Default Tengu Farming outside LA

This is what I use... maybe someone can use this info or even add to it.

I farm Tengu because they trade very well during events. 1 per item during Halloween and 2 per spiked eggnog during Wintersday, see wiki for more.

In about a half hour I typically get , 15-20 Feathered caromi scalps, as well as 30-60 feathers, 1-2 dyes, 1-3 golds 4-6 IDable runes plus hundreds of gold. I have estimated that other than scalps a run if worth 4K on average.

I use a War/Ele for this farming...
Weapon---Sundering(20/20) Chaos Axe(req 9) of Tenguslaying(+20%),
w/ Vengeance is Mine (+20% dmg v50% Health) Inscription
Shield--- Exlated Aegis (req 9 str) Armor 16, -5dmg (20%), +30 Health

Armor- Helm +1 Axe Mastery
-- Radiant & Minor Axe Mastery
-- Knight's & Major Vigor
-- Radiant & Minor Tactics
-- Knight's & Minor Strength

Spells
F1--Health Signet
F2--Power Attack (Energy based) or Penetrating Chop (Adrenaline based)
F3--Executioners Strike (Adrenaline based)
F4--Triple Chop (Elite)
F5--Cyclone (Energy based) or Whirlwind (Adrenaline based)
F6--Inferno (Fire) or Aftershock (Earth)
F7--Sprint or Rush (Adrenaline based) In case things get hairy!!!
F8--Armor of Earth

Typical skills
Earth-3 (use aftershock and Earth can be cranked up)
Fire-7
Axe Mastery-13
Strength-9
Tactics-7

Most groups of Tengu have 1-2 scouts/wild and 2-3 braves. I go at Wild 1st or Scouts 2nd. When braves surround i hit Inferno, then Armor of Earth. Then interchange Triple Chop, Health and Cyclone Axe. The key is to have some patience, it's difficult to survive fighting a group of more than 4 or 5. Also try not to use Armor of Earth first as you can get knocked down and the spell is wasted and with a 30 second recharge time for Armor of Earth it can be to late. Hence why Keep Sprint on hand.

If you got Candy Apples or Birthday Cupcakes go ahead and use more Energy based skill as they are usually more effective. Otherwise keep more Adrenaline based at hand.

I tried an Axe with Furious (10/10) and more Adrenaline based skills and felt they do not open back up quickly enough to make the skills useful!

Because most of the tengu do physical damage you're much better off just using Physical Resistance from the mesmer secondary. Your killing speed won't be lower because your build will become a lot less energy stressed then when using Fire or Earth mastery spells from the elementalist secondary.
Try to add in Lion's comfort instead of healing signet because it's a lot more beneficial in case of healing. also try to put in an ias and your adrenalin gain should be enough to constantly heal your self without the downside of the -40 armor from healing signet.

Build:
Lion's comfort
Physical resistance
Attack skill
Attack skill
attack skill
Flail
Sprint
Optional

Somewhere around this and you should be fine.

Hope this helps.

Yes. Normal mode.

Thanks bart. i'm about to ascend this charecter and have mostly been thinking of monk as a second, mainly because i've never used a mesmer. Whats a good area spell from mesmer spell that'd work.

I also farm this area, mainly just the area directly north of D'alessio seaboard, i use either a N/M or N/Me mainly relying on spiteful spirit/arcane echo, insideous parasite, enfeebling blood and some kind of minion skill ,usually create shambling horror.

What i'm saying is that you actually don't need any spells just attack skills.
Spells like inferno or aftershock cost way to much energy for a warrior. so ur better off using attack skills.

If ur going warrior Monk then I'd suggest using Healing Hands as ur elite to heal yourself. Instead of Physical resistance take dolyaks signet and your done.

A general minion master build with healing breeze farms these quite well. A N/D with aura of the lich, infuse conditions, dark bond and mystic regen with minion spells would probably work just as well. these are both for nm btw.

For hm, this works wonders: http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:A/...Daggers_Farmer
Just gotta be careful when fighting the sword tengu, riposte goes thru shadow form.

I just use my A/E pools build with Glyph of Swiftness instead of IAU, works great.

Then again, that thing can farm everything which is Shadow Form'able.

If I'm ever getting low on feathers this is the build I use (HM of course);
OwZjgwf84QSf8I6MulID5i8QpiA
[Glyph of Swiftness][deadly paradox][shadow form][radiation field][glyph of lesser energy][ebon battle standard of honor][sliver armor]["by ural's hammer!"]

I leave from D'Alessio Seaboard as it's closer. I pull into 2 general mobs, one to the south west, and the second to the north east near the boss spawn.
Gather and stand between rangers and mesmers so radiation hits everyone.
I use a zealous scythe & target melee.
chain 5,6,7,8 then once enough energy is gained, 4 (should be about 15 seconds after 8, so the attack chains alternate each other)
Runs take about 12 minutes, kills about 45 or so. If I remember correctly; at least a stack an hour of feathers.

I tend to use something like the following

Glyph of Switness
Deadly Paradox
Shadowform
Jagged Strike
Signet of Infection
Wild Strike
Death Blossom
Critical Agility

Signet of infection will spread desease to everyone once they are balled up and death blossom just does the killing. I tend not to use Sliver Armor just because the Rangers have Armor VS Earth Dmg and it gets slower killing them once most of them are dead.

[[Physical Resistance] and [[Flail] are both Stances. Try having 2 up at the same time. Take your pick between one or the other, either increased armor or IAS.

While Dolyak Signet can be used to increase your armor, since there is no fear of KD, why are you going to take a -75% IMS? Armor doesn't decrease degen, and those Wilds aren't going to stand there and let you hack them down. They'll kite while you turtle-step trying to get in range to hit them with your Sword/Axe.

Wouldn't farming gargoyles be more efficient? 2 skulls to 1 spiked eggnog. Right outside of Nolani academy. They are a lot lower level and almost all their damage comes from degen which can easily be negated with a regen.

i did it as 600/smite
you need 16 devine favor, spell breaker, arcane echo, that enchatment that causes monk enchatment to last longer and an 20% enchanting weapon and than you can keep spell breaker up forever

I use to farm the Tengu outside D'Alessio Seaboard for the feathers until someone here pointed out that the Tengu in Jaya Bluffs (outside Seitung Harbor) give a slightly better drop rate in a shorter amount of time (in normal mode).
The special events drops make farming Caromi more profitable, though.

I've been farming this area in HM for over a year now, making tons of cash with feathers.

About 120-180 feathers per run (7.5k-9k per stack when prices were more volatile, depends on weekend dungeon bonus events...) Tons of gold drops and loot alone is worth some 3-5k per run.

Can take a while though...
