Death-leveling a dire pet using heroes?
Hiya,
I have a ranger character that I'm working towards legendary survivor, and I'm looking for a pet to augment my character. While everyone has a preference for species and skills etc with pets, it seems to be commonly accepted that the best way to evolve a dire pet is to death-level them and then charm them.
Now, I don't want to sacrifice my survivor, but I really want that dire white tiger, and my question is this. Can I use my heroes as fodder for the pet to sharpen it's claws on? Setting heroes up with sac skills and sup runes would in theory allow me to death level my future pet, but would it work? Is there a hole in my logic somewhere?
Please let me know, ok?

it will work just put all sups on your hero
and after 1 death your hero will have 1 health
and you can be far away or something have antoher like hero monk to rez that foo and make sure your monk has some heals for itself... and yea your other dude will just keep dying maybe take 30min to an hour... i dunno
ive death lvled like 5 pets caue i get tired of them...
i have like 6k deaths cause i usually go out then hahah or movie...
but yea should work with 2 heroes a rezer and the fodder

hmm, now I'm wondering if bipping oneself to deadness gives the pet exp once it's aggroed...
edit: yup no need to use supes, just equip the hero with bip and use it manually

You can use a hero to death level and do the final capping.
Yeah, Superior runes is the fastest, cos after a while, the pet will one-shot the hero, making it faster.

I dont know if anybody else ever thought of it, but instead of death leveling... I just used the Master of Damage to give my pets free damage without getting damaged back. About once every level or so I would go to the Master of Damage and just burn some time letting the pets beat on the master for the three minute spans....even at low beast master they get to rack up a lot of unanswered points that way.
I recently did this not only for me, but for my 3 most favorite heroes all at once. Ended up with 3 Dires and one Elder (if I had gone back and done just a little more to the master of damage before getting the last level it would have been dire too, for now not too worried about it, I'l re-do it sometime if I get bored enough) This even worked for two of the heros that only had a "token" beast master level of 2 or 3. Talkora ended up with the Elder despite having beast master 10, I figure because she sits backline which affects her pet somehow (makes her pet the last to engage in combat)....plus while she seemed quick to heal any pets when possible, she would invariably not rez her pet until after battles were over.
The extra time spent with the master of damage also helped me tweak and refine my and my hero's builds rather nicely.
Super easy.

Also, if you try Bip you don't need the pet to be attacking you, he can go after the monk and still get exp for the death.

ok , im gonna sound like a noob here but..
isnt dire the one where the pet does significantly more dmg than the ranger as it levels?
i just tamed my rainbow phoenix, and put on the beastmaster build( ranger) and whomped grawls by ice floe for a few hrs.
evolved into dire rainbow ph
that was my understanding of it anyhoo.

pretty sure the way i described is the fastest because you can go afk forever
and the other methods described means you have to be at the comp which is a waste of time if you want to make that thing dire srsly afk = ftw since its an annoying task

Do heroes actually give exp?
i tried doing this with a polar bear for like 10 minutes
and it remained level 5.
