Anyone notice a huge difference in drop rate all usudden? Did 4 runs earlier, 2 runs with 2 ectos each then 2 full chaos plaines clears with not one ecto drop. Just wondering if it's the weekend maybe, overall drop rates or just my bad luck.

Exclamation The Run..

So, overall i think this is a great build, and i have to say it works and it works great..
I spent around 40k getting all the equipment, needed a Elite tome and all, ive been able to solo the labyrinth and the Ice Wastes but when i come running to the Chaos plains i dont make it , i dont mean i die trying to get there, what i mean is i survive until the very end (that is if i get hit by traps) and the patrol will be camping at the chaos plains. I read residents idea and am about to try it now, and speed? i dont understand how u can run there when u haveto recast Sfa every 15 seconds, though the build is great
If you can like i dunno lol give me some tips or sumin to help me get there will help loads.
Lost 80k so far T_T

Thx Donut, i got to the chaos plains for the first time not casting stone saved alot of time

You don't have to recast Stoneflesh. All you have to do is dodge the few random behemoth attacks. FDH isn't necessary for the run, but it makes it quicker.

been having some fun with this build lately, thanks a lot! just wondering, what aggro routes people have been using in the chaos planes to pull larger mobs?

Those are my usual aggro paths. if something is X.5, that means I aggro the BDR while killing waves of mindblades from BDR #X. The BDR in the top right which I didn't number sometimes gets aggroed with #1, but if it's far away/I don't feel like walking to it under OF, then I just leave it. With these aggros, and killing the first 8 terrorwebs in Spawning Pools, I have a 35 minute run on average.
EDIT: sorry for the tiny fonts, paint=fail

i don't think i've ever cleard the planes and gotten less than 3 ectos. of course the most i've ever gotten is 8. don't know what kind of luck others have to be getting 11. must be nice.

So far im succeeding in every 1 in 10 runs lol
I cant get past the labyrinth, imo labyrinth hardest part
Run in , nights rend everything gets me, and if some run back 1 aatxe comes and i get hit once before i hide behind benton, surviving at about 12hp the night finishes me off.
That or bodyblocks on the way to the ice wastes colds, the run to chaos is no problem, if only i could kill the grasps =S, frustrated and pissed when its so easy..

Cleared Chaos once, tho thought id get sumin like 6 ectos cuase of my first time, instead i got 1 >>

Noticing my average drop is lower too, went from like 5 minimum to now 1-2. Mayb its cuz i only use this char to farm this one spot.

Yeah the rates have seemed extremly low. 2 days ago I was getting 6-8. Maybe Anet pulled out the nerf bat behind the scenes since they do love to do that.

I think it may be possible. I cleared bone pits and chaos plains, only 2 ecto (WTF!!!!!) they prolly took a big swing at those spectres and knocked all the ecto out of em like a pinata.

Yeah it seems like it, just waiting to see how many others are getting reduced rates.

Haven't run it this weekend (double AB faction ).

I usually do the spawning pools cause im cheap and have spent the 1k to get there . The best ecto rates are from mindblades (I had 6 drop in one run last week) and the fastest farm if your good at running to the plains is probably mindblades and the first group of terrorwebs alone. However if your crazy like me and like the adrenaline from killing that annoying blackness that just hangs around until your ward is nearly gone and sliver is finished then runs in with shock and whirlwind while your at low health then the pools is for you. Ecto is very variable but I think the best I have gotten is 3 and normally 1-2 for a complete clear. Complete clear takes 20-30 mins depending on blackness.

Even as cheap as I am I have given up on the bone pits. Easy but slow and crappy ecto rate.

If your having troubles in the Labrynth use HERO's..gee the 20th time people have mentioned this. Atm I am using a monk (WoH and Prot spirit), ele (Star Burst or searing flames) and Ebon Dust Aura derv which seems to work out well. Just keep prot spirit on the EDA Derv and call aataxes if they come down so she attacks it...also stop BEFORE the hero's so you get the rend if a DN pops up and drags his friendly aataxe with him. Then enjoy the Prot spirit micro fun. Also wand the DN to death as if it rends EDA your all dead. Not as fast as a healer and 2 ele's but safer unless Melloni gets stuck behind an npc =/.

I also think that it may be possible that the drop rates got nerfed a little bit. I used to get 4-6 ectos per chaos planes run, but lately I've been getting 2-3 although it might just be variable since I got a nice 5 ecto run today.

i think you guys may just be overfarming the area or trying too many times consecutively. i had my best run yet on saturday. 9 ectos. i was pretty pleased. however, my worst run came sunday. full chaos clear only 1 ecto. i read something somewhere about drop rates decreasing when you enter and exit a zone repeatedly in a certain time frame. it just so happens that my run on saturday was my first attempt that day. and my run sunday was my 5th attempt-1 stupid time i didn't use any speed boost in chamber, 1 time i stupidly targeted a bladed somehow and cast meteor shower on him, 1 bad behemoth spawn at entrance to mountains and one bad behemoth spawn at entrance to planes. i mean i have no other evidence to prove this, but it makes me comfortable to believe this, so i will.

Yea, it is probably the fabled "anti-farm code". I suggest go do something like a mission/quest for a while with the ele then come back.

Yeah it's the dreaded "coooooode". I know a secret combination of emotes that make the cooooode go away. Seriously...
