Well, i don't believe the flux in itself was such a joke... The only point here was to be told that " they removed snowball earlier to put in the flux" and to then be explained that there would be no flux in dragon arena and roller beetle. Why did we have a flux in snowball then ?

This might be taken as a troll but do you guys remember :
- when you didn't have to pay 50k for a guild hall ?
- when wintersday event didn't mean " yay farm " ?
- when you didn't need to go Great Temple Of Balthazar to find players for any PvP format ?
- when Gates Of Kryta farm was considered abusive ?

Smile All those memories..

Back in the day when.

1. Factions wasbooming..
2. The Emo necro bomb build was rampant.
3. HA crowds were bigger.
4. PvP Defy Pain wasn't a stance..now its garbage.
5. Shadow form wasn't complicated.
6. Sharpen daggers worked on bow set ups like barrage..volley
7. More noobs used to try Droks runs and fail then pay me to do it.
8. Ectos seemed more of a status symbol of wealth.
9. FoW wasnt so anoying.
10. Ice mirror was its old devistating self..
11. Illusionary Nightmare was terrifying.
12. Dodge/Shield block was simply nasty.. 3 sec open out of every 24 only.
13. What ever happened to all those kewl players we used to shout out in Like Medicine Arrow! the W/R

I have fond memories of Sin split in GvG.

Only time my War gathered dust, and great fun to boot.

I remember when:

- ranger stances didn't increase block, but evade
- ranger interrupts didn't have aftercast
- Gale knocked 3 seconds
- people thought superior runes were best so they had to stack as many as possible
- the low level arenas were active
- only the HzH owning guild could do Urgoz, and in the Urgoz weekend the whole game would rush there to see it
- 55hp monk was the best farm build
- you had to play with others to beat the PvE
- PvP char creation had premade chars to choose and you then wouldn't get a group if you picked one
- Nightfall had some sort of pre promotion and 99% of players online was a lvl 1 dervish
- people ran 3 eles in HA with arcane mimicry / arcane echo / sandstorm
- being skilled in HA didn't matter cuz you would get crushed by unranked bloodspikers anyway

Common misconception. Other than UW/FoW, everything else was perfectly possible with just henchmen.

It was perfectly possible. It wasn't so easy at times, but it was perfectly possible nonetheless. I mean, THK back when it was worth something might not have been easy, and you would have to be incredibly lucky and be pretty damn pro, but you could still do it. Same goes with Hell's Precipice. The thing is, people just didn't do it because there were other players to do it with.

Did the entirety of prophecies 3 times with just henchmen (wish I had realized that for the first time I went through). It wasn't just barely possible, it was more efficient than pugging.

Yes a good pug would do it faster, but counting in the number of bad pugs received and the set-up time, just henching everything was faster.

when chests had a already pre-determined color and everyone would be voting who should open first.
not rezzing someone when they got a drop and waiting 10 minutes to jack their item.

This isn't as old as 2006 but I remember getting in top 20 with a friend of mine just running Discordway with heroes. It was hilarious and everybody flamed us pretty much every match. Too bad didn't last very long since Anet nerfed it right way but we only did it for the lols.

I remember that build, spamming Incoming and Mending refrain was hard.

I remember when I played GW on a PC without graphics card, only a bad graphics chip and it would still run with 15 FPS <3

The nostalgic feelings of this game are incredibly strong for me. Only really matched by Age of Empires 1 and its expansion pack in the late 90s, early 2000s on Microsoft's 'The Zone'.

Either I have an incredible memory of most events or I just think I do. Like Lynie - I also remember playing without a dedicated graphics card (and also a bad monitor) - the computer actually doesn't function at all anymore, sad. Now that I have a decent computer and a large monitor - I can't imagine ever going back or even playing on a laptop (I did that sometimes).

Hmmm it seems like almost everything has been brought up in this thread.

I'll add: I remember several years ago coming across a team of 8 Paladins (those preset pvp builds) but it was at least 1-2 years after the preset builds had been taken down.

I remember choosing the Paladin premade build with Healing Hands and winning 1v3 against 3 warriors in RA...
...under the bridge in Heroes' Crypt when we ignored the obelisk

Most amusing obs mode ever
Silentium Altum, by any chance? We did that... 5 E/mo obsidian spike / healers, 1x blood nec with BiP, spiritspammer, sin flagrunner/anti-split. Got to rank 7 on the GvG ladder briefly back in the summer of 2007 I think (the season before Eurospike, anyways).

----------

Also I remember farming an alliance smurf guild up from creation to top-50 in a single weekend of pretty much continuous play (as soon as a player or two dropped someone else from the alliance would step in) with IWAY/Paragon spam that won so fast that if we hadn't teamwiped in the first two minutes, we'd all resign and just start the next game as that was the fastest way to farm rank. Very very funny at the time (during the Eurospike season, which I guess was the end of 2007 or roundabout then?)
