I agree on the glyph, it is almost unusable, a part from the beginning of the match. What do you think about changing whirlwind for bflash and keep orb?

This is a build I've been using for a while now, and wondering if there's anything that could make it better or more effective:

15 Strength
15 Swordsmanship

-Enraging Charge
-Crippling Slash
-Barbarous Slash
-Gash
-Sun and Moon Slash
-Lion's Comfort
-Mending Touch
-Resurrection Signet

No IAS is fail. It's +50% damage and +50% adrenaline. It isn't optional, ever. Also, Barbarous Slash is useless in that build. You've got bleeding from Cripslash (not that it matters because you should be in an IAS) and the +damage is outdone by Standing Slash.

Also, 1 Major rune and 1 Superior rune is killing your health for no useful purpose. Go either way of a 14/13 split depending on whether you care about the EC breakpoint. Not sure generally about running Cripslash these days either. Doesn't seem to have been in the meta for ages. Then again, I haven't been paying attention to PvP lately, not that I pay it much attention generally anyway.

It's 33% faster, not 50%. And which IAS would be best? Flail seems fail to me, since it lowers your movement, making it much harder to stick to kiting targets.
Frenzy makes you take double damage, and you'll get spiked the moment opponents see you use it.
I guess Flurry would be the best option then? 33% IAS vs 25% less damage, although it only last 5 seconds, and it costing me 5 Energy doesn't seem to make it worth it much...
Although you've got a good point about Standing Slash.

33% faster attack speed means you get 50% more hits in. (I know it doesn't make much sense)
Frenzy is the best IAS in the game, rush is the best stance to cancel it with if you see you're going to take large damage soon.
The best Cripslash bar is pretty much set in stone: C-slash, Gash, Sun & Moon, Savage Slash, Bulls Strike, Frenzy, Rush, Rez sig.
Variations can include a conjure or if you like mending touch/plague touch, disarm, dblow, shock etc etc.
Using a superior rune is never worth it, 1 Major is possible on a warrior, but imo not worth it.
Also, don't bother with selfheals, if you don't get a proper healing character you lose anyway.

Read deluxe's post.

Honestly though, you're far better off running something with more disruption in RA.

Put warmonger's weapon and some channeling on that and you've got one of my favorite arena tricks. Casters bite it like crazy to WMW because they don't know how it works.

Default Is RA a good place for a beginning player to learn pvp?

Am I OK learning PVP in the RA or will I just learn bad habits? So far I have 'fun' with various degen Ranger builds. I am mainly interested at this point in gaining faction and some experience with the mechanics of pvp combat. I have played very little guild wars, and have played more PVP than PVE at this point.

Is there a different build one would suggest for a beginning than poison arrow or burning arrow ranger?

Thanks!

Normal BA and Magebane bars are both perfect for RA - you'll learn quite a bit about playing Apply Poison rangers that can transfer to other formats.

Important stuff to keep in mind that I can think of: interrupting, knowing what to interrupt, poison spread, staying alive, making sure that your Apply gets up.

Thanks, if I am in it just for the learning and the faction, should I bother with bringing a rez? I read somewhere that most RA players are not worth 3 seconds and a slot on a skill bar...

Yes, you should. Even a bad player with a bad bar is going to be much more useful than an 8th skill in almost all situations.

If you haven't read it yet, here's Yue's guide to Rangers. The info is outdated (skill updates etc) but the basics still stick IMHO.

OK, I recognize that cookie cutter build are such for a reason, but I cannot resist playing with something a little different, and I would like some feedback on it:

13 marksmanship
11 wilderness survival
13 expertise

1. poison arrow
2. distracting shot
3. savage shot
4. expert focus
5. needling shot
6. troll unguent
7. natural stride
8. rez

So what I have been doing with this is poisoning everyone, cycle targets and interrupt, and when i find a target with less than 50% health, spam needling shot.

Things go really badly when I stand still too long looking for a target to interrupt or needle, but when I keep moving I can get a few kills in.

I see, that would double the pressure and cover the poison...but I can still keep needling and a high marks and the same playstyle without being too inferior?

Drop needling, bring mtouch / revealed hex / leech signet imo. Utility > Meager damage.

hey just started to PVP, but I am worried that my items aren't good enough, I don't have many of the runes or insignias unlocked to put on my armour. I have all the skills available for the builds I am working with (taken from pvxwiki).

I wanted to buy the item PVP unlock pack, but I am getting a fraud block on my cards because I am trying to purchase outside of my home country (annoying!).
How do I go about getting up to date items an all of the insignia/runes etc? I have one level 20 Warrior I only have prophecies right now.

Also I want to watch some PVP videos, where might I find them so I can pick up some good tactics ideas from them.
