Personally, nightmares are a killer in my case now. Those near the aataxes to be precise. I used to run around with storm djinns haste to reveal nightmares and kill them before accepting the quest Clear the chamber. However, now they often rend my speed boost so aataxes dont lose aggro. Also I hate when nightmare rends storm djinns while I am runnig past an aataxe to the smites, sometimes it just happens in a wrong time.
I can do it but it really isnt so fast and I must be more careful.

Oh and I hate the nerf to sandstorm, now I have to finish the smites after the SS-EQ-AS combo with my staff or another EQ-AS.

Yes, I had 5 spawn yesterday pulling them out b4 I took the quest. I dont remember reading about this in the update list (adding more DNM to UW). I thought these updates were to only balance PVP.

For those having problems killing grasps, take 3 heroes with you to help kill them, after that just flag them and proceed to the smites
For the nightmares, take a hero monk with spellbraker and cast it on yourself and run

I haven't noticed that more NM's than usual have spawned (only been on yesterday, will try tomorrow) but 1 thing you can do is just use storm djinn, w8 till it's almost recharged, run and when a NM pops up and he rends you, you can immediatly use storm djinn again.

The graspings still noobs. You cast SV or AV after they've used distracting blow. Immediatly cast SS -> EQ -> AS. Cast Stoneflesh Aura again, Wait for the 2 or 3 come back, than cast SV or AV again after distractings. You need to use EQ and AS to kill them now. That's all.

I do solo UW with my ranger and I can assurce you that the nightmares spawns on my run today were 4-5 as usual. Maybe just the spawn locations got changed?

Before this update I would only pull 3 DNM's at most before I took the quest. It is possible that I was lucky all those times & no more than 3 ever spawned, or like you said, they moved the spawn points around & more are aggroed now. I just blamed the update because I have never aggroed more than 3 DNM's before I took the quest.

On the last run I made earlier today... 5 nightmares popped in the first chamber. It's always been 1-3 tops. Mmmmm

I've seen 5 before now (although that's with going up both sets of stairs, killing Aatxes with my nec)

I find that the more you get in the first chamber, the less likely you are to get "random" spawns in the smite chamber

I seem to have a problem killing smites in one combo, they r either very clse to death or they run. I got 14 on earth (includes runes), is that good enough?

Also excluding runes how much pts do i need to put into energy and illusion with this update into effect?

Im guessing it should be alright if I use sup runes on earth, energy, and air, therefore I can max out earth and put more to illusion. I just wanna know some opinions about ur attibutes with this update in effect.

1. 16 earth is needed (like I said on frontpage)(no wonder why you can't kill smites in 1 combo...)
2. If you still aren't sure you can kill them in 1 combo, block them in corner so they can't run.
3. 9 illusion 8 insp 6 energy (minor rune) rest in air.

really, this isn't too hard to come up with...

I guess a lot of people are put off by those numbers, but fail to remember that Smites only drop ecto 2% of the time. Aatxe's have an Ecto drop rate of 4% conversely. By not killing a single Aatxe, the chances of a successful ecto run go down. That's why 55/SS and Trap Teams seem to get more drops. Even though it's only a 2% better chance than Smites, you still get at least 11 to 12 more chances for an ecto drop to occur if you only do Chamber to Ice Wastes. Even better if you decide to kill other Aatxe in other areas.

Well, if that percentage is true then considering there's about 40 (maybe more) smites each run:

40*20 runs= 800 smites
800*2%=16 ectos, not 7!!!!

My 20 runs tell me:
800*x=7 <=> x=0,875%

There 0,875% chance of a smite dropping an ecto!
It's a ridiculous percentage...
