Lightbulb Arena Rotation

Random, Team, Codex and Hero arenas all have fans and detractors alike, what if Arenanet put them on a cycle? It could be weekly or whatever seemed most fitting. Considering that Anet needs to consolidate the PvP base into as few options as possible to cut down on queue times this could help greatly and I think this is a good way to give everyone the type of gameplay they want.

What are your thoughts?

only problem with this is when it hits codex times(or the un-popular ones w/e they may be.) the only real difference is that you cut out the people that do the other areans every week. So lets say its Random arena week. People that play codex arena or hero battles(which is gone anyway ) just wont play that week. So personally in my opinion it wont solve anything.
so /unsigned(tho its not a horrible/terribad idea)

I think it would just push more people away from PvP rather than move the playerbase to a certain format.

Back in the old days, TA was what you did when you didn't have enough people on for GvG or HA. Before its removal, it was a format that you only played if you were into it.

Hypothetically, if TA and HB were reintroduced, that wouldn't change. You'd only have the diehards waiting for their format to rotate in to play.

Yes , but at least the diehards would be able to play their formats 1 week/month, considering some people just stopped playing due to TA and HB deleting.
However , i would not introduce RA in that rotation , since then , like when it's codex/ta rotation , you won't be able to do much in pvp on dead hour ...

Interesting suggestion anyway , but adding back TA/HB would be easier , thus i doubt this will be implemented

Not so good suggestion.. if Anet is gonna make some changes about that it would be better to simply remove Codex which is dead and implement HB back which was always popular and never had under 100 players in any AT no matter the hours. Rotation would just be silly idea and would take more than few hours of coding while adding HB back is 20-30 min of coding.

The rotation could be done in this way: two arenas always up, one week RA and Codex, the next week TA and Hero.
Like this you have:
the two areas like they are
always one 4 people arena (a week TA and the next CA)
always a one person format (RA or HB, RA one persone in the sense that you start alone)
always one place to to gladiator point

instead, just make a bbway arena, i'm pretty sure that would result in HA getting a population boost

plus a bbway hat would be nice, a monobrow would be appropriate

I've always been sympathetic towards the few die hard TA players who had their format replaced by something that's awful and was aborted from the start, but the truth is the skill buffs since TA closed would only exacerbate the problems it had. You couldn't even play HB in its final months because everyone was using it as a resign title farm.

I was thinking along these lines of having two Arenas open at a time and switching them out. Perhaps even adding new game types? Personally, I'm a big capture the flag fan and would like to see that gametype at it's core introduced to GW with it's own maps. Yes there are gametypes that use flag capping as a side objective but it isn't the same. I don't want to see weird twists of the gametype just good old fashioned CTF.

This is partially true. I was one of those people who played TA when I was bored or their wasn't enough on to GvG or HoH however, there is certainly a lot of people who favorited the TA format. The idea here is that players get variety but not at the expense of long queue times. I disagree that it was a good idea to remove HB and TA, they should still offer those gametypes to those that enjoyed playing them, even if that means the best way to implementing them is on a rotation.

Lemming's post is correct.

As a consequence to doing your "hypothetical fix" to the situation. Think of how many fans they would kill off who have no interest whatsoever in playing organized PvP and just like the pure randomness of Random Arenas.

You would be depriving them for 2 weeks of something I know hardcore players do on a daily basis.

If I were one of those RA hardcore players I'd definately be looking to a new game.

Think about it.

GW atm is 90% a game for ra scrubing and 10 % for "organized" play.

given Anet's mindset regarding TA and its worshipping of RA (they actually make an argument for having no healers on GW2 based off how monks are "overpowered" in ra and how they prevent players to become good players because those poor players have to "attack the mo" right off the start always and thus cant play well at all.) and that the devs have the mindset of a typical american RA scrub, we should all be aware of how gw2 pvp will be like, given those facts.

but hey, at least the countless hordes of ra fans will have a brand new toy to play with. thank god WoW and lotro have monthly fees, or else GW and GW2 would be in for some lonesome years.

think about it.

They are simply taking the path of least resistance. Highly competitive players are demanding and difficult to please. Game balance is complex and consumes a lot of time and resources to get it right, along with having having staff that are capable of getting it right (we can safely say that never happened). PvE players and casual PvP players can be pleased with trinkets and game play that is reduced to hitting buttons in order to win / get stuff.
