Wasn't it because everyone already had Kurzick, and because the Luxon HFFF wasn't as widely known all the pro guilds got their Luxon titles by AB'ing and other stuff?

So Kurzicks only unorganized PvE'ers who didn't get Kurzick with HFFF, whereas Luxon have organized guilds actually going for the win. In recent years, tough, I found that Luxons loose quite alot, so I don't know why the maps still are so heavily favored towards Kurzicks, maybe it's glitched...

yup.

the difficulty in swapping sides if one side is overpopulated is stupid. they could at least add a 'I want to AB' option with the luxon / kurzick guys in GToB or somewhere. Having to get guest invites to get a game is dumb.

AB does need some love tbh. AB and codex are the only 2 casual 4v4 u can go play with friends. Both of them are dead. I'm pretty sure everyone can be agreed codex is very dead and has been since 1 week after launch. AB has been slowly dieing from the map rotation and rewards these past couple of years. Anet needs to do something imo. =/

I'd assume its not hard to make some of these changes, I keep seeing the same stuff repeated.
i.e map changes, and increase in faction reward. Though the former might be difficult given the teams resource? (i have no clue) The increase in faction should only be changing a few numbers no?

I don't see why ab can't be given a shot in the arm.

how about merging AB, FA,JQ into one fast rotation? thinking 30mins~ per map, and random order.

increase faction rewards, they should be above pve methods.
i like the idea of a reward chest aswell

how about faction being used to get other rewards? for example the moss spider, 5 gold zcoins (which is a lot), or 50,000 balth, which requires alot of successful pvp to get your titles up just to have a 50,000 cap.

Most people I play with already have both titles maxed. Maybe it's just me and maybe im just weird for not caring about fame/faction. I play HA as well, couldnt care less about fame, I care about fun matches. We're one of those teams that is adamant about not running any kind of lame, because our frontliners actually like playing warriors rather then sins or dervs.

Does it get us much fame? no, were not even that good to begin with, does it get us shiny rewards? no, big deal.

To make a long story short, last thing ABers want are 'pro' title farmers. I got roflstomped today by this warrior using blood ritual on his coward bar, we use GwK rits and ES warriors to perma KD mobs, people use dual wastrels sins and jesus beam monks to spike, etc etc.

You gave birth to some pretty weird builds yourselves, you should be able to appreciate the value of a fun, wiki-less format of all people. Especially since codex is dead, RA unplayable, and the rest of the pvp formats too harsh for the average joe wammo to get into.

Been thinking why americans love bashing euro's, were not all bad bspike krauts y'know

This post is slightly TL;DR in advance. It went on longer than I thought it would.

As a lot of other people have said, the issue with AB is lack of incentive to keep players interested. Be it the "lack" of players (This is not entirely the case) or lack of "rewards" which no-one actually cares about. All the people that I know that play, have never played it for faction. There are simply better ways to get faction, via JQ, FA or PvE.

The thing is there isn't a lack of players to get games in AB. (during "peak" times...) While they are lacking somewhat, the issue comes in when one side is totally stacked with teams and the other isn't. The players are left with the choice of either having to get guest invites (This system should be changed, let us be able to access AB either side without a Guild Hall, similar to the FA/JQ GToB NPC) or having to wait forever. When players are forced to wait forever, they just get bored and quit, leaving less players to play and wanting to play in the future.

So people who are left wanting to play after lack of incentive in rewards, are willing to change sides to manipulate the player count (Guilds, alliances and friend groups are forced to do this for games...) and who are willing to bear the wait times are doing it purely for fun. Which these days isn't even as good due to the stale map rotation. I personally have 17 million faction from purely AB on Kurzick side, trying to help push for better maps with friends. Other people have tried this as well, with more resources and teams to do so and it hasn't worked. Even Grenz is rare these days and people are sick with Lands. Which in turn causes more people to stop playing the format.

Good solutions have been already been suggested. A random map rotation is probably the easiest idea. An AB title would be extremely interesting. More faction while being a good idea, may not help too much though it should be implemented anyway. Being able to access AB without a Guild Hall either side, would help. I had another idea which would probably be impossible or too difficult to add. To stop sides being too stacked, on timer enter the Kurzick and Luxon teams get pooled together in the random queue. When there is a match, they get randomly sided on Kurzick or Luxon side for the match with some sort of temporary status effect which converts the faction type to the side they entered from. For example, a Luxon team could enter from Luxon side, play for the Kurzick side and gain Luxon faction for it. This solves the issue of team mismatches and syncing if the other suggestions get put into place.

Of course, they'll never take into any of these suggestions into consideration. The best thing we can do, is make our own teams in AB and try be patient. Or go do something else... (*cough*LOLHEROESASCENT*cough*)

Sadly it all boils down to Anet neglect. Anet had plenty of opportunity to fix what was broken and try new things. They could have at the very least tried things out during random weekend like lowering morale and increasing points gained for player kills to make things more evened out instead of being pure capfest, or other various suggestions the playerbase had.

