Default Afraid to farm?

Just wondered if anyone else was becoming afraid to solo farm...

I have never been much of a farmer, I did the old etin runs a few times before AoE was nerfed, but that's about it.

However, after playing for a year I have finally decided to get some FoW armour for my ranger, and that of course costs a lot of money.

I had around 500K saved up over the last year, but that still leaves about 900K to go!

So, I have made a pretty good troll farming build (not a 55 btw) and in the last week have made around 125K or so, however with the current crop of accidental bannings of characters by the bot detection programs I am starting to get worried that I could fall victim to that too.

I really enjoy this game but this fear of getting banned accidentally is kind of spoiling my enjoyment.

Anyone else feel this way?

I know that there will be at least one reply that says "if you are not using a bot, then you have nothing to worry about", but to be honest, seeing the cries for help from people who have been banned and who swear that they have not been using bots, that is little comfort.

as long as u arent guilty, its fine

i think i got marked as a botter for chest running @ raisu, since sometimes i would spend 100+ keys on 1 run with more ppl

but, since sometimes i did different things like hoho or so, i was quickly ditched by gw support s a botter, so im fine still chest running

I wouldn't worry about it. When I worked for my FoW armor, I bounced around different areas. Not that I was worried about getting the "Bot Boot," but because doing the same thing over and over and over and over gets a bit dull.

Even if you are banned for "botting" and you werent, appeal the ban via email and if they cannot prove that you have been using a bot, they should be unbanning you either immediately or very soon .

I've thought about it a time or two. When farming for long periods of time, movement can become very mechanical, when you get in the groove.

I worry more about transfering large sums of gold, one way, between my 2 accounts than actually farming though.

I don't really have the patience to do anything bot-like. After an hour or so of farming one area I get REALLY bored and go do something else for a while. I suggest rotating your crops, or just simply enjoying the game rather than performing endless farming run after run.

I farm Minos with a 55 in Elona and the thought of being banned as a bot has popped into my head a couple of times, personally my worry is that should I get banned for being a bot and they investigate, they could keep me banned for other offenses as my record is not what I would call "spotless"

I am afraid of farming though, but for a different reason; it ruins an already crumbling economy.

If people were banned for solo farming I'd have been banned enough for all of gwg.

This post has actually prompted a few people to ask me in game how I made 125+K in a week and how long I farmed etc. Well, I farmed about three hours a night, for about six days in a row, so that is 18 hours, which equates to about 7K an hour.

Actually, I don't think that amount is very good, but for what it's worth here are my tips:

1) Have your inventory as empty as possible and pick up everything.

2) Use an ID kit on every drop before selling to merchant. You only need one drop to come up "Precious" and have a value of 200+ gold for you to break even, and every other drop tends to add about 20g or so to its value after being ID'd.

3) Salvage any Highly Salvagable items for the materials. Dont salvage any Highly Salvagable items that have mods or you will be likely to get the mod not the materials and the mod will only be worth 25g

4) Keep troll tusks until you have 250. Then sell them at Droks to the buyers who are offering 18/20g per tusk - or if you can be bothered, trade them with the troll tusk collector for collectors weapons and then sell the weapons to the merchant.

5) Don't buy any keys. If the trolls drop a key though I have been using it.

6) If you get a Gold drop, make sure you check the price of the weapon or its mod. Often it is better to salvage the perfect mod rather than try and sell the weapon.

7) Don't waste time trying to sell poor gold or purple weapons. They dont sell. Just merchant them and get back to killing trolls.

That's about it I guess. Nothing special or sophisticated, just some simple common sense.

Hope this helps.

I farm everyday many hours, I dont afraid about it. I just think about those Eleno's Reach town bots, they makes me so pissed. People that cant farm without bot is a lazy player. There is no hacks needed and nothing worried about getting banned for no reason. My all characters are made to farm, I got no destination where to spend them, mostly getting armors for different characters or weapons (I always buy weapons that I dont even need, lol )

Just to say, go on farm and do it! :>

What about the chinese gold farmers, where theres like 4 people playing on the same account, each one playing 6 hour shifts, doing the same things for less than 1.00$ an hour, or even worse, a day. Think of how they feel! Well...Yeah....but uh...Kidding about the gold farming thing. But no, I'm not afraid of solo farming, because I do FA and AB so often that there's no way GWsupport could say I was botting.

I really doubt that a lot of people have been wrongfully banned.

First of all, it's easy to notice if someone is using a bot or not. Bots have a reaction time much faster than a normal person, and Anet has the ability to look at a player's reactions to determine if they are faster than normal. You can also tell by the repetitiveness of the player's actions, or the lack of variety in a player's actions. A bot clearly acts differently than a real person. Anet would be stupid to make such mistakes, because that could cost them a lot of valuable customers.

And second, I would expect people to complain about how they were wrongfully banned, even if they were completely guilty. Anyone who cheats in online games probably only cares about themselves, and thus wouldn't see the error in their ways. And if they thought that Anet was stupid enough to not notice that they were cheating, they probably think Anet is stupid enough to give them back their account.
