Hey, I've been looking for a Prot Bo Staff (Gold) for my monk, however, chances are no one will have one, so I've decided I'll try to farm one. I've checked wiki for places that drop the Bo Staff, but the only place I could find is the Jade Brotherhood outside of The Marketplace (330 rit, got 1 gold Bo Staff in about 5 hrs). I was wondering if anyone knows of a better place to farm Bo Staffs. I remember getting one (gold) from Minister Cho's Estate in HM, but that's about it. Any suggestions on how I would go about farming one would be appreciated immensely.

Ugly staff in my opinion, looks like an old mop handle.

Yea, I've already seen the spots on wiki. The thing I was looking for mainly I guess is a certain monster and build to farm them.

What I say about the wiki spots:

Luxon/Afflicted - Unknown or unfarmable
Naga/Sensali/Tengu - Slow or unfarmable
Am Fah Marksman - Unknown way of farming
Jade Brother Hood - quick run, but lacking in chance of drop
Siege Turtles - ?? lol
Kurzicks - unknown

Concerning the chance that a Gold Prot Bo Staff would drop, I have no idea but I could kinda figure:

Chance of dropping a gold Bo Staff: X**
Chance of being protection attribute: 1/21* (4.76%)
aptitude on attitude(prot)(non-insc): .0079***

X(.0476)(.0079)= X(0.00036893) for exact item.

Considering the rate that I have found a gold Bo Staff, I would say that X would be very small. Considering X as 1 (100%), a LOT bigger than I could estimate X as being, would still yield a .037% chance of obtaining one (If my math is right, correct me if I'm wrong). So, to increase my chances I'm looking for a spot with the highest possible X. At the moment, the only spot near farmable that I could obtain one at is Jade Brotherhood Knights outside Marketplace.

Hope this helps clarify my request/question. Should a better spot not be attainable, this thread could be closed.

*Because this is a universal staff I have included all other the possible attributes that the staff may possess (Correct me if I miscounted).

**I suppose I could somewhat calculate this by comparing the number of golds I get between Gold Bo staffs, then compare it to the overall rate of getting golds in general, idk.

*** Since this is not an inscription with "of item attribute" I've factored in all the possible attributes into this also.

EDIT: Yea, I've farmed the Halcyon Job before, but couldn't remember them dropping Bo Staffs, this should be a lot faster as I just found a q9 spawning Gold Bo Staff there, I can now start the count.

I'm a massive Bo Staff fan and have several R9 20/10s of different attributes. I've brought them from players seeing as I really don't know where to get them. I've been meaning to chest run the mobs that drop them, but the chances of a decent one dropping makes me shy away (still looking for that 20/20 R9 Fire :P). If you do find a decent place to farm, you should share it with us

Yea that's pretty much the biggest problem, getting a decent one. Yea my first gold Bo Staff was over a year ago, it was a Q9 fire (20/10) that I found at Minster Cho's Estate in HM, but I wasn't particularly looking for on at the time, just farming that mission for money. I actually sold it here on guru, I forget for how much. Here's a pic:

The reason this number is so small is simply because it is not inscribable. If it was inscribable, it would simply be X(.0476). But having factored the number of available inscriptions and the fact that they can be to different attributes makes the number even smaller. The chances of a 10% casting time on spells would be even less harder for me to find, since it does not vary in attribute.

This is probably the best route to go, simply because the number and rate you would kill enemies is fastest here ( I think). I've got like 4 sup vigors in the past 3 days trying for one of these staffs

EDIT: Just found my 3rd Gold Bo, I started counting golds after I found my 2nd, it was the 16th gold after my second at luxon sins. Not sure what that says about them but eh.

Try chest running Forbidden Chests, at errr Raisu Palace iirc, good amount there, had LOADS of perfects, but waste of space in my humble opinion.

ive had a few drop from ministers + the jade brotherhood mobs which can be farmed with a soj [or maybe the new roj] mantra resolve 55 mo/me

prob NM for a greater chance of retaining lock picks. but thats just me...HM has better stuff dropping
