Default Returning to GW.

Hey guys, I'm coming back to GW soon and I play a derv. Are there any tips you can give me for PvP on a derv? I can get any mix of weapons and armor I need, I just have no idea how to play my class.

2 viable options:

Wounding Strike

Avatar of Lyssa + daggers.

Neither are hard to play, and should even require a "how-to", as you litteraly have to simply press skills as they recharge. Obviously changing targets when protted, etc... the obvious.

Here is some better advice: Get rid of this mentality

If you don't know how to play this class, then at least pick something that is more useful. Most PvP players end up playing multiple classes. Thankfully this is easy in GW with PvP characters. At the very least, to have any success in PvP, you need to be willing to play outside your comfort zone.

I still play reapers sweep derv with warrior secondary (bull strike & wild blow) in GvG from time to time. You do have to rune with + armor to make it run properly though (ie, 85armor instead of 70 through gear). Having the stance remover is very handy at times & reapers sweep can hit for a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOton of dmg (130 on gl).

Dervishes lack utility [i.e.: knock-downs, interrupts, etc.]. I'd recommend you roll a Devastating Hammer Warrior instead:

Enraged Charge - Activate this and spear any foe to get 3-4 adrenaline up front,
Dev Hammer - After all adren. skills are fully charged up, open with this elite hammer attack skill,
Flail - If Dev Ham succeeds, activate for increased attack speed,
Crushing Blow - while foe's on the ground, use this to cause pressure on healers,
Yeti Smash - after he gets up, hit him with this attack to kd him again [aka: knock-lock],
Overbearing Smash - Use any time foe's kded, best used after 2nd kd though,
[Optional] - Rush, Shock, Bulls, etc.
[Optional/Res Sig] - Rush, Shock, Bulls, etc.

If a foe gets away from your knocklock, immediately swap to your spear/shield for defense and adrenaline build-up! It's better to do this to take full advantage of flail while still on.

Hammer warriors have far more utility than dervishes [i.e.: kds, daze, armor, etc.], tbh...
