Default Necro or Monk for farming?

I was just wondering which one would be more useful in general for farming. Ie. More farms, more effective etc. Thanks

Both have their strengths. And both share the same weaknesses (if you are playing as 55 versions), massive health degen and enchant removal. Both can pretty much farm the same areas, but with the necro able to farm more bosses. It really comes down to your personnal choice of play style. 55 SV necro, 55 SS necro, 55 monk, 600 monk. Make both, it helps to make farming runs less boring with multiple forms to farm. You could also try using an ele. They work great also.

Default Monk or Necro

I can use both to farm but I prefer using a monk to farm and most of the time that is using a variant of the dual smite build.

I have both a necro and a monk, and I find that I use both about the same.

I have only a monk, no nec becuase i dont have the slots for it.

True that a monk hardly can farm bosses etc, but i have an ele and he can do the boss farms for me

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/A_Solo_Green_Farmer

Monks can go 600/smite 55/ss 105/ss solo 55, solo 105, solo 600 etc..

One of them should work for what you want to do i think..

Dae

BTW : Monks are more fun at general playing too

hehe,i would say that necros are easier to play....and i would rather be a necro than a monk when i do uw dual runes with my guildies(55 monk and necro ss)...it is easier to screw up when you are a monk -_-

Necros can 600, solo 55, solo 105, 55/ss (The SS part anyways) as well

Not always...Nothing (to me) is really more enjoyable than (after a good pull/corner agro) throwing an SS or two into a group and watching them explode with numbers. Also, necros can heal(or support heal with damage (N/Rt with Wail/IV/WepofRem ftw!)) as well.

But, this is off topic.

As far as farming goes, and you only have room for one of the two, my vote is evenly split. Monks do have advantage of getting into groups easier, however, and you can do things like Ursan with out having to get a good Norn rank or needing Cons.

N/Mo's simply do a subset of what Mo/N's do, but a bit better. But if you go Mo/ you can bring other professions for utility in certain areas, and great justice (allowing them to be a bit more flexible).

Basically do N/Mo if you like finding one mindless farm, and really just grinding away there. If you like seeing how far you can go with your character, solo, then definitely do Monk.

As far as gold / hour, I doubt there will be a huge difference.

True, but they don't have the sup monk runes, so they can't tank as good as the monks can

When a 55 goes 55/ss it's enjoyable too see al the -3 energy ( visages ) too...

True

I think, when you list up all the positive and negative things of both professions the monk will win.

With [Protective Spirit] and (New) [Spirit Bond], anyone can tank easily. The sup runes don't make a huge difference. While Divine favor can be an advantage in degen areas, Soul reaping can be useful in areas with little energy gain (slow attacking ftl), and I'd prefer 20 more damage out of [Spoil Victor] per attack, then an extra two seconds on [Protective Spirit] in many areas.

As far as farming goes, I'm still split. But in overall play, I still agree.

While both monk and necro pretty much run the same builds for farming and end up farming the same areas (sometimes even together, as with 55/SS) I'd say the monk is a lot easier to run from a defensive standpoint, and, because of the freedom of secondary allows it some variety as to how it can run certain builds.
Although necro has a lot better offensive capabilities, especially for soloing mobs (SS is unmatched by SoJ) and bosses (SV anyone?).
Again, monk primaries can run these skills too, but necros have the additional 4 spec into curses, making the damage far superior.

to sum it up:
monk for beginning farmers and slightly more varied farming repertoire.
necro for higher damage, higher speed, higher risk farming.

I did not factor anything but farming into my thought here, but both professions will have very little trouble finding groups or playing through the game normally.
