Default PvP experience with a Ritualist ?

Hi, rits are probably my favourite profession cuz they are kinda unique and i have played my rit for a long time, but in pvp it looks like they aren't used much. For RA there are some useful builds but in hardcore pvp like HA and GVG rits are either the flag runner in gvg or they run the spirit channeling build. So, whats your opinion about being a ritualist in pvp?

rits used to be decent spike characters, Then rawr kept winning using a stand rit and now its nerfed because it was a stupid character, providing unlimited amounts of defence and an unhealthy damage output all on the same bar.

The only reason that rits can even be effective in RA is if u face a bad team with no brain/no interupts. All they can do in RA is basically spam spirits, and any decent players will just rupt every single one of ur spirits, or instantly kill them, rendering ur bar entirely useless. And rit healers in RA are worse than monks in almost every way. No hex removes, less condition removal, less healing, no stances, the list goes on...
(For the uneducated people who dont see the relevance of my above comment, the job of a healer class is only 50% healing/protting, if u dont clean ur frontline of blind/weakness/cripple/hexes you will lose eventually anyway because u cant kill. and Rits absolutely suck at cleaning frontline)

The only reason rits get used at all in gvg and HA is that they output the most effective means of party healing, and combined with un removable weapons rits are extremely good at their 'supportive' role.

Unfortunately for people who enjoy rits, the level of support/defence they provide is so high that there wont ever be any buffs to their damage, because you would end up with 'the new dervish'. (read as: a stupidly broken class that is so good that all other professions become inferior and get removed from mass gameplay)

My own personal opinion is that rits are a pretty dumb class providing far too much party healing to be good for the game. This level of healing is required at present to cope with the ridiculous damage certain professions output as a result of power creep, but thats a different discussion.

Back when I used to lead GvG teams in a primarily PvE alliance, I would run into a lot of players with the exact same concern as the OP. They have their one character they love to use in PvE and really want to play that character when they try to GvG. The problem is that in high level PvP, you don't play a class. You play a role (unless you monk). People who loved their dervish don't play a dervish in GvG, they play frontline. So you play whatever bar is best for the build you are using, whether it is dervish, warrior, or assassin. People who love Ele's don't play Ele. They play midline, so you will switch up between Eles, Paragons, Mesmers, Necromancers, Ritualists, and sometimes even ranger if you are decent at interrupts.

As far as rits go, they are used in flagger and midline roles in some builds. You will still see some in a midline build every now and then, but their damage output has been nerfed a lot because of how ridiculously OP they were in conjunction with their support ability. Your best bet if you only wanna play rit is to become a flag runner (which involves a lot more than just running flags. And sometimes even a flag runner will use a monk, or in the past even E/Rt or E/Mo. I've actually seen derv flaggers in the past and they aren't that bad at healing in RA so I wouldn't be surprised if someone creative enough tried to find a niche role for them if burning isle ever goes back into the rotation (featherfoot grace plus some other cripple expire faster runes allows you to run through the lava without being crippled). So even as a flagger there is no guarantee you will always play a rit.

HA and GvG are so heavily ritualized (like my pun?) anymore that most rit skills would be worthless in the current meta.

I find FA, JQ, and AB are rit compatible. ST rit on the Kurz side of FA can be godlike in the right conditions.
Also these formats are more friendly to experimental builds.
