it's pretty 'vibrant' at the moment too. title change and rewards make wonders, i suppose.

1) Get on for the rotation, make some ridiculously abusive build, stomp other Americans for 10-20 wins
2) Americans copy the build, and get crushed for 5-10 wins
3) Americans give up and sync later in the night
4) We stop because of NOPs and the format is empty
i had to laugh at that part.

So far as I know, exactly two people received a ban on the completely unrelated issue of using bots. To my knowledge this behavior hasn't changed; people are still syncing the format without penalty, and reporting them does nothing.
its harder now, mostly because the population increased and hasnt started dying out yet since the update.

there's lisa&roflcopter and a few others that form competitive teams regularly again and will continue doing so as long as there will be enough players in.

perhaps you should drop by for some whooping, e drama is always fun.

on a side note, its quite odd seeing our gw scientist 'back in action'. or just back for mashing a few keys on the keyboard?

in general, its nice seeing some old school tags like pnh and boon drop by in CA.

rangers do not suck in codex. in fact, pets rule the arena because everything is simplified, meaning that some of the more glaring ai issues involving pets arent that noticible in codex.

i think two days ago i made a strike as one hammer thumper that completely overloaded monks with conditions (cripple, deep wound, poison, bleeding, weakness) so i could usually solo a monk while the derv killed the blindbot ele. my random pug team went on a 30 game streak

until you faced a b surge e/a with return, caltrops and shock.

in theory, every proff is viable. it all depends on a specific ca deck which one will be more and which less viable.

Prolly is this that keep away the largest mass of players (look at RA now...).

Also, isn't that great to pug afaik. Not saying that is impossible to do and win, but you'll get the best fun and results playing with a bunch of friends able to play decently more professions and fix your builds toghether.

Why did people hate it? Population was so low. Why was the population so low? Because it was impossible to make any progress in the title track unless you were in an organized group.

It's definitely had a breath of new life blown into it. We'll see if it stays active. I know I'm playing it again.

Ideally......but making friends and forming into a team in guildwars is like finding a job or a girl friend, not just one but 4-8 jobs, girl friends, because of the complexity of builds, skills and players' attitude, what creates player's attitude is the arranged team system, and how long it takes to make 4-8 hardcore friends is proportionate to how long for anet can do a skill balance.

.....causal that is playing alone may be 1 or 2 hours a day, hoping to have a glimpse of the best will not ever work.

Takes forever to make builds, then changes again.

pretty much every team had a bsurge ele that day, in fact, we did also

but dervs also had two condition removal skills (conviction and grenths grasp) so the opposite bsurge could either bsurge me and get beat on by the derv, or bsurge the derv, who quickly removed it. so while the derv distracted the ele, i easily took down the monk who was facing extreme pressure

so yeah, thats the beauty of codex. no one profession is left behind every day

if map was good for kiting or teleporting up and down, the derv will stay snared most of the time and the r would camp blind.
on a side note, there was no grenths graps in that deck.

The main problem in Codex is that , there is such low possibility to play due to inactivity that everyone just goes when it's quest day... 60% of players just pick random players and go in , while 40% rest are strong guild teams ( usually top gvg-ers or haers ).... There , i think you can know the problem.....

When i go with guild team sure we have fun ,but i tried to play on the other side , and it's not really a lot when the only thing you face are teams facerolling you one after an other..

That's pretty much why i think codex should have been random and RA removed for TA...

still so surprising that people can still make crap ineffective builds 6+ years into the game

ra isn't a terrible format, its just filled with terrible people who still haven't evolved in years playing the game, anyways should have always split people up in different categories and match ups based on titles(yes they don't mean anything but its the only thing thats credible) just indicates experience so you don't get teamed with complete retards, this can very well go the same for codex so lower experienced players don't get completely face rolled.

because player do not spend 6 years altogether making builds, and testing the builds.

Doesn't take a genious or anything near to not make 8 skills put together suck. But apparently that has always seemed to be too much of a task as well, which was the point.
Even if you're not brilliant and an innovator of builds in the game, you don't have to be shit at it since it ain't just black and white. What has always been the case though, is that the vast majority of people are so shit at it that it appears to be a black and white scenario.

If you can't read a skill description and realize what it can do, you don't belong here. Although, there are more than enough people that fall in that category... Why do you keep pretending making a build is so damn hard? Is it really so hard to find synergy between skills and builds, and are we just all geniuses that are so outstanding that we think making a build is so hard? Or are you just pretending it's way harder than it is..

well, making a build is easy, but asking people to use it with you is uneasy, and given there isn't a "must work or must not work" build.

i take it you didnt read thread title.

anyhow, when codexing, players must be able to see the bigger picture - firstly, how skills synergize in their bar, and then, how 4 team bars will synergize and form one effective setup, able to kill in a timely fashion and also (if there is any such skills), shut down the opposing team's vital offensive and defensive spells/their physicals, along with locking rezzes (if there are skill locks like d shot, savage shot, pd, complicate etc.).

most cannot see that, and it is what makes ca essentially harder than ta.

dont think its harder, pretty much the same concept except your being gimped, so the creative aspect part of the game comes into mind on who can build wars better considering playing level is evenly matched.

This. I think of what I want to achieve first and then choose skills to meet that goal most effectively. The idea of using gimped shit is retarded. When I look at the available skills, the first thing that comes to mind is "Why the f do I have to use these shit?" (Power attack as an option for warrior, wtf) at which point creativity dies. Freedom FTW. Even the illusion of freedom is still FTW (erase NF skills for example^^)
