I've decided that it's time to move a lot of my caster heroes over to 20% enchanting spears.

So, I say to myself, "let's go farm me a buncha green spears," only to discover that the only green spear with 20% enchanting is the NF endgame spear. Not farmable. Worse yet, lightning damage, so not usable with orders or barbs/MoP. So much for that...

That leaves me with either buying a bunch of spear enchant mods, or farming for them. I want to try farming them, but, problem is, I can't think of anyplace where gold spear drops are a frequent thing.

Does anyone have a suggestion for what to farm for spear mods?

So far I've tried...
...the monkeys in Baddock Caverns --> squat
...the Djinn in Hidden City --> 1 purple spear
...the bugs outside Sunspear Hall --> squat

Most likely easiest thing to do is to try vsf or some other profitable farm and then buy all the mods you need.

my idea would be farm paragon bosses, in my head it seems like they would drop gold spears with salvageable mods on them.

but thats only my idea, haven't tested it.

Tbh paragons are fairly scarce so it'd be hard to find enough of them to get a decent farm going, and even then the chance of getting one is very small. Farming the cash and buying them would probably be easier.

Spamadin, or farm EotN chests for gold spears. Or, buy drok/whatever key for 7-10k, and redo final quest for chest...

This is THE mod, should sell for 7-10k alone LOL, I've only found 1 so far (found 20 r9 gold max insc spears). What does it go for?

The only paragon boss that I think would be decent to farm is Jishol Darksong. He's right outside of an outpost and is the first group you encounter.

Farm something more profitable and buy the mods.

Yeah, if you don't have any Req 9 gold spears, buy some in LA or Kam and buy the correct mods. On the other hand, I have gotten my fair share of spears from chests or just doing missions and quests. And, there are a lot of perfect mods on the higher req versions that you could easily salvage. I'm surprised you don't have any. I would offer to sell you a couple, but, I'm going away for 2 weeks and won't be in game.

I prefer using staffs because I can stand farther away to cast spells. +20 Energy and 20% enchant. Actually, I switch off between the 2. I suppose with a spear you could use a shield. It's a matter of preference. I use an offhand with my spear.

I never use greens and I dread getting them as a drop because I've found they are hard to sell. With golds, I can change mods if I need to.

You could try the tusked howler guys early in NF. They are around yohlon heaven I think. All I can think of really.

Perma on Forum Highlands , go and talk to the elemental hunt guy and kill al P , H and D ( including boss there ) and next Elemental Ele boss . Rinse and repeat , good chance of getting spears and Scythes and you get LB points.
