Regarding Magma shields
Location Realm of Torment: Gate of Secrets.
You need the quest Holding the line (see link on wiki http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Holding_the_Line ). To make the titans spawn.
I am new in 55 Ne, but I tried it anyways using the skills as used by KCP on page 1. I am having trouble with energy, but I can kill the first two groups in most of the time. I have a few questions though:
- can some1 post the attributes for the NeMo 55 build as shown on page1?

- do I need to be of a certain Lightbringer rank?

- I did some runs of about 2 hours (I'm still learning, I don't think I consider this 2-3 min run though). There was a total of 6 locked chest spawns (4 gold and 2 grapes). I think only 1 is titan related (it was a superior rune.) Four chests spawn before killing second titan group). Whether the other 2 spawned after killing the second group I cannot surely tell because they were located a little further than the torment claws.
My question is, when the chest is located near the torment claw do u guys kill it first and wait for its corpse disappear and then lure the titans near the chest and then open it (thus making it a "titan chest"). Or doesn't this matter?
- do I understand from the above posts that (probably) highest chance of getting a magma shield is from a chest. (With rare exceptions as mentioned above?)

Only the chest that spawns where the titans spawn will drop Titan Items I think.

I was hoping that wouldn't be the case since there are more locked chest spawning on near those torment claws ("spider leg").
Kinda solved the energy problem by tanking the first titans (or other titans).
The good runs still take me a good 8-10 mins, but I kill caster titans on the 2nd and third group. The 4th titan group with the rotting titan always gets me killed when he straps my enchants with lingering curse.

Just did a couple of runs. In two hours, there were 5 locked chests 4 near the torment claw and only 1 where the titans spawn (twas a grape featherbowbow I think). I got 2 gold drops (Anet told us gold drops was exempt!?). From the chest I got 2 gold of which 1 rit elite tome.

I got a couple of magmas shields though, but they were all white

BTW: they are only merch food, aren't they?

I don't like farming but the prospect of something rare such as magmas shield gets my heart pumping faster. I am gonna keep doing this runs till I get my own shield.

How many locked chest spawns (only those at the location where the titans spawn) do u guys get?

i just did about 25 runs and no chest spawned...I was able to get a bunch last night have they changed something recently or just really bad luck?

bad luck I think.
I just finished a few runs (not only chest running but killing the first few titan waves also). In about 1/6 runs there is a "titan chest" spawn. I had 2 golden titan armors and 2 golden weapons (at least 1 spear). Also there were 3 purple weapons (1 purple magmas arm) and 2 or 3 purple titan armors.
No magmas shield as of yet. The way I'm doing it it is quite tedious I think. Once in 3-4 runs I get a golden drop from a monster mostly titan armors. So I'm really only hoping for the shield.

I have been running it a while as well and find it's generally 1/3 runs that spawn a chest after killing the titans up until the rotting titan spawns. I have had all reqs of shields drop inc r9 but found normal mode to have the best so far. Runs take 2-3 mins as mentioned before so it's a great farm especially when you get that one drop 8-D

Here's a short video of run from start to finish, both chests spawned. Only the chest down the path where the titan's spawn point is located drops the magmas shields. You will see it appear in the video when the 1st group is killed.

As stated the run should only take a couple minutes to hit the titan chest. After killing the first 2 titans and no chest spawns just resign and start over.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a shiroken item chest can also spawn during this quest, during the shiroken waves.

Finally I got a magmas shield req12. see pic.

It was from the chest where the titans spawn.
And it took ages in my opinion. I could have easily farmed the gold to buy one myself. But it felt quite good, to be able to farm something rare.

Regarding the "titan chest", it's quit amazing what I got dropped there. Most are golden titan armours, but I also had 2 Elite warrior tomes (on 2 consecutive runs

) and 2 normal dervish runes (also on 2 consecutive runs

)

.

But after 4 days I am still in doubt whether to farm this shield again.

Nice vid, I might try build this out with my necro. With my 55 Monk SS build I can probably go as fast, but I tend to kill everything to get drops (and I got a few golden titan armors). Even the Torment Claws (where a locked may be located) I kill too. I'll try to just run as you did and get as many runs as possible.

Not a bad run. I keep getting zonked by Maelstrom once and a while. When those bastards get going, I get hit with 60+ Maelstroms! Makes it tough to cast spells.

I was wondering if the titans in the defend north kryta quest, or the chests spawning in the area may drop them?

Yes the titans there *can drop a rare magmas shield ( non-inscribable ), no clue on chests in hm, normal mode no.

Better chance to get a rare magmas shield off the titans in nf, unfortunately there isn't hordes of them like DNKP.

Basicly the Colossal Scimitar build;
Protective Spirit, Mystic Regen, SoA, Shielding Hands, SoJ, Zealots Fire, Balt. Spirit & Blessed Aura.

I could kill some of the Titans, but not enough to make it usefull. Maybe some tweaks in the build

Zealot's Fire messes up aggro in NM, so I can't even imagine the aggro breaking in HM..unless I'm wrong, which I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be.

And the 55 CS Farm Build is practically what you mentioned, just remove ZF, and add in Watchful Spirit

How are you guys dealing with the massive Maelstrom spells getting cast against you? I'm having every other odd run being shut down due to the water titan's spamming of this spell.

Found a good way around it. I was using monk primary. So, jacking up curses to 12 lets Spoil Victor do it's magic.

Yeah i also walk out of it after I get the energy. When I run a MoMe SS build I try to place the two titans on the same spot to kill them faster. But I have a relatively high ping and I constantly have to watch the water titan and anticipate on when it casts maelstrom and walk out of it. But when there are 2 the run takes longer and I just watch 1 water titan and kill him asap and use PS and HB more often, and run from maelstrom. You have time to cast your spell just do it after the titans have cast maelstrom.

I did this run for 3 hours yesterday. And I opened about 8 "titan chests" (thats not much) and no shields

Yeah when I run NeMo Spoil victor build I use 12 in blood and take I think I also take vampiric gaze. I mostly need 1 spoil victor and 1 vampiric gaze to kill each titan and its much quicker than the MoNe SS build that I also use. Maybe the reason why only 1 spoil victor isn't enough is because I am casting it too quickly. I am gonna try to wait until they cast something first.
