Default Pre-Searing Dye Farming?

I saw a couple of people saying that in Pre-Searing, dye drops are very good. So I went to make a pre character, and sure enough, I saw about 3-4 in full dyed black armor. I never knew this! I guess it's probably because I never stay past level 3 in Pre.

Does the Dye drop enough that you could actually farm it? Obviously it won't be that hard to farm, all the monsters like level.... 2ish!

So my questions:
Can you farm it to a point where you're making a good profit?
How often does White/Black dye drop?
What monsters drop dye the most? (black and white would be best )

Thanks in advance!

Well, you're always going to make a good profit since there's no real money sink in Pre, and you'll be sure to get tons of dyes if you're patient enough. I didn't really care so I just left at like level 6.

So far all of the people I've encounted that HAVE had all black dyed armor in pre were AFK. Besides, what's wrong with asking my fellow Guru members?

I plan on bringging all the dye I get in Pre to Post, and then sell them. And you said I'll get dyes if I'm patient, I know that, but what do I have to kill in order to get the dyes?

With that, I have no clue. I always thought the drops for dye were random, despite the mob. You can sell the non white/black ones in pre for pretty much the same price.

Here is some advice, i had a perme pre char but got bored so i deleted it i had fully dyed black armor and i bought it, usually people trade pre and post money to get rich in pre.....and i think the drops of black dyes and others are up in pre but i'm not entirely sure. I did get three drops of black when i was in pre and havn't had a drop in post.

Uhm, the quest bandit Raid is a quest where most people used to farm dyes when they did... search it up on wiki where to get that quest, you should be able to solo it quite well at level 7-8 I think :P

[Ow edit: own age myname's link is telling that quest too, sorry.]

But remember, it is mostly based on luck than it is on so called 'drop tables'.
I actually encounter more dyes post searing than I have in pre (and I'm doing LdoA), most on my assassin specifically.

Nearly anything has a chance to drop dye. Kill lots of stuff quickly, and you'll get dyes. People see lots of dyes in Pre-Searing because the party limit is 2, and you are solo most of the time, so presumably loot scaling has less, if any effect. You also see all the drops if you are solo. Farming in post is faster in my opinion, because you have more options for skills and equipment, many more areas to explore, and you can always farm the gold faster to just buy the dyes outright.

I really don't think it's worth staying in pre if farming dye is your only reason, but to each their own. If you are staying in pre for other reasons, then you may as well farm dye.

The Glacial Blade is the best sword in pre.

Well there you have it. I am a Permapre with 4 toons there that I play. My war is lvl 17 and I have a 11 and a 10 and a 4 that I am currently leveling.

Yes you can get black dye in pre more easily than one would think. Why? Cause you can only carry 100K

There is a sword 12-16 dmg with +14% while health is ^50 with Sundering 20/18 and Charrslaying 18% that will cost you 35 Black Dye. Someone was selling it here on the guru in the high end as a matter of a fact. This is the best sword in pre bar none.

My sword is damage 11-15 with 14% more damage while enchanted Sundering 20/18 Charr slaying 17% and cost me 120K or 18 Black Dye.

So the Black Dye that drops in Pre generally stays in pre. You will find some people for the sake of Vanity that put the black Dye on their armor. What a waist of 32.5K IMHO.

If you are a perma farmer in pre then you will need to convert your wealth to black dye. The most I have had on me was 13 at one time.

To answer your questions:
1) Yes you canfarm a GREAT Profit. I do it with Hunter's ale not dye. I trade for gold and then buy dyes.
2) How often? In 8 months I got 3 blacks across 4 toons at different lvl's
3) As for Monsters. All of them have a greater chance to drop dyes as there are limited things that they drop. I have NEVER gotten a dye by killing a charr.
