No I meant just having a monk following them to the other team's lord base, there isnt a lot of snares atm so I dont think the midliners can really stop the mesmers at all.

After having seen how easy it was to defend 3melees and a necro with 2monks specced for boat defense in this months MAT finals, I am more confident that this strategy will hold out.

1soul twist rit
3monks

4mesmers and 1monk run to deal aggression damage at around 25mins bypassing entourage with blinds.
ST rit will keep the 2monks alive while staying in base
2monks will keep NPCs alive for as long as possible to have entourage active and keeping lord alive til the end. Then hope 4blind aggression dealers will out power the other team's DPS lord damage.
Also even if entourage is disabled as soon as possible, I am still betting on mesmers dealing more aggression then the other team

1 monk isnt going to keep the 4 mesmers alive, ur going to drop in less then 30 seconds against any team with half a brain.
ur monk will be shitted on by the ranger or mes, not only that poison on 5 targets and guarantee ur 1 monk cant keep up or any kind of degen for that matter.
no one is going to let u split 4 mesmers and 1 monk to there base, ur going to get collapsed on and wipe ineveitably.

If you don't maintain at least a token kill threat, it completely changes the way their team can play against you. They can devote 100% of their skills, attention, and energy to pushing kills through. Their monks will be putting all of their energy into veils and draws. Their midline can completely ignore their defensive duties to look for opportunities to disrupt your blinds or punish someone doing something stupid. And that's not even counting bizarre stuff like 4-man full bodyblocks and then just strip-training the poor schmuck in the middle into the ground. Or that on most maps they could bodyblock your mesmer fleet with any subset of characters (say, two defensive midline and a runner) and just push lord damage with the rest with no fear of losing anything at either end.
