Let me say, that I am not surprised about that "OP derv" thread.
I started my GW adventure some 5 years ago, and decided to play PvE, to get to know game mechanics. I played probably all profs.

There was a time, I enjoyed playing necro, than I got on a monk and warrior. When I got to survivor on a monk, I decided to delete it, for it started to be really boring. Same with warrior - a real tank, hard to be killed.
After couple of years I started PvP - and I am still PvPing, with only minor PvE from time to time.
I play two classes - a sin and a derv. And I was playing them both before recent updates as well.

I somehow do not use the AoB or AoG in PvP, well, I use the build I thought would work and I keep on experimenting.

Yesterday I came across several opponents, that were totally not easy to be killed, rather opposite: a ranger and a rit, during JQ.
I can say, that I am not 100% happy with the update, but for the first time I stand a chance with warriors, and that was something very difficult to do before. And yes, I win with warriors often, same with other dervs.

I prefer PvP, and still there are some places I would love to play, but I don't: like RA for example. Sync teams - that is the problem there. HA - hard to find a good team, that would stand a chance against another team, specially setup for that.

But hey, this is a game. I can say - "I would prefer there were no sync teams", but this is also a way of playing. I agree, most of these synced ppl play for titles, while I play for fun.

I had a feeling, that one of my favorite profs was nerfed some time ago - a necro. Still, I 'reorganized' and from time to time I play necro and cap shrines.
I play sin (PvP), although one cannot say it is OP. Or is it?

What I want to say: there are many ppl playing GW, not that many playing PvP, and I would rather think that Anet could do something with leechers and synced teams in RA, than nerf dervs or any other profesion back where they were a year ago.

I can understand that now it is more difficult to kill a derv, but it is quite possible, if you know how.

Saying that "I quit because my prof is not that strong as the other one", is - as far as I think - childish.

Well, my 2 cents.
Regards guys.

Ofcourse it should not be easy to kill 2opponents when u are alone.
Even it was in jq u managed to solo those 2, then there has to ring a bell that something is wrong with ur profession (too strong by far).

@ tonyh: did I mention AB? I don't think so, but yes, I also play AB sometime. Mostly on my sin.

@ Coast: actually I had to go for a rit,(he had a very good build), and won - which by far is not so strange, taking under consideration rits' armor, for example. And time spent ;]

I also never mentioned soloing them at the same time. They had good builds though, and a ranger was much tougher to be killed, btw.

Right, I soloed another derv, supported by a monk, and I've killed both - but I do think that particular derv skills were poor, and no - monk was not standing right behind him, I had to finish them one by one.

Again: I was not using AoB / AoG.

This is the most recent build I used: OgGjkqqLrS/XWgFFkbdfaboXlXA

[Crippling Sweep][Aura Slicer][Distracting Blow][Attacker's Insight][Grenth's Aura][Onslaught][Lyssa's Haste][Faithful Intervention]

no res

the issue of derv opness is relavent to more serious pvp, than ones where you don't have a res on a melee

though at anet's current level of idiocy perhaps soon they'll be able to res dead team members without a hard res or signet

@ cantalus: this is the build I used in JQ: do you seriously think one needs res there?

What do you mean by you stand a chance vs. Warriors ... you completely dominate Warriors with the appropriate build ...

And of course there are builds out there that you can't kill with the build you posted, e.g. Antimelee Necros, Water Eles, Illusion Mesmers, blah blah blah. Is that relevant, however?

My reasons for supporting a nerf on Dervishes are quite simple. Warriors have been viable for years, so they should remain viable regardless of how other balance updates go. If they don't, it's evidence of power creep, and power creep is not good (because some things don't change, e.g. Burning does 7 degen, players have 480 base health). Right now Warriors are more or less entirely superseded by Dervishes, which causes a problem.

I'm not against having Dervishes in the game; in fact I think balance is best when both Dervishes and Warriors are equally viable. That's not the case right now, however, and Warriors < Dervishes. Sure it's possible that Warriors can be buffed until they're as strong as Dervishes, but considering that Warriors have been in the meta for years and years before this, they ought also be left relatively untouched.

unless you're talking about dervs in; as i said "serious pvp" i don't actually think anything you type is relevant, ab, jq and fa are not serious pvp

in all seriousness, they should just implement 1st April's skill update. At least the game would be fun then.
that, or revert it back to prophecies days.

I guess that 'serious' pvp is syncing in RA. Well, HA maybe? the same story.
PvP means player vs player, or am I wrong? As far as RA with synced teams looks now, its not serious at all: it is actually sick.

HA PvP? the only chance to win HA is to have a good team, whatever build, it does not matter now. Alone, or - with a PUG you would be lost in HA in seconds.

So where is this serious PvP? on telly maybe? or is there any other place in GW I don't know about?

That depends, are you unaware of GvG? That is the only "serious" PvP in the game, no other format has tournaments (some with RL prizes), a competitive ladder, or can be considered an "e-sport".

Because all of them are random.

If TA and HA weren't random, and if there was a ladder of some sort, they probably would've been more popular than GvG. GvG is "only" concidered the highest end PvP cuz of the fact Anet decided it that way, not because it's the "most balanced" format, or because it requires the most skill to play.

Also, GvG can't be concidered an E-sport. I mean, it can, but so can online tetris (Which I'm fairly sure someone is going to post a picture of a tetris championship now ). Just saying, GvG isn't serious PvP. It died out a long time ago, and as I've said on some other forum: it's really easy to get into the top tier if you know what you're doing. (Unlike Starcraft 2, for example, where the top tier actually means something)

The recent nerf did little to make the dervish less OP. It is still *rollface left to right on keyboard* *repeat faceroll on RC until you win*. Dervs are a great class, but still very OP.
