Thumbs up 600ss / Spell Breaker Smite - Quick NM/HM Dualing Underworld Farming! (image heavy)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey There!

So after reading Fuzzy Taco's awesome post about Necro Farming, I tried farming the UW. I came up with this build; it's as a blend of my TOD Builds & the standard Duo 55 SS. Another good source for of inspiration has been Cerb's Art of Underworld.

With Ogden, I've cleared: Labyrinth, Wastes, Vale, Mountains, Plains and Pools. In HM I've cleared Labyrinth, Wastes, Vale, Mountains. I'm still in testing for this build, I still have to figure out the pits; hero management is holding me back( having a human smite should make the pits quite do-able). Does that mean you can clear the UW with this? I don't know, I think there's more but I haven't got there yet, perhaps someone nice can post to clarify.

I've only gone into the UW like 10 times now. (5 as a Wa/Rt) so please don't ask questions about; times and how do you complete such and such a quest. Though I will update this page as people post, or as I figure it out on my own. As far as fast goes, yes it's fast; I slow this build down... a lot...

Ok enough of that, on to the good stuff

Skills
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the build as it's stands now, you'll notice it's different than the screencaps. I think this will work better, I doubt I'll update the screens.
16 Curses, 3 Soul Reaping, 12 Prot
[card]Spirit Bond[/card][card]Shield of Absorption[/card][card]Protective Spirit[/card][card]Insidious Parasite[/card][card]Spiteful Spirit[/card][card]Suffering[/card][card]Vital Blessing[/card][card]Essence Bond[/card]
Template: OANDYzxPPax7a9YPkHYDhE9B
Optional Skills
Suffering may be replaced with; Desecrate Enchantments, pain inverter, radiation field, I am unstoppable etc...

[card]Blessed Signet[/card][card]Arcane Echo[/card][card]Spell Breaker[/card][card]Holy Wrath[/card][card]Retribution[/card][card]Balthazar's Spirit[/card][card]Blessed Aura[/card][card]Rebirth[/card]
Template: OwUS4YIHpcJRMf4TeAUm
Optional Skills
Arcane Echo may be replaced with; glyph of swiftness, glyph of lesser energy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Equipment
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starter Armor, or as low as you can go. Mine is 15.
5 Survivor inscriptions, 3 runes of vitae and a Sup Vigor, and a headpiece with curses+1+3
Spirit of the Forgotten & Nehpek's Focus
Golden Boar Scepter & Nehpek's Focus (an enchanting prot staff or curses staff would probably be more usefull.)

16 Smite / 16 Devine (runes can be salvaged and swapped) ot just be lazy and leave one on chest.
Enchanted Staff on Ogden.
Energy Swapping gear if human Smite.

Consumeables.
Stuff to get rid of your DP and a Scroll of Resurrection in case Ogden dies. Some that boost your health, can also be at times usefull, though as your health increases, SpB heals for less per trigger.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I'm going to give you the gist of it, and let the images do the talking. First off it's easy, so easy even I can do it. Essentially this is a 600/Smite build with perks (SS), but at certain points, it's easier to drop some enchantments and to cast certain spells. I'm going to do that instruction by monster. Also all instruction are for NM.
HM specific instructions: They move faster, so by agroeing with SS you might not have time to cast SOA before you get interupted (grasps). Groups larger than 3 will scatter, so wand em back. The Mindblades tend to pick up agro on Ogden if he enter's their agro circle (this I'm working on).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Bladed Aatxes

Flag Ogden well back
Cast SpellBreaker on yourself, PS, SS, SpB, SOA & IP if you can.
No need to draw out the interupts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Graspings

Flag Ogden well back
Cast SpellBreaker on yourself, PS, SS, SpB, attack with spear (draw out interupts), SOA. Don't cast anything else. However if you cast SpB too soon, you might have to renew. Everything should be dead in one PS.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Dying Nightmare

HM, if you loose enchants, cast PS and IP, if SB is up, ignore, it will wand itself to death.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 Smites

Flag Ogden well back
PS, agro, SpB, SOA, Suffering, wait for smite hex, SS and cover with IP, maintain SpB and SOA, cover with sufferning as needed.
However, SS isn't needed to kill smites.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 Coldfires

