Take zealous off for sundering (i use zealous for recovering from decap). Some say to bring an ebon against wars. A v.s. blind shield, could bring v.s. others too (fire, piercing etc). Stonefist if you kd. I use sentinels because i run sup strengh (overkill maybe). Clarity nice, Restoration not necessary (in relic running might be useful). Sup vig & minor in axe/ham/sword is what i do.

Sunder, sup str, please don't take the advice of the player above at heart.

If you're running a knockdown other than Backbreaker (Bull's, shock, hammer), always run a stonefists insignia on your hands. (Hands or feet, not head because all the hits on your head are auto-crit, thus you're better off having armor on your head piece)

If you can meet the 13 Str requirement (Usually you run 14 Str, 13 axe or smth, atleast I do) always run Sentinel's Insignia on all the other pieces. If you have exactly 13 str, you might want to reconcider because in certain formats (Mainly RA and GvG), weakness is pretty common, and will effectivly reduce you to a 80 AL elemental target. (Cuz you'll only have 12 Str under weakness)

General rule of the thumb is: Either run Vampiric or Zealous (on whatever weapon you use). There is few exceptions though, those being conjures (conjure flame, frost, etc) you obviously run a weapon in the element of the conjure.
Against Warriors, it could be handy to swap to an elemental weapon aswell. (because warriors have lesser elemental armor) The type doesn't really matter, but Ebon is by far the most uncommon types of elemental damage in GvG. Then again, whenever I see someone ping his elemental weapon, it's almost always Ebon, so it might be smart for everyone to have an earth shield anyways.

As for shields, bring armor+10 vs everything, reduce blind 20%, reduce cripple 20%. As a matter of fact, any extra shield you bring might come in handy one way or the other.

For example, a HP +45 (stance) shield is concidered pretty useless (almost noone brings it), but when you're a warrior running away from an elementalist, and you have Enraging charge up, and you're degening from Fire, the 15 extra HP ( as opposed to HP+30) might save your life. Same for the HP +60 while hexed shield.

Do you have a source for this? I've never heard of this.

Think I read it on wiki. Looked for it but can't seem to trace it. So could have been wrong on my part. Not that it matters that much anyways.

one out of every 8 hits are on the head. According to you, this means that an attack has to have at least a 12.5% of critting no matter the weapon spec. I haven't tested this to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case

for axe:
vamp axe
zealous axe
ebon axe
+5e furious spear

for hammer:
sundering hammer
ebon hammer
axe or sword set
+5e furious spear+shield

swap between these shields accordingly (and any other +armor shields you want to make as well, but these are the most important) :

reduce blind shield
reduce cripple shield
+armor vs slashing shield
+armor vs piercing shield
+armor vs fire shield

if you're running a shock axe, run radiant insignias. if you're running anything else (hammer, axe or sword without shock) then run sentinel's insignias.

obviously run stonefist on one piece for both of those setups as well.

runes: +1str headpiece for hammer to have 14 str 13 hammer, +1 axe headpiece for axe, sup vigor, reduce blind rune, reduce cripple rune, minor str rune

Recently I ran some tests for certain skills/spells that there was thought only hit certain areas (Not sure if they used to, but the 3/8 2/8 1/8 1/8 1/8 % chance on the wiki was correct for everything I tested). Hits on the head have the same chance of critting as every other hit.

Also if you think about it, if it was true then at lower level weapon skill the lowest your crit rate could reach would be 1 in 8.

Armor: if you are at 14 strength run sentinel's, at 13 strength it is a bit buildwarsy, dependent upon if your opponent has weakness, how frequent the weakness, and when it is applied. Clarity and restoration runes are your friends.

Weapons: Vampiric, sundering, furious, zealous, two different elemental. Very commonly +30hp, also very commonly +5 armor, check the meta, right now +armor seems to be default. Furious spear. Longbow/flatbow. (High priority to vamp and elemental hafts, zealous is better on axe/sword than hammer, sundering is debated often but never used on swords)

Weapon inscriptions: short answer: 15^50 and that's it
Long answer: there have been arguments for others and while there are times that amazing weapon swapping can make use of them the only one that has ever had any good argument is buildwarsing 20^hexed vs hex heavy builds, but in those cases having a deep hex removal would negate that bonus and buildwarsing against hexes usually involve a deep removal. Go ahead and get 20v50 and 20^hexed only if you are amazing at micro (you aren't) and have perfected the rest of the game (you haven't).

Shields: +30 hp in every flavor of +armor, blind and cripple reduced also mandatory. Other mods on shields can have uses, though can be a bit buildwarsy. At least one +60 while hexed shield. Unless you are heavy in NPC's chances are the - physical damage mods(5^20%, 2 stance, 2 enchant, 3 hexed) are going to be worth less than one of the +armor shields, even if you are heavy in npc's its still likely the appropriate +armor shield will have more mileage than one of the - physical damage mods.
