Hi, thanks for looking through this thread.

I am trying to think of a farming run designed to obtain a maximum number of q0-q3 inscribable items. So far I have had little success getting anything out of it. Specifically, I'm looking for inscribable shields that will allow me to run 12-12-3. Blue, purple, gold, it doesn't matter.

So I need bunches of enemies that are likely to produce this loot, and I don't know where to go. The build itself is no problem, I can always think of something.

Any ideas?

I would simply suggest trying popular HM farming spots in Istan. Fahranur Skales look promising being bunched up and easily AOEable. Maybe chestruning in 4-man areas.

While you are at it, try to keep records of maximum values for each req you get and put em to wiki.

I was going to ask if q3 shields broke the AL8 mark. If not, then the whole farm becomes pointless because you could use an easily obtained max shield and get the same result.

But, then I saw this on the wiki:

The main question is whether it is possible to find a q0-3 shield that's inscribable and al9+.

I'd farm the scale in Fahranur. Low-level afflicted might drop some shields, don't know if they will be inscribable though. Otherwise, try butchering low-level corsairs too (don't know if they drop shields).

Are you more likely these kind of drops in NM? I have an R4 Tactics Great Conch that dropped for me raptor farming in NM back in the day with AR13.

Beknur Harbor might be good, only problem is the need for a NF character (for me). Or I have to make a paragon farming build

I believe what your looking for is a Wintergreen Shield

I thought wintergreen shields only had an AL of 8, meaning there's no advantage to using that over a max shield with high req?

I have found many in the Glints Challenge. Not above 8 armor tho... only blue inscribable 8 armor shields (req 0).

I have an inscr q6 armor14 tactics (dropped for me). Inscr Q7 comes with armor15 and Q8 is armor16 (and as I see someone has a q4 with armor13, although we don't know if it is inscr). Going by this, q3 would be perhaps armor 12, maybe even less? The actual damage reduction from an additional 4 armor is ~5%. I am not saying this is not significant...but I don't know any build where 12,11,6 won't cut it and you must have 12,12,3. That said...I doubt you can buy q6 shields...ppl just don't notice low lvl items, even if they pick them up, it goes to merch. Especially if it is a shield, lol, it is ridiculous that low req shields, which are actually very useful, have the fraction of the market value of low req weapons.

Off the top of my head, N Curses with Foul Feast 12+1+1 Curses 12+1 SR to meet SR13 breakpoint for FF e return.

q0 shields could obviously be used by any profession/subprofession.

Although I have never seen an inscr q0 shield, my guess is, it is armor 10, and +2 armor is pretty insignificant...especially if you compare the time spent on reading forums/playing your build and the time needed to farm these things (the a whole set!). Ideally, we could buy these items if they were not so rare and ppl realized that there might be a market for it, but that is not the case. Btw, if you could buy these shields, how much would you pay for them?

It'd be easier to name a price if we had any sort of idea about the rarity of these items, and also if a q10 inscribable even exists.

For me, the value might be around 50k, but it's all depending on the answer to the above question.

I've had 0 or low requirement shields drop from Charr in Old Ascalon. I believe I had a 0 req. AR 9 Reinforced Buckler at one point, but I merched it when I got the AR 10 Wintersday quest rewards. We all know how those turned out. That shield dropped from a Charr. If I were to look for these, I think the Charr Invaders quest might be a good spot. Some of my characters still have that quest. There are 2 mobs of 10 melee each that are quite easy to kill, and I ran out there with my 55 N/Mo to kill them. Got many req. 0-6 items, some of them inscribable. Only a few shields, and none so far meet your criteria, but I only ran out 5 times or so. Target the level 20 Bladestorm with [[Savage Slash] first. [[Spoil Victor], [[Necrosis] yielded more drops, but [[Spiteful Spirit] killed in less than half the time, making it more efficient. SS runs were 2 minutes when I typed /age.

I realize this quest is part of a chain, and keeping it makes acquiring [[Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support] impossible.

I was thinking the same thing, or maybe even using those encoded scrolls quests (too bad I sold a buttload of them for 200g/e a while back). I was gunna try to throw together some sort of ELE build, as that's my only character that hasn't completed that quest yet...