Flag Ogden well back
Cast SpellBreaker on yourself, PS, SS, pick another target and cast IP, SOA & IP as needed, if there are more than 2, cast a second SS on the third Coldfire.
If they don't die in one SB, watchout for Maelstrom. Just run out of it's way.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 Obsidian Behemoth

Flag Ogden well back, out of range of spirit.
Drop Vital Blessing and Essence bond. Maintain Ogdens.
You'll need your wand or staff for this portion. The Obsidians will ignore you if you aren't attacking with a decent weapon.
PS, SS, SpB, IP. Then IP as needed, SpB if desparate. If it is close to death, choose another for IP, as it is your main heal.
Keep wanding your target, it interupts their heal.
Don't pick up your stuff right away, the traps will kill you (I always for get this).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 Charged Blackness

Flag Ogden well back
Cast SpellBreaker on yourself, PS, SS, pick another target and cast IP, SOA & IP as needed, if there are more than 2, cast a second SS on the third Blackness.
They can be a pain with the knockdowns, keep up PS and IP as much as possible SS if you can spare it.
To counter their knockdowns, cast your spell when you are on the ground, so you cast as soon as you stand.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 Banished Dream Rider

Flag Ogden well well back
Cast SpellBreaker on yourself, PS, SS, IP, IP as needed, be aware that Mindblades will spawn on it's death, and be aware WHERE they will spawn.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9 Mindblade Spectre

Flag Ogden well well back
Disable Blessed Signet, get over 30 Energy for Ogden.
Run up toward Group, Arcane Echo, Cast SpellBreaker on yourself (so Ogden runs toward you), PS, SS.

Run back to wards Ogden, who should be near his flag by now. Press 'f' while running to select yourself. Cast the echoed SB on yourself. Ogden should again run toward you to cast. Once he is casting. CAST SpB, SOA and another SS. They should be on you and fully attacking.

Ogden should then auto return to his flagged position free of agro.
Because you are essentially pulling the group, if you die, they won't stay over you, so you will be an easy rebirth.
be aware that More Mindblades will spawn on their death, so be aware WHERE they will spawn.

Essentially we're getting an extra 6-7 seconds out of SB by casting the echo, before they attack (and ogden looses the energy).
note:
If you are using a human smite, try dropping holy wrath. and just echo SB to maintain a constant SB - see terrorweb technique.
I first fought the mindblades in HM, so that's why I was afraid to try the terrorweb technique and I also hadn't gotten to the terrorwebs to know there was a technique :-) Once I go back, I'll figure out what works and what doesn't.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10 Terrorweb

Flag Ogden quite close (just outside your bubble)
Disable Blessed Signet, get over 30 Energy for Ogden.
Run up toward Group, Arcane Echo, Cast SpellBreaker on yourself (so Ogden runs toward you), PS, SS, IP, run back close to Ogden, who should be at his flag by now. Press 'f' while running to select yourself. Cast the echoed SB on yourself once the other has reached the 1/3 recharge (see image). Enable Blessed Signet, so Ogden can self cast it.

Cast SS, IP and PS as needed, concentrate on Ogden and maintaining SB.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11 Bone Pits

I didn't have much success with the bone pits, so I went to the spawning pools instead. However I think the technique for dealing with the Spawning pools, (continual SB) would work, it's just that in those tight spaces, the chained souls were messing with Ogden.
Flag Ogden quite close (just outside your bubble)
Disable Blessed Signet, get over 30 Energy for Ogden.
Run up toward Group, Arcane Echo, Cast SpellBreaker on yourself (so Ogden runs toward you), PS, SS, SpB, IP, run back close to Ogden, who should be at his flag by now. Press 'f' while running to select yourself. Cast the echoed SB on yourself once the other has reached the 1/3 recharge (see first image on terrorweb). Enable Blessed Signet, so Ogden can self cast it.

Cast SS, IP and PS as needed, concentrate on Ogden and maintaining SB.

Thanks for the mention but to be honest I don't think this build is efficient. You can CLEAR uw with the same two professions in both NM and HM, much faster and safer.

