Yeah but in GvG melee will switch off of a target that has guardian.

Not so much in RA. Actually get more mileage out of the guardian there.

If you get melee in the other team, and if they don't switch off a target that's Guardian'ed they probably aren't very good anyway and you can heal through their damage ...

if your team has decent positioning getting a melee to switch targets for a couple of seconds is as good as them just autoattacking through guardian

I devise my bars and strategies to work with terrible players, against terrible players.

Whereupon you run pure heal without prots in RA. I don't get your point.

I gave the pure heal bar a fair go but the lack of guardian just really didn't go well with me. I'll stick to my hybrid : ). I respect people who can use the pure heal bar well though, although I really don't see it happening without a pure sync team. Without guardian thouse eles that sit still with a warrior training them on a 40/40 set or even a staff just eat damage and drain your energy.

with those eles that sit with a warr training them in staff or 40/40 set you wont come far in either case.

It's really sad actually, if people weren't so utter shit, a hybrid would be infinitely better, but alas retardation screws over most competent people when they have to cooperate.

I would actually say pure heal is much better if you have any semblance of positioning. I don't waste guardian on myself because I'm hardly in range to get hit, if they want to hit me they have to run a good distance to do so, they often can't hit bulls for **** and I just generally kite them to death.

Guardian is helpful I admit but unnecessary, with guardian you will lose to pressure teams/hexways, with redbar you are more versatile and effective against all teams.

Of course prot's are needed versus teams that can land bulls, pressure and spike efficiently but in RA it's just a waste of time.

I just hop on my Healer's Boon monk for the lulz and just red bar everything to death with PS, Soothing, Guardian, Vigorous Spirit, Dwayna's Kiss (or Cure Hex), Dolyak's, Bonetti's, and HB. I've become quite amazed at how well I've done with this build, too! LOL

Back when TA wasn't terrible, they did all run hybrid monks.

When it became a gimmickfest of our gimmick offence kills your gimmick offense first, then no, monks really didn't matter besides having one that could save you from one gimmick attack.

But we're talking about the RA of today, not back when "TA wasn't terrible", aren't we?

Don't be retarded.
I never mentioned TA, and RA doesn't become TA just because players don't hypothetically suck, it's still random.

Gimmicks can be stopped by a well-placed prot of many kinds. If the gimmick team deals damage well over 10% of a players health, then it would be smart to have one of your casters carry Protective Spirit or Spirit Bond [i.e.: Necro, Ele, Monk, etc.]. RoF and Life Sheath are also amazing if your timing on it is great. The only problem I'd give any kind of credit to is if the opposition has some kind of insane kiting or defense balling theme going on. I remember Shove Spikes, where they all had some type of shadow-stepping, running, and anti-hex/condition skills which made chasing them down way more difficult than anything else.

...*sigh* I still miss TA despite it's broken gimmickfests. I'll tell ya what though, I definitely don't miss the whole "facing TA after 10 RA wins." I'd rather things stay as they are now, tbh.

Define "don't hypothetically suck"? Do you mean that they bring skills that shutdown other players as opposed to just do damage? Do you mean they lineback for you when you are under pressure? do you mean they switch to their shield sets before getting KD'd/ kite away from damage without eatting bulls? because the more of those questions that you answer "yes" to the better a pure healing prayers monk becomes over a heal/prot hybrid

The thing is, in a world of noobs who attack through prots, hybrid is better, so there's no real argument there.

In a hypothetical world where people actually respond to prots in RA (lol) hybrid is still better, and I shall enlighten you.

By running no prots on your bar, what you are doing is giving your opponent free reign over your team. They can attack whoever they want, whenever they want without fear of anything. Prots give your opponent options, they can attack through prots to nail a mesmer or something (for example) but their attacks will be far less effective, or they can change targets to the more beefy warrior, both of which are better options for you. Without prots ur stuck healing like crazy to keep a squishy alive.

The only opponent which pure heal is better, is pure hexers. In every other situation, ie caster dmg, physical spike/pressure hybrid is far superior as it forces opponents to fight on YOUR terms, and punishes them if they don't, where as with pure heal you are at the mercy of what your opponents choose to do.

Wait, what? I would think that a hybrid would just enhance good tactics, since not only will prekiting/avoiding bulls prevent damage, but your well-placed prots will prevent even more damage.
