A friend told me about this build earlier this evening, its pretty much the same as the termite build a lot of eles use, i got the UW run down to 9.30 from loading screen to last dead smite, that wasnt from aggroing all the graspings at the start like that vid you posted, usually do em in 2 lures.

The drops were pretty good for me aswel, did about 2hrs in there and got 17ecto, as soon as flagging kicks in itll be down to 1 a run again.

been trying this but the interupts and accidental aggro is killing me (broke now lol 500g) suppose I'll have to farm elsewhere and try again.

Yea it started as a pain, but now I'm more successful then unsuccessful.

Even though it isn't a lifesaver skill, I found setting the enchants up (MoE, StoneStriker, Dijinn, Stoneflesh -- Listed longest lasting to shortest duration), run straight into aggro getting the "tip" of it, turning around, running into the middle (or more if needed) and doing AV in the middle with the aggro seems to work better.
Maybe just mentally I feel safer doing it (Graspings are fast SOBs so yea it does get interrupted at times) ..

wait 4-5 seconds AFTER the last one gets there to do Sandstorm / Stomp (or Earthquake) / Aftershock

1-3 will stay with you (Depending on mob(s) size) and die, others run. That's the time to put up stoneflesh and stonestriker again. Maybe even AV if it recharged fast.

Then do Aftershock or Sandstorm / Aftershock.
--- Few times 1 or 2 were left and they were gaining energy because I didnt have AV on, I'd just wand em dead lol

Then do the run to the smites.

Heck.
Thursday: 0 drops
Friday: 10 drops (Give or take 20-25 successful runs .. we won't discuss unsuccessful runs :P) --- All but one run was 1 drop. One run produced 2.

can i just use stone flesh aura and physical resistance instead of stonestriker and mantra of earth? because stonestriker is at the end of nightfall unless i read something wrong..

That would probably work, and you would have an extra skill slot for maybe Earth Attunement.

i thought only certain skills can be bought from kamadan, not all skills.. well if thats the case ill go unlock them right now since i got 14k factions

Mantra of earth is more here for the energy management than for the damage reduction. With stoneflesh up, you will still take 0 dmg from smites and from graspings. Yes, it will also reduce damage but that's not why it's in here. (finally tripping my farming code, after a 1.5 week of intensive farming and gettin 1-4 ecto's each run, i'm now happy IF I get ecto... Well at least i've got a nice stack of these things now

My thanks to Koning for his great advice to Uw newbie. This is working flawlessly now. I had to spent about 15k to learn the run, but now I can make it pretty much consistently. When I do mess up, its because of some oddly stuck grasping or the coldfires. It seems that there are some smites I cant get to, because of these annoying eles. Is it possible to kill at least one or two at a time? Oh and my run isnt done in 20 minutes obviously.

As for the drops, I am having bad luck. Still waiting for my first ecto to drop. That is after about 20 sucessful runs. So yeah, I still have to earn the money spent in learning. Best drop so far was Phantom key. I didnt have a chance to use it yet, cause Coldfires attacked me while I was killing the smites near a chest.

If you learn the patrol patterns of the Coldfires, you should be able to kill every single smite in the Ice Wastes without aggroing Coldfires.

The hardest group to get to would either be the group next to the statue, or the group up the hill beside that. For the first, lure them from the hill with a longbow, and run back down to the safe spot to kill. For the second, just dodge coldfires, aggro them to the safe spot in the middle of the hill, and kill.

Well the build is perfect

. Takes some adjusting to agro the grasps but then you can do them very quickly

. I already had a 4 ecto run too. Still doesn't beat my 5 ecto's on a solo necro run but still good

I made a nice movie of a 12 Min run for all of you to enjoy. Mind you that I know the patrols well, that's why I could pull off most of the agro's

oh and since the stoneflesh aura going to get nerfed 100% next week. will the build still works???? im very very curious... cuz i dont want to use this if it gets nerf 1 week later.. d:P

If you do this enough times it almost becomes TOO easy....

A Guildmate described it as:

"Grasps, Leeroy, Smites, Rinse and Repeat" which pretty much sums it up LOL.

For those of you still having trouble playing the build, just keep trying, you will learn it eventually.

My biggest tips are:

1) Don't Panic, whatever happens.
2) Wait around 3-4 seconds from agroing the Grasps to casting Sandstorm.
3) After they break away from you, watch the grasps carefully for them to use up their interupts when they come back (You can see the tentacle flash gold)
4) Don't panic if you don't kill the Smite group in one hit. Just recast your enchants and wait for SV/AV to recharge before trying the sequence again.
5) Learn the Coldfires patrol routes. They are always the same.

The right weapons help a lot. A Totem Axe with its +5 energy and +20% enchantments is pretty much perfect.

There is a great collector's Earth scroll available in Kourna for 5 Kournan Pendants. Take a few minutes out to farm those pendants and get the scroll!

or if you are lazy and a non pvp'er like me, unlock it with a hero skill point in torment (provided you have a char that far) and then buy it.

I had tons of problems with this at first...then i just got used to it and now it's cake. Once you kill the Graspings then the rest is a gimme. The only time I run into trouble now is when I talk to the ghost and a nightmare spawns and the aataxes attack...I get around that now by cast sdh then talk to the ghost...if the aataxes attack i just run and break aggro. btw i still do it in 2 groups in the chamber...the one group thing rarely works for me =(.
