the nerf kinda ruins the art of farming, but it still used to farm. It just that I can't farm certain bosses that I used to easily farm (mostly dervishes).

Oh and ArenaNet have plans to make sure it is impossible to maintain Shadow Form (developer updates), meaning with the 50% damage penalty + unable to maintain, it would be impossible to use it to farm the UW as well as being impossible to farm bosses for greens and elite tomes (unless, of course, if they remove the 50% dmg penalty).

SF farming ecto in UW is still efficient. We can't allow efficiency. MUST NERF! *face palm*

The nerf only slowed farms down. I still sliver the raptors and snowmen. Snowmen when taking the monk tomes in account yield about 15- 20k an hour. I farm noobs for ectos. Dagger farms are worthless though.

I still cant believe people are whining about the SF nerf. Yes, you can only deal -50% damage through direct damage, but you are basicly invincible for an unlimited time! (besides PBAoE and signets ofc)
I think the advantages here > disadvantages...

However, I think its a shame anet got non-core skills into UW (such as [signet of disenchantment] ). I really do . It was the last place in the game where you could get kicks of nostalgia :P

Imo you can hardly call farming with SF an art...It's not like it's hard or challenging and every brainless dude can do it, just pushing the same few buttons over and over, just like UB (or you also call using UB an art?)

The only REAL art of farming I remember is doing UW (and than I mean also the aatxes and terrors) with my warrior, it was truly something you could call an art since it was hard, fun, very challenging and required skil.

I agree with this post 110%. when warrior UW farming turned into VwK farming, i pretty much stopped farming altogether.

My Assassin is built for PvE, but I also love to farm, my Assassin was my main for a while until I realize the Community sucks and they won't team up with an Assassin for HM unless I ran Ursan, and even then I found people saying Ursan/Sin suck if you take a Assassin I am leaving with my Cons.........so I made my monk Main.........I PvP with my sin from time to time and still PvE, but I have done every thing in NM with my Assassin...........the SF nerf sucks for me because my Assassin paid for my Monk FOW by farming elite tomes and Raptors last year............I was farming raptors before 99% of the people who do it today.

Simply I have 8 characters can't play with them all, it would be a pain in the rear to mindless repeat and get titles for all, so I chose my monk to get titles.... my monk gets all the good stuff....rare weapons, armors, mini pets, every thing goes to my monk, this is why my MONK is my "MAIN"....................

why farming has to require skill, the purpose of farming to get loot and kill foes easily at the same time.

For me, something requiring skill is more fun. Farming is boring at best, and generally not challenging. Take out all of the challenge and farming is just silly (some would say that farming is silly no matter what). For practical reasons, the easier farming is, the more people can farm, the less value items will have. Take a look at Ele swords, Dead Swords, Chaos weapons........

Finding new farms was always fun with sf, now everything is garbage. Hurry up D3 and starcraft 2.

Have u ever tought about that the softwarehouses of WOW, AoC, WAR, D3, SC2 and so on have PAID gw devs to make late GW... crappy?

SF nerf was absolutely the most stupid change i've ever seen...
U CRAPPY DEVS (from now UCD) buffed SF... it "destroyed" the economy... the LOGIC (that's what u miss) would suggest to CANCEL the buff...
BUT NO!
UCD decided to apply a strange nerf... killing the sin based farming...
Have u ever noticed that the only unnerfed farmer is the monk based farmer?
WANNA KNOW WHY?
'Coz CD (crappy devs) uses monks to farm...

Just a sad joke... but... who knows?...
Real Life Pownz Fantasy Sometimes...

Just a thought: why is that people whine so much about SF? why people whine about the fact it has been nerfed?

IMO, enough whining about this, and I think the following modification (in regard to loot-scaling) would be nice: the chance/probability of a item drop would increase in the same proportion of the number of players in the team and, besides all this, URSAN should be completely nerfed till the point at which it would be completely useless. Also, some mobs should have their bars changed in some pve areas.

This would have many benefits:

1. People would form 8 man teams again to farm large pve areas, and this would promote team play.
2. The interaction of several professions would be again crucial for the team success.
3. There would be place for a new begging in GW.

... etc, etc.

well.... with this I don't want some professions to be excluded from pve (like it has been refered in this forum that ursan nerfage would mean the elimination of some classes in pve, like the old times in DoA where only Ele, necro, warrior and monks would play, etc) on the contrary! If some more balanced mobs would been added to some pve areas, all the professions would be able to integrate into a team and there would be many team variations.

ok...i think i have all said
Peace

EDITED by Marty Silverblade: I fixed up your sentences a bit. It was pretty good so there was just some minor rephrasing. PS: Still don't understand how new begging is a good thing.

I have a assassin that I play all the time when I get tired of my main. It was by far the easiest class I found to do anything in PvE even before they buffed SF. If you are just looking to make a sin to be a farmer though the nerf did greatly reduce your options. ToPK is so slow now it's not worth it. Raptors kite from the degen before it kills them and 50% less damage from a sliver build is just tedious imo. Spider runs FoW are just out of the question now.

I still love my assassin, but the farming task goes back to my ele which can farm UW, Raptors, 55'ing, terra tanking, or just about any other profitable farm without needing SF.

Side note edit:

The whole concept of farming is chaining skills together in a way as to counter an environment and make one person invulnerable to the damage delt by many enemies at once. EVERY farming build is pushing the same buttons over and over as needed.

Ursan is not a farming build so it's not valid to this thread. And if you think SF farming in someplace like UW or ToPK was brainless, you obviously never tried it. It requires precise timing, insane energy management, and knowing what enemies are going to do and when...much like W/ farming
