Default P/W Raptor Farm

Hey all, I'd like to share this build with you all. It farms the raptors in NM so is only profitable during event weekends. Inspiration from Lord Victo (on gwonline) and glads def farming builds. So, onto the build.

Attribs
Leadership 9+1+1 or (5+1+1)
8+1 Motivation (Only required if you have a motiv shield, use lower leadership to achieve this)
9 Command
12 Tactics
Leftover points in spear mastery

Equipment
Spear +30hp
Shield +30hp
NOTE: I am r3 Asura, having +8 en from the title track. If you have lower Asura, I think you will need to have either a +5en spear, or a staff.
I have 600 hp, but I'm sure the run can be done with less

Skills
Go for the Eyes or Dwarven Stability (Use Dwarven Stability before entering the cave then aggro for longer glads duration)
Dodge This
Finish Him
Blazing Finale
Soldiers Defense
Stand Your Ground
Gladiators Defense
Fall Back

Method
Enter Riven Earth, pick up the bounty if you want/need to, then hit fall back and head to the cave (entrance along the right hand side cliff for those who dont know).

At the entrance you will see something like this:

The arrow is the path to take. Essentially, you are aggroing the raptors on the way to the large column in the centre of the cave. You should get the large patrol groups, dont worry if you miss one or two raptors unlinked to mobs. Do not aggro Rekoff Broodmothers group in the bottom right corner of the cave! Her Wild Strike ruins the build! Once you reach the column, keep going along the right hand side of it.

You will then see a large boulder atop a small hill, like this:

Once you reach the boulder, turn right, and as you do so hit Fall Back again (it will have recharged by now) and run straight to the wall. As you reach the wall, hit Blazing finale. The headtart is needed so that they wont do disrupting stab on your Blazing Finale. Then as the raptors come to you, Do Stand Your Ground and Soldiers Defense. Let them all group up on you. This usually occurs as Fall back ends, triggering Blazing Finale. Once they are there, hit Gladiators Defense and start attacking them with your spear.

Hit Dodge This and Go for the Eyes as they charge, which will trigger Blazing Finale, and they should pretty much all be dead by the time Galds ends, a few may survive with extremely low health, but a few spear attacks/another shout to trigger Blazing Finale will kill them. Sometimes, and rather rarely, one may survive with 30% or so health. If this happens, use Finish Him.

Thats the run!

Having just timed the run, from entering Riven earth, to the raptors being killed takes about 1 minute. This doesnt include Loading and Zoning in/out time though.

Keep party items to sell on/use, I believe the Saurian Bones can be traded for party items at Lions Arch

I dont think a Warrior/Paragon can do this, as they cant put points in leadership, so get only 1 second of burning and I dont think that would suffice. With regards to doing this in HM, I think they would run too fast for you to get the headstart to hit Blazing Finale.

Just curious but wouldn't dwarven stability greatly help this build? Because it will pretty much double glads defense duration and prevent the raptors from running away with too few life. I am also assuming you could take off motivation points and 1 command point (8 would be enough for 10 second speed boost) to help boost leadership. As well as taking a tactics shield instead with +45 -2 while in stance.

But besides that it looks very good and I will most likely go cap glads defense and use it in combination with those skills and most likely add dwarven stability so glads defense will be up even longer.

Wish it could be done easy in hardmode with a paragon (already passed rank 8 asura and still have to finish it). As well as all the golds you could get. Just would probably be bad from scatter without proper positioning and added damage.

Maybe this build could work for hm raptor nestlings? (note no real speed boost, but it kills off of aoe burning which I don't think causes scatter)

On second thought, I guess raptor nestlings get critical defenses in hm? If so it probably wouldn't work since you couldn't reliably gain adrenaline.

Good guide. I did a little of this during easter.

