You have to admit the title system can't be entirely healthy?
My opinion for what its worth is that exercising the imagination by any means be it reading fiction playing rpg games or creating a character in a computer game is basically healthy.
Obsessing about it to the point where it takes over from real life is probably very unhealthy.

Doesn't mean the object of the obsession is bad it probably means the person with the obsession has found no other outlet for their energies or has been told constantly that they are useless at everything, so they retreat into a virtual world.

Yes some people will commit suicide over a game others will become disturbed by Horror films or become rapists due to an obsession with pornography.
The vast majority of the population will have no such urges at all no matter what the exposure.

I hear one popular idea at the moment is that competitive sports are bad because one person wins and all the rest fail and this is bad for them.
So they are creating sports where no one wins or loses.

I personally never achieved a title in the game except by accident during normal play and have no intention changing that any time soon.

There would seem to be little to be taken from this game to GW2 other than the rewards and titles presently offered.
They could offer more of the same I suppose but none of it really fits into the pvp world.

Presumably you could use any of the items from the hom during pvp and even use the titles much as the pve players will be doing.

As for more pvp titles being included in the hom, as I said before they could be added as alternatives to the pve titles not as extras.

I'm on the fence here, but I do sort of like the idea about consecutive HoH wins, etc. The balth. faction thing isn't necessarily PvP though, as farming 6k faction a day in Zaishen Elite (which is how I got most of my wife's and my keys) could easily make it seem like someone did heavy PvP, when in fact all they did was trap for 30 minutes a day and watch the NPC's go poof (which my wife finds hilarious).

Right now I would rather they put some time into fixing the WiK quest line...than alter the HoM.