- Basically, you are just using both characters to deal damage. Obviously, monsters should die faster. However, if you take into account the time it takes to wait after each group for the smiter to regen enough energy to move onto the next, it quickly cancels out that advantage (mainly applies to Labyrinth & Ice Wastes).

- Bone Pits can be very dangerous without a constant Spellbreaker. The monsters have life stealing for one, and Chained Souls are another problem. Now, in theory, you should be able to kill one group before Spellbreaker wears of. In Hard mode you have to remember that >3 melee = run away, and also you have to take into account cast times from monsters. For instance, Dead Collectors will raise minions from corpses and cast Well of Power, both of which take some time to cast, during which they aren't attacking (thus taking no damage). Of course, if you get rended you can run away and recast all your enchantments, but that's not very efficient.

- Clearing Chaos Planes will be quite a job too. You cannot keep a constant Spellbreaker on, so you have to kill one group, move back, wait until Spellbreaker recharges, go in again, etc. Also, forget that area in Hard Mode. You will need a constant Spellbreaker because groups of 6 and especially 9 Mindblades won't die in 28s (duration for 16DF SB with Blessed Aura + 20% wep). If you try to drop the Smite to keep a constant SB on (in normal like in hard mode), you will get the first SB off but once you have came in range to cast something, the next thing you will attempt to cast will be interrupted.

We have cleared UW in Hard Mode in 3:45 (how long did it take you?) with the following build:

Mo/E Tank (Yes Arcane Echo would work too)
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill] [skill]Spirit Bond[/skill] [skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill] [skill]Glyph of Swiftness[/skill] [skill]Spell Breaker[/skill] [skill]Life Bond[/skill] [skill]Essence Bond[/skill] [skill]Blessed Aura[/skill]

N/Mo Smiter (Yes Mo/N would work too)
[skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill] [skill]Insidious Parasite[/skill] [skill]Defile Defenses[/skill] [skill]Holy Wrath[/skill] [skill]Retribution[/skill] [skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill] [skill]Vital Blessing[/skill] [skill]Rebirth[/skill]

Oh cmon now cerb
I see it perfectly efficient if he can do it fast, as it says FARM in the title of the thread.
He's not going for clearing quests as well as all areas, besides the bonepits seem to give over less ectoplasm than most places...
I would actually choose his build over yours due to the fact that I never have anyone to play with ...If I can do it by myself with a hero I will

That way I can do my myspace breaks, phone breaks, practice breaks, sleep breaks, food breaks, bathroom breaks, any break you can think of; without holding anyone up.

Great alternative, and if you can perfect the build even further I will be trying it....2 weeks from now.

Nice job on the Necro/Smite job!

As soon as I quit dieing because of Nightmares, I'll post some successful 800/Warrior/smite screenshots/guide/whatever. I do fine until a unexpected nightmare pops up.

Necrosmite has been used for quite some time. It's a more solid template than a pure smiter because some enemies are less convenient to kill with smite.

For the Terrorweb, yeah it might be faster if you are clearing the monuments, but, in the pools I find the continual SB to be worth it. SS and IP add up fast when they are nice and stacked up :-)

As for time, when I cleared it, I took forever as I left it overnight, and finished the next day :-) Hero's are patient that way I did the quests in the most inefficient way, and I was overly cautious as it was the furthest in to the UW I'd been. I think you'll get 2-6 ecto per run.

The bone pits are actually pretty easy, you just need to watch your hero placement. Clear as much as you can above, from the paths below.

This build can also do FOW and TOD runs, not sure if it can clear FOW, as I haven't had a chance to try.

If anybody get any good times, post em, I'm interested to see how fast it is.

I like mo/n rather than n/mo - i may lose dmg with ss but the extra points can be used in keeping the tank alive via vital blessing. We have to remember the smite monks main duty is keep tank alive then as dmg dealer in standard 600 build.
Im one of those where one prof can be better than another in certain situations but in others it changes - eg 55 mo/n and 55 n/mo

essence bond gives you energy; check the screenshots for how the enchants are setup. I explain the whole 600/SBsmite thing here a bit better.
SpB is Spirit Bond, sry that's a bit confusing I shoulda used SBo
