removing hero battles because of the zkey abuse punished people who actually cared about HB whilst just taking away a revenue stream from those pathetic enough to farm the red resign, replacing them with CA was typically anet ineptitude

great way to confirm misgivings in anet's long term game strategy

Yes, every night I go in, meet a team, win, meet that team again, win again, then no opposing party all night long... it's a lot of fun, please notice the sarcasm

Provided of course you win, when you lose its even MOAR FUN .

Nah but sriously, sealed deck eliminates all the lames, but it also makes tactics really shallow. Example, I played hammer warr with my guild that had enraged smash and overbearing smash. Monks that day had no condition removal. KD monk, daze, gg game over. Same tactic every game, if there were ever people to play against.

I play it once in a while. I would play it more often, but I'm busy with my grind most of the time, so...

Let's see.. last time I played CA was with guildies on double weekend.

Setup for half an hour, build wasn't good enough, copied something better, setup again 15mins, played some, tweaked build/armors/tactic for 15min, played some more, got solid with the build, CODEX CHANGED
Still we go at it again, re-setup, tweaking, etc, etc, we run into 2 syncing teams, we get some cons by messing up their sync, everyone agrees this is retarded and goes off.

I think this sums up the average codex experience.

I've been wanting to play it but every time I go there the place is almost completely empty or everyone is just AFK and no one forming groups.

I got as far as setting half of my skills lol, then got raged at not being able to use all my skills and went back to real PvP.

Not really sure how this is a tick against Codex. Tactics are incredibly shallow everywhere right now. At least the successful tactic in Codex changes every six hours. Plus that was a bad pool, which you can identify before you even start. I find weak disruption-heavy pools to be the most tactically rich--that is, there's a lot of disruption, but it's not very good. Or just run four Gales.

Codex is just useless.. only few syncers still play it. Introducing this area was complete fail from Anet and it should be removed ASAP.
I played it first few days when it was introduced but since then never again because it's pure rubbish.

Thing is when you wait hours there to form and find an opponent , and you fight mo/w , rt/a ( with weps ofc) , dervish linebacker and ranger , well sure , it's fun arena . Maybe was just unlucky that day on skill pool , but when you know you're gonna fight that team 5 times ( hoping they don't find an antibuild ) , .. i wonder how the few people playing codex ( 5-6 people ) can enjoy it srsly...

Apart of that , why don't people go there to do RR aswell? Considering there would be many ppl in Codex , it would be really easy to farm the 6k balthazar pts ( + since almost noone cares of doing 5 consec there) ....

I don't see any reason for Codex Arenas not being removed. It's by far the most disappointing arena yet [in my opinion anyway].

Everyone who says this Arena was a dissappointment either hasn't played during a good meta yet, or hasn't played at all.

The inactivity and it's abuse aside, the format works due to the way it promotes versatility and out-of-the-box thinking. It is, however, ruined by the fact that there is a severe disbalance between skills in Guild Wars.

Hexes, for example, are completely overpowering when ran in masses (hex covering is the one of the most degenerative mechanics in GW), and when there isn't even hex removal available for monks, it usually means hexway is the way to go.

In a hexway, it often comes down to who can get most 40/40's off, and who has the luckiest "mini"build wars going on. So when the meta is shit, I'll definatly agree the format, at that time, is shit.

However, there have been metas where people ran a cripslash, a Ranger, a mes or bsurge and a Monk. Playing in these metas is almost extatic and comes close to competiting the most fun PvP in Guild Wars.

The fact that you have to wait for a good meta in order to make this arena even remotely enjoyable is utterly retarded. Codex is an absolute joke.

To stay on topic, I played when it first came out but when I realized that the current available skills were chosen at random (or seemed like it) I just stopped going. No, I will not play a format where having condition removal and other staples is not guaranteed.

I've played Codex, and I absolutely hated it for various reasons:
I hate the time it takes to assemble teams [by default]
I hate using skills that have zero synergy [i.e.: elementalists without attunements, imbalanced skill pools in general, etc.]
I hate limitations in general... [excluding existing content, as opposed to creating new content, is not exactly appealing to me]

I think that Anet should just turn CA into a costume brawl type arena. Fixed, balanced skills, no gimmicks, no assembling teams, just click enter & go would be far better than the current trash.

Yes , problem is that generally in that format , the skills pool was terribly made ( you could usually find bsurge/ blinding dervish whereas monk couldn't get any hex remove or condition remove) .
Actually , i noticed that usually , either support skills are too poor and damage skills too strong , or support skills too good ( WoH , LS , dwayna kiss , dismiss , cure hex available ) , whereas sins and warriors cant even make a correct damage deal. It would have been nice to make maybe some thing like in costume brawl...

yeah so i played it the day it came out, and like 2 more times after,
why just play on the RA maps? couldn't they mix it up with some of the good TA ones too.

eh my opinoin is TA > Codex
poop > Codex
Hero Battles > Life
Codex is about = to stubbing my toe
