I was fooling around with diffrent builds to farm some scales for my gifts this week. After several fails *including 1 with a toucher and some hero monks, trust me dont ask* i have come to the conclusion that i cant build a good farming build. Then i look on the PvX site and found squatto that works for the drakes. So i was sondering if there were any rangers out there who have found the magic combo of skills/heros/prayers that is capable of doing this farm. I have all the skills unlocked and all avaible heros. Any help would be much appericated.

Im looking for a ranger only build. For some reason this was moved to farming. My monk and sin are still in factions.

I think will approach interrupt build with roj-heroes & heal-henches. But in general I badly understand rangers.

600/smite it I got the 10 scales i Needed in about 15 min. Use fleeting stability to avoid the KD's and it is very simple.

I farmed them with my derv and a bonder hero.

For the derv just take vow of silence and a bunch of attack skills.

For the hero monk just take life barrier and life bond + whatever other maintained enchantments you want.

It takes about 10 minutes to kill 6 groups, and you usually get 1 scale a group.

Enter Battledepths from the Central Transfer Chamber and turn right. There will be three groups of drakes in that series of chambers. If you want more, go back to where the wisps are and head towards the HoS entrance, which will take you near several more groups. Otherwise, just go back to CTC and keep farming the three closest groups.

Another alternative is to go to the HoS entrance and repeatedly clear the drakes in that cave, zoning into HoS and back to respawn them.

Basicly the old Fahranur Mo/D build that does the undeads + the plant boss. It's (at least was) somewhere in these forums.

This is the problem with a policy of farming thread vs profession thead. OP asks for ranger suggestions and all you get is perma/55/smite replies!

The good news is that this isn't a strong candidate for solo farming as these drops are hit with the loot nerf, so the benefits of going solo aren't so great. Just load up with full H/H team and farm the 6 groups in battledepths entered from central transfer chamber. You should get 1-2 per run.

This is easily done with infinite SB 600. Enough said. I've made my share of 75 of these scales.

600/smite ftw ^^. Use Arcane Echo-Spell Breaker and BS instead of LA on smiter. Also take PI cuz one of the drakes will be on earth and under Stoneflesh Aura. I made 10 Skales in 2 runs. One run took me about 7min and the other 8. So it's quite fast. I've killed all the Drake groups. First 3 on right side and the other 3 on the way to the HoS.

to the OP, may not be helpful at this point...but, I was in the same boat..couldn't figure out the right mix for my ranger (CtC - Battledepths groups).....I ended up with a party of 5: me (BhA+epidemic+Great Dwarf Weapon+EBSH+PI+D-Shot+Savage+Needling) + Koss, Devona, Dunk, Melonni...just GDW the melee before entering. BHA the middle of the mob + epidemic...the dazed and kd was enough to keep pressure (burning, etc) off the party seeing as Dunk was all alone. Honestly, though in the middle of 4th run with this party, a guildie spit out the Mo/D build which I had forgotten about since farming colossals in zehlon reach! and I just took my monk solo and got 10 scales in 2 runs...

I used 3 different options, i'll list them slowest to fastest, i farmed 72 scales in 2 hours.

Build/Skill Codes are currently not working? so i didnt post builds, but they're all pretty generic

First was a 55 monk w/ RoJ, it was pretty slow, as it took two roj's to kill 1 drake.

Second was my rit and rit hero, me being a MM and my hero being a spirit spammer/buffer

me:
boon, explosive growth, jagged, minions, vanguard sin, ice imp(for snare and decent aoe dmg, plus he's buffed by hero rit) death nova + putrid

hero:
boon, blood song, disenchant, dissonance, shadowsong, wanderlust, splinter, anquish

surprisingly, this worked well, i died 2 times figuring out the best way to pull them, but once i picked my aggro spots, it worked very well, and pretty quick, used the hero to set up spirit wall, and carefully pulled drakes to their doom.

third, by far the best way out of the 3 options, took 3-5 mins, to kill all drakes in battledephs.

Me: 600 rit
spirit bond, prot spirit, VwK, Vengeful Weapon, Pain inverter, Rad Field, LoD, Essence bond

heros: 1 bonder w/ spell breaker and 1 smiter w/ weapon of quickening
