I didn't agree with the nerf to Draw when it came about a few months ago. Anets reasoning was that it was 'to help ele's blinds stick more'...

So fast forward a few months to the Derv update. This update, imo, brought about more conditions as well as more sources of blind and cripple. Sure we have RC but, as a prot, you can't really be using all your energy to just spam RC. Obviously you need to be able to use guardian/shielding hands/SoA to mitigate as much damage as possible.

For the record I'm talking HA here but I'm pretty sure the same applies for GvG too, every match we play we face at least 3 dervishes, and my frontline are always complaining about either blind or perma cripple. Obviously our backline tries to keep them clean as much as possible but it does hamper their ability to keep the pressure up.

I would really like it if they could revert draw back to the shorter recharge, It would help an awful lot imo.

Good point, that or smiter's boon aura of thorns and harriers grasp. Especially in HA it's not too hard for an observant mesmer to just divert draw. Aura of thorns is by far the cheesiest lame snare in the game atm. even with draw reverted to its original state, I think a monk has a hard time to manage energy when they acually HAVE to use it every few seconds.

Toning down shit > power creep imho.

Reducing the recharge of Martyr could help too. It's an elite, but in this meta it would be worth it.

This has to do with the fact that dervish can easily switch targets ( attacking + moving faster ) Just maybe making heart of fury work same as flail could be an option ...

dervs with crip sweep (and maybe aura of thorns)=you perma crippled.

removing conditions isnt going to help the situation, they need to nerf aura of thorns to adjacent instead of nearby because 2-3 dervishes can keep the whole team literally snared.

crippling sweep, needs to be crippled for 1-3 seconds for each chant on you

the whole line of crippling skills for dervs needs a nerf.

its pretty funny though how they think draw>bsurge

Reverting it to a shorter recharge so you can spam as much, at the same energy cost, and rather than eradicating the conditions entirely with some healing, just end up with the conditions on yourself? Makes perfect sense! So much more sense than actually balancing dervs/everything else people bitch about these days.

RC and draw are not ran one 1 bar, the reverting of draw was to help alleviate the pressure on the prot monk removing constant cripple.

Also, obviously the ideal thing to do would be to balance the OP cripple derv skills but I'm pretty sure that won't happen any time soon. So why not suggest things to help in the mean time..

Seriously, relic run maps are so annoying facing these teams. You remove the cripple to have it instantly replaced.

draw is more often than not just an energy vampire, unless you actually push kills with aggressive drawing.
and its spammmable more or less on melandru resi monks alone.

Conditions spam is nice. With RC you can heal/clean with one skill=less energy used. Don't see the problem; just be a better RC monk?

Did you even bother to read the thread or did you just see it as an opportunity to troll?

It isn't about 'being a better monk' its about helping my frontline do their jobs more efficiently by keeping them free of cripple but also I still have to have the energy to prot correctly.

If you had played in this current meta I'm sure you would be able to see that the perma cripple is an issue and not just for me as a RC monk.

The biggest problem here is the inability to see where the problem is rooted. Draw is perfectly fine. It's dervs that are screwed up.

Not really mentioned is the fact that runes and shield mods have across the board reduced the effectiveness of conditions themselves. In response to this only the more spammable condition skills are effective. Its a powercreep from both sides of the equasion.

Foul feast is so much better if you have necro midliner (you get fodder for angorodon's gaze/plague sending/plague signet). The only difference is you don't have Disciple's insignia fodder for the Healing Burst monk. This would be different if dazed were more common (FD).
