Cool New 55'er Needs Help

Hey all, I am fairly new to 55'ing (couple weeks or so). I created a monk, got him to level 20, grabbed a build off the net, and scoped out a location that nets me a good 3-4k an hour not counting sales. I have read a few 55 threads and am fairly happy with what i have going, I do however have a few questions.

1. I noticed that when i go from say the English Active District to the International Active District, my drops seem to suffer. Do drop rates matter as far as how many ppl are on a server or am i seeing a fluke?

2. I have heard in some of my readings on Loot Scaling that going and doing something else for a while will affect your drop rate in a positive manner. I believe I have seen this in Gold Item drops and the like. How long before this becomes necessary? How long should I go and do "something else" before returning to farming?

3. There are some locations (East of Champions Dawn) where large mobs will scatter for a brief interval of time from SoJ or similar skills, but in other places it works like a charm. From what I understand, at first there was an update that caused scatter from AoE damage so SoJ became preferable. Has there been additional updates that cause scatter for skills like SoJ too? If so why only in some areas? Has my farming spot just been one that has not been "nerfed" yet so to speak?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

personally id have a good search within the forum for the answers as they have already been covered in numerous posts - drop ratios/loot scaling and so on and it will give a better idea of things than a load of posts saying same as me lol

1. the district you leave from doesnt matter

2. loot scaling just means the foes drop less loot when there is less ppl around, i dont think the anti farming code is around anymore

3. best way to figure this out is to go kill some groups and if they scatter then you know. Also, sometimes the scatter is from zealots fire not SoJ (if you have it equiped)

Spiritz- Most of my searches were unfruitful as per question 3. Most posts that i search for dealing with scatter from damage just pull up posts about the AoE scatter update and Zealot's Fire. thus the thread

Boarderx- I do not have ZF equipped and that is what is confusing to me. Some mobs, like the one mentioned, will act differently than others. This is my true question behind this thread. I will attract say, a group of scale and bladed termites. (all Melee) About 3 of the baddies will stick around to get punished by my SoJ, but the rest will run off and stand at the edge of aggro range for a few seconds, only to return just about when SoJ runs out. My question being, why do they run? The damage is not considered AoE since it strikes on attack not on adjacent enemies. Also, why do they run and other mobs stick around to take their licks? Has ANet put out anything to explain this that I have missed? I would like to find additional areas to farm as well, (for the sake of variety lol) and would like to know what the difference is to help in looking for that "spot".

^^ Teron, anymore than three melee mobs and all but three will run off. It's annoying, but that's the mechanic. Ranged mobs don't do that.

Anything that causes aoe and fluxes aoe within a few secs - ie firestorm for ele etc will cause scatter - usually this doesnt happen as much in nm but in hm its built into enemy ai.
Also foes in hm have a tendency to pull back and recover hp if it reaches a set % - bodyblocking works most of the time tho i have had a few slip out.
Now you say about soj - soj is a weird one , in nm it has a chance of splitting mobs but hm they will act like above , and tho its not classed as aoe gw seems to treat it as such.
Could be because if your in a mob being attack the damage tho sent back to attacker may be acting like aoe when say 10 foes attack at once - we dont know how enemy ai ( or gw itself ) identifies what is and what isnt aoe.
This also applies to sliver and retribution and holy wrath - weird lol.

Only way really to keep a target from scattering is to staff/axe/sword the target to keep him , if one wanders off then use staff to pull him back and i do hate chasing caster foes in hm just to try and kill them - nothing like a stray monk foe to screw the killing lol

Loot scaling if you wiki says its now down to party size and golds/greens/tomes/lockpicks are exempt from loot scaling and are basically luck of the draw.
Personally if im farming a certain zone i`ll do say 5 runs then go elsewhere and do 5 runs.
I`ll plan a sort of tour visiting maybe 5 or 6 zones and switch - that way i dont over farm and decrease drops - also its more fun with a variety.

As for the district switchin ive never seen less drops in an empty outpost - usually its roughly the same but remember even if you switch districts ur technically still farming same zone so again i dont know how gw handles it ( im sure its treated as same farm as other farmer would suggest district swapping when drops get bad )
