It's always been like that. There's a lot of hate towards the format from people that actually never played it, and they'll oppose bringing the format back even if it doesn't make a difference for them. In the end Anet listened to those people, believing that nobody played the format because it used heroes, so they removed it. Now, after all the hype for CA, even less people are playing it. Does that mean the format is inherently broken and should be removed? Of course not, it means that their conclusion about HB was wrong.

There are ways to bring HB back, but that involves discussing the topic with Anet and without all the people that couldn't care less about the format.

Actually a large number of people that have complained about Hero Battles have tried it. And I mean legitimately tried it, not played once and left. Even the the people that reached the top of the hero battle ladder were upset with the large number of things that needed to be done to the format to make it worth playing. The idea that the only people that found any faults in the format were idiots that never played it, is so far from the truth I can only imagine it coming from this man.

yea....i agree that not all the people hatin on hb are idiots, and these people that did play it legitimately did complain about it.
HOWEVER, complaining about HB≠wanting it to be removed. as much as these ppl dislike the problems in hb, they do not want it to be removed. the logical thing to do is fix the problems, not delete teh whole thing. cuz that woud be liek i go to get my car fixed, the autoshop trash it when i ask them to fix it

My 2cents :

We all know that some people disliked HB and some people liked it.
We all know that CA has replaced TA but not HB.
IMO, most of the people who play CA are RAers, HAers and GvGers due to the unranked being unnacepted into teams.
In HB, you didn't have to have HA/RA titles to play.
When CA was implemented, it gave people who already had a format to play(RA,HA,GvG) another format to play in.
When HB was implemented, it gave people who wouldn't usually be accepted into a team(due to rank discrimination) and people who never enjoyed RA, a format to play in.

So now, the RAers, HAers and GvGers are having more fun and have more to do and the people who were only able to play HB, have nothing other than boring ol' PvE.

I mean, even the 'elite players' realised HB was a joke and ran joke builds in the finals or simply resigned/left.

It's kinda like DirT forfeiting the mAT final vs GeAr except that wasn't on purpose.

At least in HB there was enough players to have a mAT final. If there was ever a tournament in CA they would have to start with teh final because probably only 2 teams will enter haha.

go RA then. You:
1) dont have to look for party members there
2) can test any kind of build you want to
3) will be surrounded by nubs so your failure wont be so gamebreaking.

CA can be fun if the builds one can make are good/enjoyable to play and one has the players to play with. Then again it can also suck when one or more of those prerequisites arent there. So?

the arena that was created solely for attracting pvp AS WELL AS pve players is RA - anything involving organized teams, with or without random skills available, will be less suitable for pve-only players. If anything, CA is a transitional arena between RA, (unfortunately removed) TA and finally, gvg.

I do think the people that made the finals and played joke builds did so to get ANet's attention. Even the Live Team acknowledged it in one of their update posts. Notice that the only mAT after ANet said they'd remove HB was hotly contested. What do you conclude from that?

@above - there's a difference. In RA you can play very well but still lose because your teammates aren't that good. Same applies in TA, GvG, HA, etc. HB is special in the sense that if you lose you are the only person to blame. You can blame the builds of course (everyone does at some point) but you're also the person who chose the builds to bring. Oh and you can also blame lag, but latency matters less given the format (heroes are unaffected).

What other PvP format can you think of where you win or lose solely on your own abilities?

I'd rather HB return (it shouldn't have been removed in the first place) but I doubt it's going to happen so yeah.

you can also blame the AI's poor execution and bad use of builds, apart from a very short list of the most (ab)used ones.
And builds matter a lot, even more since the power creep (talking in general) with woh, prage, teleports etc began.
well, if they bring HB back they'd also have to bring back TA. Either of that is unlikely to happen.

lol....entire gw is a joke, thats why people quit. any1 who thinks that gvg, ha are still serious and "elite" has no idea wtf is going on.
but then again it isnt fair to single out hb/ta and emphasize on their problems, the "elite players" who ran joke builds were trying to get attention and get them to fix the game.

If they wanted to revamp, it should have been TA to Codex TA (with no RA link) and HB to Codex HB. Oh and removed HB from the ZQ rotation.

That way they could have "some" variety in builds run (es, people would complain about having to redo builds every day, but even an OP build would only be for a day).

It would have left the opportunity for the people who want to compete but arent for whatever reason in a position to put a team together (be it 4 through to 8 for GvG).

HB added a variety of gameplay (whether you liked it or not) and by removing this option, it detracted from the game

You're missing the point ...

The point is that since both players have the same tools available to them, if you lose, you can only blame yourself (oh and you can blame bugs aka. Crossing). Maybe there's power creep and AI being bad and so on, but then your opponents are facing the same problems. Maybe you got out-buildwars'ed, but then you're the only one making them so it's your fault. Unlike TA for example you can't say "we lost because our Monk sucks". Can you think of another viable format where you're the only one playing? I suppose 1v1 is a natural candidate but although I personally enjoy that format it's hard to find anyone else who does.

I agree I'd rather they also bring back TA, but yeah either is unlikely to happen.
