Default Elementalist solo scale farming

[pre][E/Me;OgVEMKSJzHJ9pN8VZCwCuEYD6WC][/pre]

I don't know if it is me but gwBBCode doesn't seem to be working so here are the skills and atts:
Glyph of Swiftness, Obsidian Flesh, Stoneflesh Aura, Channeling, Ether Nightmare, Arcane Echo, Cry of Pain, Radiation Field.

Earth Magic: 12+1+3
Energy Storage: 7+1
Air Magic: 4
Inspiration Magic: 10

This is what I use to farm Chromatic Drakes just outside Central Transfer Chamber in Normal Mode. Head towards the Heart of the Shiverpeaks portal and the Drakes are in the 1st room on the right. There are 3 groups, just keep going deeper.

Start maintaining GoS, ObFlesh, and Stoneflesh Aura when you get in range. Keep them up as you gather aggro from the 3 groups. Once you have them aggroed pull them back to the doorway and then cast Channeling. Get closer, but not right next to them, and cast Ether Nightmare, Arcane Echo, CoP, CoP, then Radiation Field. You should only have to recast that sequence one more time.

Done right the whole run only takes about 2-3 minutes and can net as many as 5 scales. I have gotten some dyes and golds too but they are rare.

What i done was take these skills:

Mantra of Earth
Glyph of Swiftness
Obsidian Flesh
Stone Striker
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of the Earth
Tenai's Crystals
Crystal Wave

And then i entered "A Gate too Far" in HM with a full team, took out the Whirling guys, and then flagged my team off compass, and then continued to aggro the drakes, whilst maintaining the enchants + stance, and then spammed the two AoE skills. Its very slow going, but i got 4 chromes in 1 run, and 3 in the other, and took about 7-15 minutes-ish.

on average i have been getting 3 scales per 2-3 minute run
also this is by no means the best farming build out there for this...but i don't have a monk there and my ele is really the only char that is able to farm well.

Not only that, but at 1k per scale, 20 runs/hour, 3/run average, you're talking 60k JUST for the scales. Interesting for something different in the short term...

I have been selling them for 1.5k ea. on top of taking guildies on runs.
So it has worked out nicely for me

Do the scales salvage into scales? Thats a common material I'm always after for many different armor sets, it'd be nice to have a halfway decent farm to acquire them.

If you want scales you'd be better off farming those and selling them to people then buying common scales with your gold.
