I've done this 200+ times and only got a couple golds, but none one them were Dead Swords. I farmed little enough each day so that the anti-farm code couldn't catch me as well. Bad luck? Possibly, but if you ask me, the chance of actually seeing one of the Slave's with the sword is astronomically low.

Not really, I've gotten around 8-10 dead swords off this run, so the drop rate isn't THAT low. + I seriously doubt you have done 200+ runs considering you "farmed little enough each day". Also, drops are random, get used to it.

I have done a few runs every day now for 2 weeks and still no dead sword , only some crappy gold offhand items not even max^^ , maybe my account is bugged..

well I decided to try this again after a fruitless day a week ago... first go, gold max req 9 Dead Sword to replace my req 10...

Anarion, the hate, so unlike you....

But the drops, like Anarion states, are purely random. I've had runs with two Dead Sword drops and I've have periods of no drops over 10-12 runs. Purely random.

Ok, after reading over this whole thread, i now have a farming build for warrior, ele, monk, dervish and rituallist.

That leaves necro, mesmer, ranger, assassin and paragon out in the cold...

So, my question is: does anyone have a nice build for one of these professions, just to complete the farming list?

EDIT: hm, that dervish build is really slow, i have yet to test the warrior build too. Maybe someone has a better dervish build than the 130hp?

Actually, I do believe if you try to do a Me/E build, you may be successful properly successful if you can make the necessary changes.

No Elementalist Elite is 100% needed for the E/Me Dead Sword, but you could always use one to help the Mesmer primary if need be.

Well technically, ANY profession can do this farm. You just need to have a monk secondary. Go ahead and flame me if you want, but I have been successfully completing this run with my Necro using all monk skills. I haven't gotten my Monk there yet and wanted to farm it so I did it. Sure, it is not the most efficient way to do it, and other builds are faster and superior and all that, but if you just want a dead sword, it is fine to do. You just need to set up like a 55 monk. All superior runes on your armor, the -50 cesta and weapon with enchanting mod (helps since you can't get atts above 12 as monk secondary). Put all your points into Smiting and Protection to get as much out of them as you can. It takes me about 20 minutes to complete a run on average. Sometimes a little faster, sometimes a little longer depending on how well I avoid getting interupted.

I think it would be cool to see how other people are doing with this farm. I kept track of some numbers on my runs today, they are as follows:
Runs: 12
Dead Swords: 3 (2 max, 1 non max)
Gold Items: 5 (not including the deads)
Purple Items: 13
Runes: 28
Dyes: 8
$ from Merchant: 38,604

If anyone else would like to post unexaggerated drops I think that would be cool.

Ok, I've been trying this farm all day with my 55 necro/monk, using the following build, and the only problem i have is with the enimy monk spirits useing smite hex. I cant use SS beacuse they smite hex it off, same with spoi victor, and thats only IF I can cast them before being interupted with savage. Any suggestions as to what i should do or suggestions to my build? (PS: i used SoJ, and they just run away from me before they die)
Build:
Mending
Watchful Spirit
Balthazars spirit
Essence Bond
Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Ulcerous lungs (owns if they use chants or shouts, which they do)
Spiteful Spirit

Attributes (without rune bonus)
Soul Reaping 3
Curses 12

it doesnt help if they cant bleed because they are ghosts.and since the only shout they have is charge i dont think its worth the slot.

What skill setup are you using there? Shield of judgement as dmg dealer I reackon?

Maybe not (they aren't selling anyway), but I bet you got a ton of money and materials from salvaging the drops. I have a Guildie who uses the Insignias and Runes from the armor drops and mods from the weapons to outfit his heroes.

Yes, the melee mobs scatter, but they don't until they're about halfway dead and they usually come back before the third VwK expires. Once it does, Vengeful Weapon takes care of what's left. Having Rit as secondary does lower the damage done to the mobs and the healing received from those skills however.
