Spirit Shackles is amazing. Too bad it got nerfed after 2 years or so of being under the radar.

Should be pretty self-explanatory. Dunno if there's something better than eburn to put in there.

Almost certainly Me/E. Running diversion without fastcast is stupid.

But do you have the energy to spam bsurge? I know that running a bsurge dom was fun when it was at 5 energy, but I just wonder how your bar takes it and if you can really spam it or if you have to save it.

I would say it would be a thing like, Oh that sin teled in... blind him. As apposed to, oh a Warrior with no adrenaline is attacking.... (Unless you have lots of energy 'cause of no casters.)

Well I was wondering due to the lack of Blackout on a gale mesmer and lack of energy to sustain B Surge...

One of the countless rangers in RA sticks a poison arrow into to you what happens then? gg no self heal. Most Mesmers bring at least [skill]Ether Feast[/skill] into RA.

Playing on a team without a Monk is hopeless anyway, why build for it? Take the losses faster when you don't have one, and then you wont be a gimp when you do.

Aggressive teams (particularly those with sufficient shutdown) can go far in RA without a monk, but if you're not prepared to deal with even the most mundane of threats, they can fall apart rather quickly. Particularly if you are just shooting for a quick 2-3 wins, being able to deal with said mundane threats is crucial. Besides, how good are RA monks?

EDIT -- (Well, ever since the ZB introduction and WoH buffs, the answer is probably "better than they deserve to be.")

that goes against the whole point of RA, you should just play TA if you are just waiting for someone to heal you

By that logic, no one should ever monk in RA. I mean, you should just go play TA if you are just waiting for someone to do damage for you, right?

Also, you should never expect to have teammates that can do anything useful, even if it's as simple as T+Space. Otherwise, you should just be in TA. That means you should plan for a build that can not only keep itself alive against an entire team, but be able to kill an entire team while doing it. Good luck. If you find one, let me know. Oh, and it can't use stances, Enchantments, or any skills with a cast time >1/4 second, since everyone else is expecting to play by themselves and is going to have things to disrupt all those. Oh, right, you have to be able to disrupt them too. Don't forget hex/condition removal, either. And you're fitting it into yout 8 slot skillbar. *sigh*

Bringing a heal probably isn't going to gimp you too much, and it does open up options, as you're more able to split off from your team, push harder, or relieve some pressure on your Monk. However, there's a difference between slotting a heal and bringing a tank bar, and not bringing a heal usually only makes a difference if you got a team of decent players without a monk. That doesn't happen often in RA.

The whole point of RA is to do what you want.

There is some merit to that idea, the trouble is greed an laziness. Many people have discovered that the easiest way to farm glad points in RA is to Monk, so you will never get rid of them. Of course most of the time you still don't get a party with a Monk in it, so you have to take that into consideration with your build, or just die a lot from simple degen/damage that you can't deal with. That's why there is an over supply of Rangers in RA at the moment running Apply Poison, and carrying Troll, Mending Touch. They know that their conditions are going to pnw the nubs that don't bring basic heals, cause the chance is very good they don't have a Monk.

Currently in RA im running:

Me/Mo ~Fast Cast Healer

Signet of Rejuvenation
Word of Healing {e}
Guardian
Prot Spirit
Cure Hex
Dimiss Conditon
Channeling (or Power Drain)
Rez Chant

FC: 12 (major)
Prot: 8
Healing: 12
Inspiration: 6

~

Pretty fun build since you can cast WoH in less than .4 seconds and guardian at about .5. I give interrupters nightmares when they try to catch my WoH and can sometimes even outmonk Mo/A primaries running ZB builds. Definitely fun when you want some crazy proactive FC monking. Signet of Rejuv is also godly with 12 FC, its near instant.

eman is actually pretty good with GoLE and PD... but no, you can't spam bsurge, just time it to make them miss their spikes. if they are training your healer it's easy, just use it on the enchanted melee, they will either have to stop training or they'll fail.

[skill]Rampage as One[/skill]
[skill]Pious Assault[/skill]
[skill]Eremite's Attack[/skill]
[skill]Chilling Victory[/skill]
open slot
[skill]Charm Animal[/skill]
[skill]Comfort Animal[/skill]
[skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
11+1+3 expertise
11 scythe mastery
8+1 beast mastery
take a zealous and an elemental scythe.
use zealous mainly and elemental when you are not in battle to regen energy.
keep rampage as one up as much as possible and use eremites attack and the optional slot as your main attacks
when the target is around 60-70% hp spike with pious-eremites-chilling.
dont use RaO to much or it will drain your energy.

optional slot:[skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill]or[skill]Banishing Strike[/skill]or[skill]Disrupting Lunge[/skill]
disrupting lunge is fun for enemys getting randomly interupted skills. victorious is nice just for an attack and banishing is nice with all the spirit spammers.
