Default Capping Ele IMS Variants

A while ago I tried running a Charge ele instead of the usual Fallback/Dash options. It was working pretty well, mostly because I was able to balanced stance out of KD-hell. (Funny how some melee builds will just leave you alone when they see balanced stance ;P )

I was able to clear shrines just about as fast as with an ele elite. I was wondering what you like using in terms of speed boosts.

(Also, this subforum is still open right? Even though there is only one other open thread?)

Flame djinns or featherfoot grace.

Storm djinns if you're air.

Armor of mist if you're water.

If you really want to run an IMS elite i'd take Incoming so you can chain it with Fall Back for almost perma 33% party IMS. WTB SH though

i run fall back with a 12+1+1, 8+1, 10 command split with r9 command shields. helps you be mobile and take less damage in the process

Sacrificing an elite slot for a speed boost that is marginally better than fallback is a pretty bad idea. You don't lose a lot of capping power, but you do miss out on kill power when you drop MB/SF/SH or what not making you a lot less useful in a combat situation.

Fallback ftw. Also if you insist on using a speed boost, Storm Djinn >> Flame Djinn, you can maintain it with no investment in attribute points.

With melees a fire ele bringing charge isn't bad. It isn't bad at all. Though this is team composition rather than individual build composition. Even then, with many people all bringing optimum individual builds, which includes individual speed boosts, bringing a party boost isn't that great for a skill slot.

Agreed with Rev. Your warriors will love you. Balanced is a nice addition, as are the spec shields.

I just use Dash on a E/A. I like it better cuz you can go faster than Djinn (I rarely use it in combat) and because I like to solo nuke stuff so the other 3 can just stand on the shrine before I leave again.

If everyone brings speedboosts I would simply go with flame djinns/armor of mist 'cos I can bring draw conditions/remove hex/wep of warding or other stuff that makes your monk happy. As for variations, I usually run Mirror of Ice water ele, also on fort maps.

There's a couple of pros on a water ele, in the case of alands lux side when you start in the base you can actually outcap 4 ppl + npc's coming out of the gate by simply snaring shit so it can't reach the shrine. When you make your escape from clusterf*ck situations snares come in handy, and you can singlehandedly disable a caster shrine with maelstrom while your melee kills the npc's. You get slower nuking of shrines, but a lot more ways to keep annoying melee out of your hair.

Fire eles are pretty awesome in combination with knockdowns on melee, because it helps you dispose of ppl fast provided you know how to spike. They are more fragile though and more prone to interrupts. A good ranger can keep a fire ele preoccupied for quite a while significantly reducing said eles damage output while the water ele would simply slap blurred vision on the ranger.

Some people even use earth eles for unsteady ground and eruption, but energy management on earth bars kinda sucks and it's slooooooooow. Ebon hawk->stoning is godawfully annoying though.

If I'm running MB then "Fall Back" but if I go SH then Dash simply because I tend to solo cap if I run SH.
