Ive been using that exact build on that quest for some time as well shadar.

btw nice video, good quality. What program did you use?

Last few days I must have done at least 20 runs and not a single Dead Sword has dropped, last week I did about 4 runs and had 3 drop. Been nerfed?

However, it's still good money 2-2.5k per run usually.

i did this with my ele, and here it is, little different not much tho.

E/Me

12 inspiration
16 earth
6 energy storage

stoneflesh aura
sliver armor
echo [E]
aura of restoration
channeling
stone striker
mantra of earth
mantra of resolve

20% enchant helps, and of course as mush energy out of ur equipment as u can get. and no, u dont need geomancers armor or extra armor spells to negate almost all dmg. the occasional zelots fire does a little dmg, but with aura of rest ull be fine.

basicly, u use stoneflesh at ALL times, mantra of resolve and channeling so long as theres warriors, cuz theres enough enemies to take care of energy. once they are dead, move to the monks and use stone striker and mantra of earth to take care of energy. i think u can get 4 sliver armors in a row, not sure need more testing. i just figured this build out lol. obviously echo and sliver are the variants, cuz the other 6 take care of survival and energy very well. theres about 15-20 secs between sliver cycles and it slows way down when uve got fewer enemies but thats what i came up with. guess its a variant of a terra tank, and no im not takin full credit. thanks to all the experienced ele's out there who got me to think outside the fire magic box

Its fully random, u can get 3 in 3 runs, or 0 in 70 runs. I still think its not more worth the time.

Ive done probably 50 runs of this just to finish my ancient armor for my rit. I did not get a dead sword until my 20th or so, which I got two at once almost. I have no had another one since.

I just use it as a source of 2.5k gold in 10-15 minutes.

FRAPS for capture, some avisynth filtering for noise reduction and sharpening.. and XviD codec for final compression before uploading to youtube.

I've been using a variant of the UW Elementalist to do this run:

[skill]Glyph of Concentration[/skill][skill]Sandstorm[/skill][skill]Earthquake[/skill][skill]Aftershock[/skill][skill]Mantra of Earth[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill][skill]Sliver Armor[/skill]

Attributes: Inspiration = 9, Earth Magic = 16 (12 + 3 + 1), Energy Storage = 10 (9 + 1)

Gear: Any earth staff with 20% FSR and 20% enchant extension.

The build is inscredibly resilient and has yet to suffer a death from this deadsword farm. Simply cast Mantra -> Stone Striker -> Stoneflesh -> Glyph, charge in, then cast Sliver Armor + renew StoneFlesh again. Keep recasting Glyph whenever it becomes available to protect your spells from interrupts. Use the primary damage combo is Sandstorm -> Earthquake -> Aftershock after grouping the slaves into a large AE-crowd. Finish off low-health slaves with Earthquake + Aftershock.

SV/AV and Mantra of Concentration are completely unnecessary since the slaves never seem to interrupt Glyph of Concentration (just don't queue it after any other spells). Kill speed is a good deal faster than war/rit VWK builds. I'll try to cap Shockwave a bit later and see if it can improve kill speeds.

I already found a req-9 max deadsword, but this farm generates a good chunk of gold while we don't have favor.

Vwk is the best build with a ritualist mesmer. I can do the run 6-8mins. And it is safer too because what I do is just drop the ashes before the last 1 or 2 in the mob dies wait like 4 secs to regain arcane echo cast VW to kill them and run to the next. Rince and repeat. I have only died once in like 50 runs and that was due to a mass spawn of only melee which is once in a blue( you can still take them out with mass melee i just wasnt prepared for it and let my mantra expire). I also got so comfortable and on time that i decide to take out the giants in the side with a wurm by the time i get back to king Im already ready to enter aggro..It is perfect timing..Ive literally spent 100k and went back to this run and my bank seems like it hasnt even notched a bit..I have made so much cash on this run I can start chest running again. Before I was just doing arkjok ward tusk killing with my Vwk build and physical resistance (another great way to make cash if you are not seeking pushing your characters through to the end.) I strongly consider everyone to do this before they nerf it just like they did maatu keep and temple.

edit: just so ppl are not confused with what weapons work best honestly I use a custom made wand with 20% restoration 15-1 energy and the straw effigy from end game faction 20% restoration +30 hp I like to see my energy jump lol. But I think the golden boar head scepter from end game NF is also great to.

Between VWK and mass AE damage elems, I find that VWK takes forever when lots of melee slaves are involved -- they repeatedly hit/run and only attack in groups of 3. I guess all builds have their trade-offs.

Thats why i don't use the axe build, i use a heavy restoration with a alem's remedy. It cuts the time down on those groups of more than three (i have taken a group of all melee slave spirits with this build). This is mainly due to the fact that every once in awhile i get a back to back VwK, and also to the fact that after VwK wears off i can "pull" a melee back to me that has run away to keep him from regenerating. I focus on one at a time in this way. Granted its still not fast by any means, just consistant.

Just started doing this...

3rd run got a Gold Req10 Dead Sword. Not so sure that they "greatly reduced the quality of drops". i did 5 more runs. No deadswords, but i got 3 more gold items...

Mebe just my beginners luck. That is just a few instances i had today... Btw, the Rit build quoted in the OP is VERY efficient...

Yes, that's 7 skills. You can put whatever you like in the last slot, it's completely unnecessary. If you want some extra safety, bring a heal (aura of restoration or ether feast).

Basically, keep up resolve when fighting the melee slaves and use earth to recharge your energy when you need it. When all melee are dead you can keep mantra of earth up permanently. Glyphing Sliver Armor means there's only about 1-2s downtime out of every 15s and with that many things hitting you it's way better than Sandstorm, although gets quite slow when you need to kill the last couple guys.

sad to say that this farm does not yield enough plat in HM. Prior to HM, you average around 2-3 plat now, you average 1-2 plat if you are lucky.
