Default Need help with SS/55 UW Farm

Ok, so me (55hp) and a friend (SS) are trying to solo the UW, the problem is, we can only clear the Aatxes and the Nightmares from the 1st part, then when we get the quest from that guy, I let the Grassping Darkness attack me, but when the SS puts Spiteful Spirit on them, afew seconds later, they chase him, even though he is well out of aggro range. Any help would be great. Thanks

And also, do you recommend HM or NM for UW with this build? We got 2 Ecto drops just from the Aatxes in HM.

I personaly use HM when farming the UW. As there is two of you, you want at least twice as many drops to break even.
It might be that because the game is recognizing damage from SS as damage directly from your friend and so is going after him. Just tell him to stay as far back as possible to minimze the chances of him getting attacked.

Btw SS counts as that AoE scatter thing so maybay it's just that the monsters are running away in any random direction and come too close to the necro.

...don't quote me.

You need to stop moving after he hits them with SS. Ball them up once. If his aggro circle touches them before you're done, STOP.

Your necro *will* die if you start moving around after his aggro circle has touched the mobs or he has used a spell on them. If you can't ball them up before he gets too close, the mob is just going to take a little while to kill.

If you just care about ectos, just do NM. Things are easier to kill there and the smites don't scatter.

Don't forget they may also break off and tag team if you aggro 2 groups simultaneously, so it pays to push ahead a little to give him room to step off.

If he stays on edge of aggro and one steps back for a breather, it'll likely see him if he's still in aggro and go after him.

in HM over 3 enemies = scatter. NM is better for SS/55. Look at the link that MisterB put, that will answer all your questions.

True. However, this only holds true when the necro has already allowed his aggro circle to touch something before the groups or balled (even if the circle hasn't completely touched the mobs, casting a spell has the same result).

If you can make the necro understand that he has to stay back for a while, then it's all good.

Like a few ppl said, the monk must not move once your necromancer is in aggro. In other words, the necro should wait a fair distance away from the monk, wait for him to aggro and position the enemies (i.e.: make them adjacent so that SS can hit all of them), before coming in range to cast. However, it is not true that the necromancer WILL die if the aggro breaks; he can just bring the mob following him to the monk and run around him until they stop chasing and go for him instead, given the monk does not move.

AI-speaking, once a character (here, necro) enters a mob's aggro range or does an action in battle (e.g.: cast an enchantment on monk, cast a spell), they will register him as the next target, therefore if the monk moves (or dies), they will split and some will go after the necro instead.

Also, as mentioned above, in Hard Mode, an aggro of over 3 foes will cause some to split and chase anyone else in range (i.e.: necro). If all of this is applied and the graspings still chase the necro, you might want to make sure the necro has at least equal (or higher) armor level than the monk.
