we are back in spike'ish meta but looking back, its way better than what we've had to endure in the past year. People run spike, but they run DIFFERENT spike builds, not one rawrspike. If only the pressure and split sections could be diversified from hexes and mindblast...

edit: also, current TB contributes heavily to the staleness of split builds/tactics

Agreed in that this is the best meta for a long time, but still.. most good guilds are now playing the same w,w,r,r,e,mo,mo,rt spike build and most other builds are just inferior to this. It would be nice to see some variety in builds.

So yeah, I also just watched the same deal with two guilds using the same builds.
I admit, the build works and that's why everybody's using it.
Who would want to argue against a build that has proven itself many times?
Sure you can say it all comes down to player skill and who can run the build better than who.
I will almost admit it's a lot better than the former trends which were a pain to deal with.
However I would like to see a new thing come in, unfortunately it may take a little bit of time before someone makes a genius build that can run over the current meta.

People choose to play that build why should you care? If you want to have fun in this game just play BYOB.
