Well just because we don't want AB to be boring doesn't mean we take it really seriously. I just play for fun but because people are finding the maps boring, less people play, waiting times increase and it's not fun any more.

Pointless comment is pointless...

On topic: Random map rotation would be great and would hopefully bring people back to AB.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about town control, thats determined by where the boarder is and, as we know, the boarder changes depending on AB wins. So if the idea were to be implemented, which I highly doubt, they could just set the boarder and Luxon and Kurzick get an equal share of towns.

Just make the handicaps each level more difficult to overcome, they were there for balance anyways right?

Stronger handicaps could work for a bit but it will come back to the same situation we have now unless kurz get good.

Soon enough people will have their titles maxed, and AB will be dead.

That or people with no elites, w/mo, and bad players in general will run rampant.

A timed map change would be best in my opinion. No fun playing Grenz all day.

fyi, noone plays AB for faction, I'm in one of the largest AB alliances on lux side and most already have their title maxed .

Theres faster ways to farm faction.

That's not really the point though. If the faction gain was changed it'd be more active, less waits, more scrubs to farm and probably more map variety if that wasn't changed around too due to more scrubs playing against more scrubs.

Also, don't tell me you don't like numbers going up, even if they're unneeded.
It's still more rewarding to see +5000 than +1250.

I can only speak for myself but I honestly don't care what the number is. I don't even bother to pick up zaishen quests for any format. All I care about is getting good matches, preferably winning them though. The amount of faction I get is completely irrelevant, I already have 6 seconds or so on my "save yourselves!" and that's about the only benefit of a high kuku rank anyway.

If I could trade faction for girls(eh, doesn't even have to be plural tbh) I'd be more inclined to have another perspective.

Yeah I have a whole network of people I know that play AB with me and none of them do it for the points, the faction, the z quest, the experience, or the balthazar faction. We all just want a dynamic and casual match that's easy to set up that you don't need to be on TS or vent for.

I don't think it's too much to ask that it's not always the same 2 maps, grenz and ancestral.

You guys who play for pure fun are few. That's why you are here complaining about lack of opponents. Up your rewards, steal from JQ/FA and you will be better off.

I guess it's true. There are obviously people like you, the thing is most people will happily enjoy getting a higher number reward, even if that higher number changes absolutely nothing.

A couple thoughts:

-The situation with the back-and-forth between Ancestral and Grenz is somewhat player-caused. I think it was the illustrious Shawn that mentioned this in the other thread - the AB powerhouse players/guilds tend to play Kurz when it's Ancestral and Luxon when it's Grenz. This is part of why it only bounces between these two maps. Not to say Anet isn't at fault - IIRC, they implented a new map change algorithm awhile back that introduced "momentum" once a certain faction pushed so deep into an opposing faction's area. Otherwise the map would end up bouncing around beach/salts... or something.

-Introducing a scheduled map cycle seems like a good solution, but keep in mind that the aforementioned players will simply go to whichever side has the map advantage... leading to long wait times for that side. You also might end up with huge population disparity on certain maps. For instance - who would play Luxon on Ancestral when you know in < 3 hours it'll be Grenz. A randomized cycle might be better, but the Live team loves their lore. I propose undoing the momentum change, and see how that goes.

-I'd do just about anything to get rid of the dead hours - not when there aren't any players (though that's annoying as well), just when there are only a handful of bad players on one side and TONS of players on the other. It's a lose-lose situation: Either wait 20 mins per match and have a chance at winning, or try and carry 8 bad players. Pretty frustrating. Population increase across the board brought in by increased rewards would go far here.

This is why I've quit AB. I did nothing but AB for over a year and loved it, but that was when the chances of getting a good team on your side were the same as getting a good team on the other side. Balanced games are fun; games where you either steamroll the tabteams on the other side with your synced allies or your tabteam allies get steamrolled by your synced opponents are no fun at all.

Worth the cost? Dunno. I'd rather have Luxon/Kurzick 'skill levels' equalize so the format as a whole grows healthier...
Adding to this.

Used to be one would try to advance his/her own side for the higher rewards on enemy maps - but I think all would agree the Alliance faction/title really doesn't mean shit.

Assuming the LT would leave the momentum mechanic in place, which as stated above they likely will, what would be a good reward/incentive for the Kurz to finally get their act together?

2 issues with current AB A: when they made the map for rotation, they only made 1 for each "level" of border penetration. This can't be fixed now cause new maps are apparently too hard to make or something. B: AB used to thrive on border pushing, luxons used to be the ones on the ropes all the time, till they changed the border pushing formula, then it was very fair, went back and forth all the time. They need to do that again. When the AB was the z mish a few days ago, there were some good kurz teams, and they had the map to saltspray. but it went back as soon as the zmish ended.

The only fair way I can think of that doesn't totally make AB map selection random or arbitrary is factor in the wins from Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood. Kurzicks usually dominate there, if they made those wins a factor good luxon players would either have to infuse these areas (instead of the defects that inhabit the places now)or redouble their efforts in AB and you'd the the line bounce a lot more.

2 changed I wish would be made regardless is more faction rewards from AB, and some sort of scoreboard so you know how the last few matches went, who fought, and who failed ect. and who's going to pusht he border.

The staleness of map rotation has really put me off AB, especially when it's an easy win map that stays the same for 3 days.

I take back what I said. The only difference between Luxon JQ and AB is that JQ has the empty player slots filled by bots. :/ There just aren't enough active luxons anymore to support any of the formats.

The unique solution is to kick 95% of (bad) kurzick players. The rest will be decent enough to wipe the red.

Borders will move !

Teams with consecutive wins get bigger rewards. It would encourage better thinking about the teams on both sides, and as a result it would benefit the Kurzicks more because they have much more room for improvement.
