Grawl necklaces: farm the level 3/4 grawl in Eastern Frontier, outside the Ruins of Surmia outpost. There are about 40 to be killed in 4 mins just by sneezing at them, any profession.
People think that because that's what it says in the first post of that thread. It was supposed to prove that there is no difference based on rate of kill, but they didn't exactly choose the best skills to do that, since SoJ doesn't usually kill masses of enemies all at once.

Never thought about abusing the charr invaders quest inorder to gain a lot amount of charr carvings. Seems like a really good idea actually. I will have to make sure to keep that quest active for my a/e farmer.

Also, the one nolani academy mission I have seen farmed in hm (the first group of warriors) by 55 type builds by just opening the front gate and killing all the wars. Could most likely be done with any shadow form farmer as well.

runs are less than 1.5 min.

Any suggestions on areas with a high rate of return on items that can be traded for transmog tonics? I've been farming Sentient Roots along the south side of Fahranur, from Blacktide Den to the boss group, but the drop rate for roots doesn't seem all that great (perhaps a dozen or so per hour, with a run taking about 10 minutes). I'm farming with an ele, so I'd prefer to avoid Mandragor Imps and their Chillblains. Is there a better place for root farming, or would I do better going after Fledgling Skree Wings?

Don't they drop superb carvings instead of the regular charr carvings?

Not the low level ones, of which there are plenty in that quest.

I don't have the template code on me, but it's the following:
Shield of Absorption
Shielding Hands
Protective Spirit
Shield of Judgment
Mystic Regeneration
Blessed Aura
Balthazar's Spirit
Purge Conditions

Purge Conditions isn't necessary, but it comes in handy. Note that this is a 55 monk build.

Can farm singed Gargoyle skulls and a couple stormy eyes outside of nolani academy, pretty much anything can do it crap loads of gargoyles out there.

Back on topic:

It's already been mentioned about the gates of Kryta farm for decayed orr emblems so.... how about farming charr carvings! I'd either do that at the end of the Great Northern Wall, you know where you're supposed to run away from the charr, just turn around and there's a nice spot you can stop and they can't get by you. Or just do Nolani, crank open that gate and wipe out the charr that charge in at you.
I have read the thread you linked several times and have found it to suggest interesting possibilities but I will stick to my own data that shows, after more than 5000 farm runs through Gates of Kryta, an approximately 25% greater yield from individual kills (sliver armor in my case) than mob aoe kills (various ele aoe spells).

Otherwise farming outside Nolani for some grawl. Singed Grawl skulls for the Wintersday event, trade 2 for spiked eggnog. Also real easy.
.
I second this

Ornate Grawl Necklaces: Takes like 2-3 mins per run and an average of 7 necklaces.

Singed Grawl Skulls: 1-2 mins per run as well. Usually I just take my 55 monk (YAY!) and run up the stairs, gather all of them and kill. Average about 5 skulls per run.

I tried out some of those build, mostly at Gates of Kryta and outside of Bergen Hot Springs.
But I was trying to find a place where I could find many White Mantles, Riverside Province Mission was the best choice.. and a run with a tweaked Warrior VwK build takes about 30 min. and got around 25 White Mantle Emblems .. and you only need 1 White Mantle Emblem to trade, I wouldn't wanna say it's better or that you get more profit than Gates/Bergen or Grawl outside Surmia.. but it works, and its something new.

I farm necklaces.
Critical Scythe kills the grawl in one or two hits. Two minutes per run, 5~15 necklaces depending on drops.
Got 6 stacks so far in around a month of farming an hour a day or so.

I farm skulls and sentient roots with my ele. For skulls I like to use spells like liquid flame and fireball because it's pretty easy to ball the gargoyles up. Might wanna bring along something like healing breeze to cut down on the degen. But I go a little farther than most people when I farm skulls. I go well past that huge group at the top of the stairs. Run takes anywhere from 10-12 min and nets around 10-20 skulls per run. Make sure you bring a speed buff or 2. Here's the map:

For sentient roots I just use Flare and Flame Djinn's Haste for damage. I found that when I kill the level 1 plants they seem to drop sentient roots. When I kill the level 6 plants they drop sentient seeds. So I do a little run outside Kamadan that takes approximately 2-3 minutes (remember speed buffs!). You can expect anywhere from 4-10 sentient roots. Here's the map:

Wow, that's vastly better than my return on farming Fahranur. Outside Kamadan I was just running out and hitting the plant group directly west, in the middle of your route, which was no better. I'll try it your way. Thanks!

I have been having great luck farming termites and drakes in Plains of Jarin just outside Champion's Dawn. (2 drakes and about 10 termites in one spot.) A run takes 2-3 minutes and I get about 50 legs and 7-8 drake flesh per hour, plus the occasional sentient root from Shockwaving the plant group between the portal and the lake. Drake chunks trade 1-1 for transmog tonics, so this rate isn't as bad as it looks. Plus, dye has been dropping like rain for me on this run -- 2 black, 2 white, 2 silver, and an assortment of other colors over 5 hours of farming. Wand followed by Stone Daggers on the termites, since they can't be balled up and nuked, and Shockwave instakills the drakes.

IF that's true, then the question is.. is the aoe kill methiod 25% faster (and thus more cost effective) then the individual method or not.

Really, this could EASILY be tested. All we need is to repeat the SoJ/SV test with two builds that kill at different rates (say... a perma silver farming vaetarr's and a keg bomber). That would end this debate right now. Of course, this would be a lot easier with two people who have computers side by side in order to make sure the sync works. Any volunteers, the guy who did the original test quit GW?

Take Smite Condition instead of Purge for an insane amount of extra damage
