Exclamation And I thought the update would be beneficial.

I was one waiting anxiously for the new update that I thought would be very good for the game in a balancing type of way.

Well, yeah im glad the bspike, and ranger spike got nerfed. I thought this would make people run what should be called balanced, instead, the balance has changed to a brainless type gameplay from obs'ing top battles.

Theres one thing I have a problem with. From examining top battles/mAT's it looks like Dom mesmers are being pushed out of meta (I don't need a reason for why people aren't running them, what I want to know is why make an update that pushes them out of meta? did the test krewe not foresee this?).

In my eyes in any team that wants to call themselves a balance, a dom should be a staple.

This update seems to force them out of meta, making the game more brainless button push spamming rather than actually using skills strategically, making the game once again, more based on skills on your bar (pure damage), rather than actual skill level of the player. I guess this is what we are talking about in guild wars two when they talked about "Simplifying PvP".

It's been a sad day so far, seeing the dom position replaced by things like a paragon? I just recently started gvg'ing and I play dom, and now with this update if everyone stops running dom, I probably won't even continue playing the game anymore.

I've seen all kinds of teams ranging from 4 or 5 monks (nice balance there guys(no offense if you need this kind of backline you shouldn't be in mAT's, this is an example of in game skill at its highest level), 4 eles, Para>Dom in Onlyphyscalcharactersiswhatwecallbalance.

And not a single dom mesmer. It almost takes me back to when I first bought the game and read the instruction manual reading about mesmers being the hardest class to learn, and can be the class that takes the most skill to play, depending on what your bar looks like, of course.

Removing dom, i know wasnt the purpose of the update, but evidentially has became the outcome, thus removing the most skilled class from what we used to call balanced, which has now became 4 offensive physical classes, a single midline defensive caster, with your average backline. Thats not balanced, and thats not making the game to where skills have to be used more strategically like I was hoping this update would do, as anet were trying to achieve.

Instead we now have a game that all classes in the what we would call balanced requires the intelligence of a newborn to play. 321 press "t" "space bar" "2,3,4" NOW.

So grab your axes guys, we are at the point in this game where we call cleave spamming, and skills similar to damage spam" balanced, and requires skill" (really this only takes a blindfolded person with his fingers on the right keys and a headset on to follow spikes). This game has been "simplified" to the equivalency of something like an 8v8 Mortal Kombat match.

What do we do now? Finish him three two one cleave-chiblains.

That's ridiculous. The meta is supposed to change. It's what makes gameplay more interesting.

Learn to play other roles and other professions.

I learned to play other proffessions before playing dom, you have to know the meta and how things work before you can manange a dom mesmer, or am i missing something?

The meta is supposed to change, but is it supposed to change to brainless damage spam? No.

I'm wondering now if I can make a pd with occasional spike assist (powerspike + eburn) work inplace of pb.

Balanced in short is now a physicalway.

Which is not what some of us would call balanced at all.

Dom mez won the finals, was in several semifinals as well.

Seems everyone is worried about party heals with recup and spikes being nerfed, meaning they usually shoehorn in a midline that can do some kind of party healing. That means either dom or def ele has to go from classic "balance" (in finals case, it was ele that was replaced by para)

I'm more concerned that word of censure made it to the finals.

The guild im in just told me about pb being in finals. Grats to ym for running it and winning.

"I'm more concerned that word of censure made it to the finals."

When I saw the finals I hoped to god ym won, 4 monks does not deserve gold cape.

Before the finals, I saw no pb.

We ran pblock the whole mat, think we ran it in the semi-finals aswell - pretty sure AA and co would of been running pblock aswell so im not quite sure what your talking about. The variation in builds this mAT was alot more then usual, people playing split / spike / balanced / smites.

It's two days after a skill update. Wait a few days for the meta to settle before you start thinking that the sky is falling.

skill updates do not focus on shoving any single class out of the meta >_< it focuses on toning down overpowered builds. if you feel that the update completely made ur current class useless, then learn how to play a new one. otherwise, quit. we don't really care. more than likely ur skill level is lacking anyways if you think that dom mesmers have been owned. *sigh*

Dom mes is the only thing I've been playing for the past ~2 and a half years. If there wasn't a mesmer class I would have quit the game along time ago from boredom of simplicity.

I just started GvG When i bought a new computer and graphics card (about 800 dollars to be a better mes and to be able to gvg as mes), and i get called a bot most of my games.

This post is based from observing the latest guild battles and at's, where you see a huge lack of dom as to being compared to pre-update. The same team builds alot of other guilds are looking at and trying to make something from for the new meta(mostly, no doms).

There was a lack of dom when everyone was running the 2 para midline as well...

Dom hasn't been a serious contender in mATs for a long time. This one had more than usual placing well. In the past it's just been something people like to play on ladder or dailies for whatever reason, probably because they got bored of 4 months of the same spike builds.

Sky's not falling, but just another 6 months with R/A with shattering assault both in "balanced" and in sway.

It's two days after a pretty large update, and from obsing the finals today, it's clear some guilds are taking advantage of the lack of a discernible meta by running these builds you consider unbalanced. As Lemming said, wait a while before you QQ more.

Also, honor won this month's mAT.

Part of what you're seeing is the difference between pulling out the most broken or best buildwars builds on the monthly, and playing more even or balanced builds every other day of the month either for getting better, actual enjoyment of playing guildwars, or to avoid being built against easily on the monthly day.

Plus the other answers, that a fair amount of teams still ran dom mesmers, mAT right after skillbalance, YM sticking with fairly 'honor' build, etc. Also keep in mind that buffs upon buffs in the past mean that below each layer of broken builds lays more broken builds that were just surpassed in strength or popularity, and it would take a few waves of targeted nerfs to actually bring the game back in line better.

Yes, we ran pblock on a few maps.

You, sir, are officially the most boring person I know. And, [email protected] You would have quit the game from "boredom of simplicity" if you hadn't been playing the same class/style for 2 1/2 years?

Shit.....you're ridiculous.

If the energy cost was 5, sure, but at 10 energy, n ty...

It's one of those skills that "feel" are doing big damage, but in reality aren't. If that were the case, people would be running blood necros to spam vamp gaze (rip life steal :' ), Blood drinker, etc for regular pressure.

The ONLY reason why it works is because of smite attribute line, and even then it's mediocre pressure at best. (3 Words of censure later and you're out of energy. Let alone be able to use smite hex/condi)

If you are using it to pressure then you're doing it wrong its a great spike skill doing 75 armour ignoring damage.
