Well, maybe w/n is an ingenious idea of farming griffons, but I don't think you should be jumping to conclusion that smiting is bad. I really wanna see a screenshot of your w/n killing all the griffons outside augury rock at once without dying. Otherwise, I will still say that smiting is overall more efficient.
Just because a build is popular, it doesn't mean it is not good.

Btw, I only use my mesmer to farm griffons and his secondary is not monk.

^ I tried spiteful spirit, it takes quite a bit to cast. I tried spiteful spirit and mark of pain and the griffon that you cast spiteful spirit and mark of pain on will die so fast, the hexes will drop and you'll drop along with it. Unless you cast spiteful on one, but whatever griffon you use mark of pain on the first time will die quickly, then I highly doubt after you casted spiteful and mark of pain both once, you'll have enough energy to cast it, and keep casting it after that griffon you put it on has died. Unless you are doing weak ass damage with your weapon, then I don't see how mark of pain will do you any good but killing 1 griffon and getting the rest of the griffons weak. I use shadow of fear and um mark of pain, but like I said. After you cast those high energy spells as a warrior, after 2 or maybe 3; you're shit out of luck.

I will agree. I shouldn't say smiting is bad either, heck, it's quite safe when you consider what I go through to farm 20 griffons and 10 minos. [my hp drops to single digits, then I spike heal for 510]

But I don't see safety as either fun or thrilling. Fact of the matter is, NO SMITE build can generate 300+dmg every 10s... At least, not efficiently... I can do said damage using Flurry, Mark of Pain, and the occassional Cyclone Axe...

I'll put up a pic of a ton of dead bodies if you wish but right now, I don't think proving I can do it is the point...

Um 300 damage in 10 seconds? thats easy. I use Eoe, Shield of Judgement, Symbol of Wrath and Balths aura. Not necessarily in that order but before i found this post i could do 300 damage in 10 seconds, Its just not all at once, Itll be spread out over the 10 seconds. Once i added EoE i can gather everything and drop it in 1 cast of each of those.

Grats to the orig poster for EoE, works like a charm.

Mark of Pain + Spiteful Spirit on a W/N is hilarious to watch and is quite effective, forget glads defense all you war solo'ers. But I still prefer killing the 35+ mobs out there (even rockshots) at once with my monk build in under 20 seconds.