Now it is likely too late. The playerbase has gone to greener pastures, even if they did test something new it would more likely just chase away the very few players left who actually enjoy it. R.I.P. AB


I second one of the things people say on here: At this point there is only one thing that can bring AB back and that's incentive. Rewards need to be worth people's time for title and treasure farmers alike. Everything else Anet does to try and save AB would just be gravy.

Long waits comes from "not enough factions", ppl playing fa and jg for factions, so here u have a long times, coz not enough ppl, since they prefer FA JQ. There are no map flaws in AB, unlike in FA, where this whole game mode full of bugs and flaws, points to abuse those flaws, but ppl don't care bout it since FACTIONS. Grinders, title hunters, pve ideology, they farm, farm factions for title, for alliance. This is what this game about nowadays.

Yeah, they should unlink AB maps from the Kurzick/Luxon border movement and introduce a set cycle, whether random or whatever. They unlinked FoW/UW from Halls wins because the PvE/PvP link wasn't working. Same thing here.

My guild was in a kurz ally for a few months AB from that side was so boring the map advantage didn't help this.

Maybe just unlink it from lux & kurz so you just end up with a 12 blue vs 12 red match with the "points" you earn being dumped into the faction of your choice afterwards. That way with the population numbers going down with time you could still get a game if there were 8 lux online but 20+ kurz waiting to play.

Random map rotation is a good idea also.

I have solution for u. Grab whole ur Kurzick alliance and move to lux. We do the opposite. In 1 day we will be on Keys. But u stuck on asslands and complain AB s boring. While u just cant play.

anyhow, lux synch like rabbits, kurzicks are horrid so without 2 synched teams on kurz side its usually auto loss unless lux teams are horrid too. in which case its boring as hell. and asslands suck, too.

urania apply this solution to urself 1st. I don't remember when lux synched last time. There's no need for that atm, few teams playing. Altho sometimes if you meet continuously same strong teams together on kuku side then there's nothing wrong to synch, unless ofc you find joy in being raped.

bungusmaximus said right, kurzick tactics mostly in running huge mob around, which can be broken unless some good teams in it like CneX. Of course sometimes its different.

unlike you i dont post implausible suggestions on how to fix a format with issues that are well beyond "swap sides with your whole alliance and viola" ideas, so i suggest you follow my solution.

lux always have been and always will be synching, be it intentional or not - the fact there's only 3 teams on lux side doesnt mean they're not synching, it just means its as easy as pie when they do.

moreover, kurzicks dont have any tactics outside of run in and wipe and repeat. sure, you can whoop any lux synch with 2 kurz synchs and i have done it before, but finding 4 more people (actual pvpers, mind you) to synch in with is virtually impossible. but given we can whoop lux synchs (ngty and co) with BiP or glyph of energy/gale on our warriors speaks for itself.

My solutions/opinions.

1. Increase faction rewards
2. Make maps random
3. Make faction from vanquishing one time only per character
4. ANet needs to ban some damn bots so they don't faction farm AB if its buffed

When i was doing my Kurzick title it was quicker to kill baddies in ferndale then getting a group and waiting for the timer.After getting a million of my faction this way i decided i'd had enough. Besides like any PvP you need to be seem to have a rank before anyone would consider you in a group. I'm a rank 12 and i don't need to do AB anymore and yes i know there is alot of you out there that are too.

urania, unlike me you don't suggest any solution at all. And the fact that you didn't get sarcasm in my solution only confirms my theory, about switching "AB" alliance, so good AB players could farm them and by this affect map rotation.

And lux syncing -- is just a lie, this only tells that you're out of theme, i.e. you dont know what you talking about. No wonder, since i hnc who u r at all in ab, and your guild doesnt represent anything there.

Everyone sync sometimes, but not always as you trying here to prove. And easy as pie, same goes to kuku, if there r no teams, they will sync that way anyway. I gave example that happened few days ago, map moved to Saltspray, there were lack of kukus, so we moved to kuku side(ngty, MaSS, TAG) and moved map eventually to Keys, haven't lost single game. So don't tell me your fairy tales about gale kuku wars etc., its same ppl everywhere. There r tons of gale, firestorm, w/e idiots on both sides.

Point is only one: not enough ppl. Thats all. Bring more ppl to ab inventing new title, reward, w/e - everything will change.

Lol dont go to hard on urania here, vD represents nothing in AB maybe, but in TA they used to be boss. They knew 4 vs 4 fighting pretty well. Noone cares about guild bitchfights anyways, this thread is about AB in general. I miss those old days where you could run teams without monks, you would have 5 districts at both sides, and here was no inbred populace of 5 balanced teams dominating one side all day.
