Default Identify white item before salvage or not?

Hi all.

I am doing a farm (guess which) where i do not get near a merchant. So i salvage whatever i get besides golds.
Everyone knows that identifying an item increases its values when sold to the merchant. My question is however if identifying an item increases whatever is salvaged. Example does an identified white item give more wood planks than an unidentified white item.

Thx

i doubt they do, you could try to figure it out by salvaging unid and then salvaging an ided one and if the difference is significant then yes.

No,but ID any thing that isnt white, blues and purples have a really good chance of getting highly salvagable mod(blues seem to get it more then any thing else).

But on whites it makes no difference.

I seem to reading something on this, might've been a guild guide or something, but it actually does benefit to ID things.

IDing whites increases the sell value of the item; and, as long as it is a normal area (that means max weps, or near that - not the cheap Ascalon stuff) it'll gain more value than the cost of the ID kit.

But don't take my word for it, ID kits are 4-5 gold per ID, then check the value of your white items before/after ID. You'll find increases of 20-40g+, much worth the time to ID things.

(An ID is 4/item with a normal ID kit, but 5/item with a Superior - if you want to ID everything, start buying the normal ID kits more so.)

EDIT: Oh, salvaging - no, don't think IDing makes a difference.

I am 95% sure identifying does not increase salvage, unless you id and get a salvage mod lol.

On the note of Identifying for merchanting, I have found that some things increase in value by 3-5g while others it hops 10-40g, it is kind of weird.

id before merchant benefits though you won't see much of a difference unless you're getting the drop from normal level areas (eg newb island whites don't id for much)
id before salvage just wastes an id

For my experience it doesn't matter wether you ID or not before salvaging. The salvage properties are determined upon dropping, regardless of ID'ing or not, at least that's my experience

As for ID'ing items for merchant sales;

Items with a higher unidentified value have a better chance that the increase will be a larger percentage.

Don't you make more profit by just selling? Anyway if you ID it, im pretty sure its useless....Also what ticks me off is that sometimes the Highly Salvageable mod comes on a purple...and it's like a friggen inscription wont lemme use Expert Salvage Kit on it directly. WTF!!

If all your doing is salvaging to save space, don't even take an ID kit, then you'll have one extra invent slot, if you think that getting a whole extra iron ingot from a crappy sword is a significant boon, then go ahead.

I don't think that it makes any difference in the amounts that you would get from a salvage before or after IDing a white drop. When ever I go to Hot Bot Springs, I continue into the Cursed Lands. I usually run out of inventory space clearing this area, so I start the IDing process of those that I guess would possible be worth more than the others and then start salvaging from there(it's pure guessing). Usually netting me a stack of bones or dust.

Don`t id them. You will get the same amount of resources.

I'd say id'ing white items DOES increase the number of resources by a few units.

I'm not sure about white items (weapons, staffs, etc), but ID'ing before salvaging armours does increase the amount.