Suggestions:

1. Add dwarven stabillit and use it as you enter the cave.
2. Radiation field is handy, use weary stance to cover the cast or just gamble on glads catching the interupts.
3. There's no need to do any special path, they'll hold agro in NM.
4. Once in the cave, it's easier to agro them all if you don't use a speed boost.
5. There's no real need for attacks, you can bring mending r and the command version which escapes my mind atm.

To answer some suggestions and questions.

@MercenaryKnight: Yes the motiv points are optional. only use them if you have a motiv shield. Otherwise use the higher leadership. You can use a +45/-2 but I dont really think you need it, you do fine without it. In terms of crit defences being a problem for any possible HM, I dont think it would, they will be missing a lot due to glads, so it should run out pretty quickly.

Dwarven Stability: Dont even have that skill, never knew it even existed, looking at it now makes looks like it would be very useful. I think with high enough dwarven, you could try the build in HM as you'll have near perma 75% block with glads and soldiers defense. But I think you would need to add in finale of restoration and drop Finish him, as you'd need a few heals for when their attacks hit through in HM.


@King's Spectre
I personally wouldnt take radiation field for 3 reasons:
1 - I think the energy cost is too high, so you'd need higher asura or would definatly need a staff. ATM, after doing what i said in the guide, you finish up (after using glads) with about 3 en.
2 - as mentioned, the risk of interupts.
3 - Things die really quick with the burning etc. Though it could be good for a HM version.

I'm using the speed boost in the cave because if I dont, then as I stop to hit Blazing Finale, they will interupt the cast. So essentially I aggro them, hit the speed boost at the bolder, head to the wall. This gives me enough time to cast Blazing before the raptors catch up and use that disruption skill.

Critical defenses will still be a problem with you gaining adrenaline to trigger the burning. Since they will have a lot more health in hm, you'd need as much burning as possible and finding a nestling without defenses on would most likely be a problem.

Besides that I don't really know what else could help. I guess with balths spirit and the occasional hits getting through it could fuel adrenaline fairly decent, but you'd probably need something extra like pve skill snowstorm to help kill quickly enough in hm.

Otherwise very good guide, paragon need more solo farms.

Valid counter points. I think you'd find that with dwarven you could stand there looking pretty while they die in one go of glads.

Whoops, didnt see that ^^.

Also, I got dwarven Stability and it it very nice. I'll add that in to the guide now.

I'm also in the process of trying to make a HM build. A few problems so far, but I'm getting there.

A HM build would be the nuts! You are weaklings! helps a good bit, but you can get pretty chewed up just getting into the right spot.

Yeah, if I manage to get one sorted, it will be completely different mainly because of glads scattering. Will probably take a while though

You could try the one youtube link type build I showed. Involving burning over time which doesn't cause scatter. With mindbender to help block decently and finale of restoration for healing. However the bad part is they use critical defenses so you won't gain adrenaline quickly to keep burning consistently.

Also for nm you should try testing to see if dwarven stability and glads alone can pretty much almost kill them. I don't know how much they scatter in nm, but it seems like you'd just need glads and maybe light of deldrimor or some aoe attack to weaken them all and then they'd start dropping quickly.

What about adding in finale of restoration? I'm not sure how quickly the raptors go down but this might help stay alive for a while. Id also be inclined to use TNTF! instead of STG! as it provides better damage reduction. Or bladeturn refrain? then take the points out of motivation.

I might try a bar like this:

Dwarven Stability
"Go for the Eyes!"
Soldier's Defense
Gladiator's Defense
"There's Nothing to Fear!"
"They're On Fire!"
Blazine Finale
"Fall Back!"

You can almost keep glads defense constant anyway, im not sure if you need "finish him". You could even sub Fall Back or ToF for Ebon Vanguard Standard of Valor, been using that in the ranger farm and it can prety much double the damage dealt.

Okay so a little update in terms of NM. You can do this x/W now. I'm at r6 dwarf and all you need to kill them is Dwarven stability and glds. Hit dwarven when you enter, aggro, let them group on you and hit galds. Fill the other slots with any stuff you want :P
