Like you just said "it`s all in the eye of the beholder", you just didn`t look properly. The shading changes as you rotate, looks kinda cool.
Agreed, Tribal axes are still rare, I only ever got crappy blues for the merchant. But then maybe they do look all pixalated, maybe they are not worth the time and effort to farm.

Anyways to the OP:
This titan farming for a magmas shield looks promising, maybe I`ll give it a whirl this weekend. Thanks.
Sorry to find the ele sword farm didn`t produce results, maybe some other place and time, good try though.

The first 3 waves are titans, I just kill first wave, and the caster in the second group. The last group has a rotting titan, hardly unbeatable with the build in pic, but I have never personally seen a chest spawn when the third group spawns so only kill first 3 casters, leaving the ranger alive if there's a chest spawn, so the rotting titan doesn't spawn, just like the pic where I'm poisoned.

Run takes 2-3 minutes, and goes along these lines.

- run past the forgotten fighting the NF Titans.
- First 2 titans should be on their way, kill them check for chest down below ( it sometimes spawns when first 2 titans appear )
- Keep checking for chest holding your Alt key down and searching while the 2nd group spawns.
- if chest spawned during either of the 2 waves, kill the Ele titan with the ranger, leaving ranger alive, and go open chest.
- resign

It can be annoying, you could go several runs without a chest spawn, some runs it will spawn consecutively, and sometimes the other chest by the tendril is there too.

Any 55 build can do this, I'm sure there's plenty more builds that can easily handle it. However sometimes the NF titans will follow you so you must be able to tank several enemies at once.

Titan " rares" only drop from the spawned chest and not the ones by the tendrils, and yes those spawn alot more frequently then the titan chest.

Just purely running the chest is a waste of time considering most of the time it spawns only after killing the first 2 titans, you may get lucky and get it to spawn during the first wave without killing them, but you're seriously cutting your chances, Also the titans drop inscribable magmas shields and rare armors.

If you dont want to farm them solo and just after the chest,u can bring hench along with you,flag them where the forgotten are,and just let them take care of groups while u wait at a safe distance till chest hopefully spawns.

EDIT:I forgot,margonites spawn before the shiroken do

could you please tell me what type of ele build you used for this farm? my monk and necro aren't this far yet.

The ranger isn't even a problem, I just leave him since it only drops 1x, and the 3 titan spawn from it's death doesn't drop items. Then there's no waiting on the rotting titan to pass. Faster runs but missing 1 possible drop each run, I can take that loss when really all I want is the chest.

Speaking of faster chest runs, die and go thru portal after completing the run, then each time your resign you can just push "x" and "r" and your right back thru the portal everytime. No more running through town, up the stairs, or running out the wrong exit.

If you do screw up and engage the rotting titan and loose, good luck getting back if there was a chest that spawned. Speed is very important since shortly after you run past the forgotten the torments start to patrol through that area, and the Rotting titan will be camped waiting for you with whatever ele titan he spawned with.

^^ trust me I wasted 5 elixirs on a mess up just so I didn't DP out and lose out on the chest.....crapped out a purple after all the effort.

thanks Kcp for the tips. These chests dont spawn a lot right? I have done about 20 runs, dont think any of the 2 chests was titan chest as both of them are Blazing Wing Wand (1 purple, 1 gold).

Question again: if these titan chests spawned, do they drop ONLY titan items?

Updated: just after this post and when I was about to quit due to boredom, a gold req9 dropped from a pain titan for me

AFAIK only tyrian versions of titans drop them, unless hard mode made them obtainable from the NF titans as well.

Alot of people doing this run now

, count 6 or more in district i'm in. Guess I need to get rid of the 2 I found this morning if I want to make any sort of loot off them. Req 10 and 12 ewwww.

You are right. I just check the ss again and the magmas shield dropped from Earth Born Titan.

BTW, I have done numerous runs titan quests in Tyria in HM but never found a magmas shield other than white. Here in Domain of Pain, only few of them were killed and it dropped me that nice shield. Those titan chests dont spawn quite frequently. In about 40 runs, only 4-5 of them spawned and 50% were purple! anti-farm code anyone?

Don't think it works to well, did ~80 runs and the chest has spawned 2 times, and both times the items were grapes...Maybe I just have really bad luck.

Got 2 in 3 runs a little bit before my previous post in this thread.

Not to mention suxipo got r9 off one of the titans.

Patience is a virtue, if you lack it, there's no point in you even trying this run. The ability to follow directions helps too

As with all chest running, and solo builds results may vary.

heh yeah thats why its good to have a good 4 or 5 farming spots going at a time. one spot not working out, try the other
