Right now I see strong necro enchant stripping, invoke, dervish onslaught bots, and obligatory ranger rupts as the go to meta for ra, getting 2 onslaught a necro/invoke an a decent monk is nearly garunteed 25 streak.

Blind/anti melee will get you plenty of glad points by itself, along with blackout mesmers

The reason i don't like a blackout build is because it involves no skill at all.
Heck, lets everyone run blackout then.

True, this works but i would rather d-shot/magebane the monk instead of doing a brainless blackout.

Troll Ungent is a no go, drop it and take natural stride instead.

Lately I have been using my Ele in RA a fair bit and was wondering if the build I am using is good as I have had a few suggestions that I should change some skills.

The Bar I use is...

Invoke
Lightning Bolt
Shell Shock
Protectors Defence
Blinding Flash
Aura Of Restoration
Air Attunement
Res Signet

Is this a good bar? Apparantly I should have skills like GoLE, Gale, Shield Of Force.

Mostly people complain about me taking Protector's Defence. Is this really a bad skill? Mostly I use it to look to cover the Monk or if a melee/ranger starts attacking me.

Any suggestions woud be good as I don't really like being the fail one and let down the team...

Also with an Invoke does that bar often get to 25 wins or I should run something more 'Team Arenaish' as I much prefer to sync with friends as to doing 'random' Random Arena which is too painful :O

Just tunnel vision low AR targets, with heals you will force monks to heal themselves or die, allowing your team to roll the rest. Pet will hit unblockable for 110+ Enraged every 5 sec, and roughly 40-50 normal, on top of your 30-40+ dismember with perma 25%ims.

It's fun, and with another one you will faceroll.

Normally you would blind enemy physicals, so Protectors Defense doesn't work that effectively, unless they have 3 derws, then its fine ^^

Assasin/Paragon (5 second killer..)

-YOU MUST HAVE ALOT of Energy armor adds or you will not have enough to pull off this build.
16 Critical
15 Dagger
A little bit for regen on shadow.. skills.. optional..
Dump the rest into command.. or use a cruel weapon add.. for deep wound 1st ask questions later.

Assasin: Unsuspecting strike, Way of the assasin, Critical defenses, fox fangs, horns of the ox, Death blossom (can replace shadow refuge if you want a garaunteed funeral..or else you'll have to spam 2 skills + a vampiric weapon should kill an opponent.. fast after first knockdown.), Shadow refuge..
Paragon: "Find thier weakness" ..of course.. ._.

Assasin can be even more deadly with desperation strike + vampiric weapon.. its risky.. but i've killed many who were like "WTF?!?! happened?!" dropped to ground before they knew it.

Lets be real here.. we are trying to get off the kill in seconds.. players panic when life drops tremendous.. try to heal or use stance.. to you may want to sub with way of the fox.. for sure death no line no wait.

I normaly play a warrior. Enjoy.

thats like saying 1 block/blind skill is all you need to completely shutdown physicals which is completely wrong.

let me guess you get killed 90% of the time before you can even finish half your combo

No. I actually take home ALOT of wins and compliments from other players for my, "to the point" syle of playing. Just dont be the first to telelport in. I admit this tactic has gotten harder.. since people know who I am and how quikc I act. You have to use common sense and a little luck.. and not just port to the target and get burned/insidioused/degened etc. out.. Try to use the opponents fear of you killing a soft target to draw them out and allow a tougher ally in like a warrior or another Assasin.. maybe a ranger to get off a couple shots to allow an entry.. all it takes is a 5 sec distraction.

I play on opportunity and good pvp tactics and do extremely well. All I'm saying.

Your bar seems to be making a poor trade of utility for direct spiking power, in that your spike isn't particularly better than a more traditional combo like this one, and your only snare/IMS is a dual attack. The Wastrel's bar is essentially equal or superior in every respect except yours has a bunch of unnecessary defense.

If you want a more aggressive single-target spike, you could always go with a classic Palm Strike bar. It's really not as good as the Wastrel's bar since you lose mobility, but it is closer in nature to the bar you created.

Just for fun, math time (at 14/13 spec on your bar for less suicide). Conjure/Vamp damage is included in the non-AL figure rather than the uncalculated base dagger damage (#hits):
Your bar (Unsuspecting-Fox-Horns-Unsuspecting-Fox-Blossom) over approx 6 seconds - 281 non-AL damage+ ~9 hits
Wastrels (Leaping-Fox-Horns-Falling-Twisting) over approx 5 seconds - 244 non-AL + 7 hits
Palm Strike (PS-Trampling-Falling-Horns-Falling-Twisting) over approx 7.5 seconds - 321 non-AL damage + 8 hits

You will obviously deal more damage if you keep your current dual superior rune setup, but you should really consider going down to minor runes. These bars are also far more energy friendly, are are going to play more reliably.

I'm currently using this mesmer bar and enjoying it very much:

6+1 FC
12+1+1 Domination
11+1 Inspiration

Mind Wrack
Ether Phantom
Energy Surge
Ether Lord
Feedback
Drain Enchantment
Ether Feast
Res Sig.

It doesnt have much damage, but its a very universal E denial build and can shut down any caster. You just have to hope you get a monk and 2 damage dealers.

Keep posting it, I love playing against squishy melee with no blocking skills or blind removal, makes for easy games

That's a cool bar and i already played it, but the problem in RA is that people bring in OP bars or builds to counter dervishs...Your build can't really work properly if you have no healer in team, and even if ...

Your build is way to easy to counter:
- an air ele camping 40/40( happens 95% of time) will spam blind on you on recharge. Besides, most are using a dervish stance kding you in case you hit them...On the same resort, i'm not going to mention 12345 earth eles
- monks are usually grabbing either teleports, either balanced stances, thus you will hardly kd it, thus do anything...
- most rangers are going in with the aim to camp rez sigs, but camping hammer bash will be easy too...

I personaly just use Crit def, Sin's remedy, WotA, jagged, golden fangs, death blossom, exhausting assault, rez sig... It's maybe not the best bar, but it's the most effective against what people run today in my opinion...

What's good in this build is the frequency of spikes. If a war/derv linebacks you can spike him in a few secs and keep him locked down.
But against blind you can't do nothing except wait or kill the ele lol

Anyway it's for fun, not for being competitive tho.

It's not just blind, it's ranger dshots, empathy, all other sort of hexes, kd from warrior, all block stances, all anti-kd stances. There's no team in RA that will appreciate your bar, therefore you'll just be leeching points if you're lucky enough to get 3 useful players in the team.
