Unfortunately, the other arenas that were meant specifically for newer players are completely deserted. Random Arena is for everyone. The term "Random" doesn't just apply to the profession or build you should expect to be teamed with, but also the players - be it newbies or rank 10 gladiators. Anyone reporting you for having an inferior build or for sucking is abusing the system. Unfortunately, the system is faulty and there isn't much you can do to prevent abuse other than trying not to provoke people to abuse it (i.e. using wiki builds, not sucking).

Pretty much what everyone else said. The game has been out for almost 5 years now, so people aren't very accepting of new players. But stick with it, don't be discouraged and you'll eventually get better ^^

The irony is that even that will get you insulted, LOL. I say screw 'em. Use the wiki if you want, don't use the wiki if you don't want.

I am re-assured. One of the reasons I chose GW over WoW is because I heard that WoW players were pretty immature. That may be unfair, but I must say that I am very pleased with the GW gang so far.

I'm surprised that you can be reported fo leeching because of your build. (That's what skills you have in your skill bar isn't it?) Surely, that's a matter of personal preference. Anyway, I only had the skills I'd been given up to that point and I was trying to use all of five or six of them.

Thanks again.

I think that may be your problem. Are you playing PvP before PvE? That's not a good idea. In GW, every time you learn a skill or get an item in PvE it is unlocked for you in PvP. A lot of veterans have everything unlocked ( me being on of them ), and thus we have free reign to be whatever we want. When you go in with a slew of skills just because they happen to be all you have the reality is you aren't going to be very useful to your team. people will get pissed and while it's true that the leech report system is being abused, you are partially at fault. Go unlock some more skills first. Just an hour of PvE and you will have a bunch. Level 1 newbie areas hand out skills to newbs like candy.

The PvP community is very elitist. The "more mature than WoW" community exists mostly in PvE. In places like Heroes Ascent especially if I were to join a PuG I would be expected to be able to load whatever build the team gives me...that is of course assuming I have my rank title on. You have no rank as a newb and thus HA is probably out of the question. GvG instead ( it's better anyways ).

Happened to me a couple times, reported a few myself in frustration. Don't worry about it, it won't get you suspended.
No but it could get you suspended.

Using the /report system to report someone, simply because they are not good at the game is a clear violation of the rules and regulations for Guild Wars. I share your frustration when it comes to people now doing well, especially in random arena, where it happens all to often. But be carefull with filing a false report, NOT CONTRIBUTING is not leeching if they are casting spells, or swinging on the enemy. There is a difference between a bad build and an AFKER, or someone purposefully running an invincibuild to draw out on time.

To the OP: youre fine man, dont sweat it.

Honestly....stay away from random arenas, Everyone there has an ego trip because after HB and TA has been removed the Elitest glad point farmers are there...And if you run a detestable build, or act noobish in any way they most likely will report you for leeching...Testing new RA builds I tend to get reported....Hell i even got dishonorable because aparantly forgetting to take the /Mo off of my warior peopl ethought i was a wammo >__>

I was running a full warior build, now honestly speaking they dont give two shits, i got reported the times I was in the arena, and i had the team leave before the match started, And got a few PM's saying Uninstall the game wammo noob XD i found it helarious but none the less they dont give a crap about anything you do, aparantly you need to be an elitest PRO 5 year veteran like them in order to play it...and when youve played for a while, i guess its all wiki builds now, and experamenting is out of the question.

There are simply to many big ego in this game and by far most are in Random Arena. They will judge you as noob for one skill without knowing your build or just for no reason. Mostley because there frustated over bad loses/palying to long and getting no rewards for winning spree's. And same goes with leeching. And if they see you as a noob they will report you for leeching out of frustating or simply being an a**. The abuse of this report system is simply to big. But I don't know anyone that got banned for getting reported with this in game system. And personal I have no trust with guildwars support and the report system in game. So therefore I think it would pretty save and you would surely not getting banned for some leech reports while you were doing your thing in Random Arena.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Leeching

A faction leecher may do this by just joining and waiting, or by walking around to avoid becoming noticed.

The only problem is proofing it really is leeching. Pressing "Tab" and "space" for auto attacking, and not using skills or anything on purpose because of afk, is indeed a form of leeching.

This is so extremely unlikely I doubt(ed) anyone would take it into consideration.

And it's 'punished' as such by giving me 2 Dishonor points (if the rest of the team doesn't agree). Big deal, huh.

EDIT: Got teamed up with an Obsi Flesh ele today. What's your solution to griefing, if not /report?

When you purchase a multi-player game that's ~4.5 years old, you have to accept that most of the people you're like to play with will be self-important asshats.

Random Arenas are meant to provide a basic form of PvP without any of the barriers to entry that other forms have where people can get a taste for fighting other players rather than computers. Despite this, there are people who take RA VERY VERY SERIOUSLY, and will react viciously towards anyone who does not share their point of view. This is how they choose to live their lives, and there's not really much that anybody else can do except to try and have fun in spite of them.

It's also helpful to realize that if these people get such severe cases of nerd rage from RA, it's probably because they don't have any friends in game to play other formats with, or any friends in real life to do other stuff with.
