LOL. You guys just reminded me why I turn off local during AB.

As for why Kurzicks suck? I don't know, but everytime I play (and I'm Kurzick) most people on the team think it's a 1v1 battle. Or they think capping isn't important or it defines the act of screwing a top onto a bottle... or something. Don't know.

Every so often I'm lucky to play when people who understand the goal of AB are playing. I don't mind losing but one time the game ended at 28 (us) to 400 (them), and as far as I knew my team was the only ones running around capping while the majority of the team was in the base picking their asses, noses, whatever...

Or 3v1. I raged and went back to base once the other day to leech after I watched three of my super smart teammates try to gank some or other Luxon while I stood right next to them solo capping the ele shrine. After that little display I was like "that's it, I'm done with this nonsense."

UGH. That too.

It's like a mob of people can't resist a lone, lost enemy and they all run to kill him/her and I'm up at the shrine, seeing another that we can cap in the distance and I'm going WTF! Let's cap and leave that pathetic straggler ALONE. Doh!

Leave stragglers alone.
Don't go on 1v1 or 3v1
Cap cap cap and more cap!

It's so simple. So so simple. I really don't understand the /fail at AB at all. I mean, if it was complicated, maybe, but it's not. I figured it out and I'm not the greatest player, and if I can figure it out, that tells me most people are friggin' morons.

I've observed that Kurzicks, apparently bitter due to their constant losses, are much more brutal to lone stragglers than Luxons.

Pretty funny that your team was ignoring a cap just to chase an apparently easy target.

I make a practice of not going withing 1.5 aggro bubble radius of a moderate to large mob, it's essentially wastrel's collapse insurance because I KNOW that if I get within range some jerk is going to snare me.

Trying to knock the mentality of "It's alone... KILL IT!" from some of my friends' heads has taken patience and time that I do not have, but somehow managed to find.

Much more efficient to stick together, cap what you can, avoid what you can't, and when the opportunity presents itself, lend a hand to turn the tide of a battle - then GTFO and get doing something productive.

Why so hard to understand?

Its cause in every other PvP area killing people is something meaningful, whereas the penalty for dying in AB is 3pts to the other team and a 20 sec time out. People don't seem to understand this.

I like to knocklock and kill shit on my Warr in AB... I just make sure that in doing so I am not ignoring the current priority of the match - winning.

Luxons and Kurzicks alike make excellent targets for my Hammer and my Axe, I just happen to be (and have been since Factions) aligned with the Kurzicks (and when I'm on, a good match vs. a Luxon team sometimes nets me an invite over to the Luxon camp, it's all good. Balthazar and Grenth don't care who wage war and die, as long as it continues! ).

On the other hand, that's 20s said dead person won't be contributing to the match - won't be killing your allies, capping shrines you've already capped...

I always thought it was mostly a matter of figuring out when it's worthwhile and when it's not.

Depends on what time you play. I tend to play on weeknights between 5:00-13:00GMT and the Luxons are pretty bad then. You just tab through the staging area and look at all the PvE title, no secondaries, crys of "OMG I've never played this map" in chat when you are on Saltspray, gives you an idea what to expect. At other times they are a lot better.

5 am to 1 pm GMT, that's 12 pm to 8 am EST, which is in the middle of the night when nobody's on at all either that or it's the idiot french botters.

I'm Kurzick and I try to get valid teams together... I can't really give a solid reason WHY everyone else sucks so bad but all I know is that I end up screaming this a lot...

The one that cheeses me off is when there's one lone fellow resolutely standing at the doorway he wants to exit from, despite two teams screaming at him - one shouting "GET BACK HERE" and the other one shouting "GO JOIN YOUR TEAM".

On a randomly curious note, am I the only one who loathes Saltspray and prefers playing Etnaran/Kaanai from the Kurz side?

I loved etnaran and saltspray when I still played kurzick, too bad the map was always on grenz. Saltspray has lots of combat action, and you can choke mobs on the narrow bridge with AoE. Etnaran was more about clever movement, also fun as hell.

As a Luxon, I make it a sport to run up to Kurzicks and often run away again, as to distract them from actually capping and being useful. There is always more than one that will chase you a considerable amount of time around the map. Even poor players can get some kind of rythm going where they start going around capping shrines, and make them dangerous since they cap. It's important to break the flow of these groups so they never get to be usefull.

I agree with that but I think I'd also extend your argument, because for most of the time (especially if you control the res shrine) it's not just 20s, but rather longer than that that they're out of the game.

It takes time to run from base to a place where someone resurrected can be useful to the outcome of a match. And considering many pickups will never get back with their team and become a net drain (easy kills to a team, easy points) it's doubly useful.

Circumstances permitting, I'll take out any group that will take less time to kill than I judge it'll take for them to res and recover.

As for Kurz/Lux I switch sides often due to friends asking. In lux party search there's usually always 3/4 GLF monk or 3/4 GLF ele; even many pugs are making balanced parties. In Kurz far more groups are just tab-invite randoms. Whether that's a cause or a feedback effect for sucking, hard to say. But I think the HFF running as long as it did poisoned the Kurzick side, because it's not a recent phenomenon, just one that recently got a lot worse.

AB is fundamentally a ground control game. You don't care about the kills as much as it giving you control of the ground. Killing random Defy Pain Warriors and other crap is a waste of time because they aren't threats, but kicking opponents out of your territory, especially when owning the Res shrine, wins games.

If you put a high priority on holding the Res shrine and keep it capped, then kill trades with your opponent are generally a good deal anywhere on the map. Kills between your base and the shrine are an amazing deal that keeps those shrines on lockdown (since they are behind your res) and costs your opponent close to a minute before they could get back there; they can fight over the garbage shrine quickly on Grenz/Etnaran, and their own shrines, but they can't threaten your shrines.

Generally, unless you think you can cap shrines significantly faster than another team (and you probably can't), then you should almost always fight any fight that you have an advantage at; how most teams cap their shrine, then run past each other to trade shrines, continues to blow my mind. If you have the elite Ele or Warrior, *use it to beat the piss out of the other team*. Then take their shrine. Defending your shrine + killing other team + taking their shrine >>>>>>> trading your elite shrine for a crappy shrine.
