Default Starting 55 Monk, Prophecies or Nightfall?

I'm getting back into Guild Wars again and I bought the trilogy pack so I have the first three campaigns. I'm starting a M/W with the intention to make a 55 monk. Is it necessary for me to start the monk in Prophecies to get the -50 grim cesta, or will I be able to complete the "Cities of Ascalon" Quest if I started in Nightfall?

No, the Cities of Ascalon quest is only available to Prophecies made characters. So if you start your monk in NF, you'll have to purchase a -50 cesta.

Start in Nf way easier... proph too long and you can buy most skills in LA anyway. And run all the way in proph while NF can't be runned.

I Started A 55Monk From Prophicies And Reached Lvl20 And Finished The Storyline In Around A Week... So Its Not That Slow Lol.

Also Some Good Areas To Farm In Proph And Saves The 5k+ Cost For The Cesta.

Markus.

well you can get to the cities of ascalon quest in a matter of hours if you are smart. but without the grim thing there is no 55 monk.

if U start in prophecies U will have to grind the whole campaign to get missing attribute points. Start in NF and U will get tthem in few hrs.

Depending on how much money you have I would start in Proph. Then you can get the -50 cesta right away and if you have the money you can pay for runs through the rest of the campaign and any skills you think you may need. The key is the cesta. If you can't find one then there is no 55ing. I would play it safe get the cesta and deal with getting runs or whatever. Once you get to LA you can get to NF so it shouldn't be that long anway. The attribute quests will be the biggest pain in the ass but if you can get runs or have a good guild to play through the missions it still shouldn't take that long. I would estimate if you have the time to sit and play it can be done over a weekend.

If the only reason to start in Proph is the -50 cesta, then make another character that you want to have start in Proph and let it collect the cesta for you along the way. Unless the only thing you want to play is the 55hp monk...

Yeah def go NF. And remember to SAVE YOUR STARTER ARMOR!!!!! If you ever want to go 600 (which many good farm builds use), that starter armor is the best, and you can't get it back later on (quick explanation: the 600 build works best with the lowest AR, and you can't get anything as low as what you start with).

It's much faster to get to the tasty farming areas starting in NF than in Proph, and you can buy the -50 cesta without much difficulty.

There is a quest in NF that only a NF character can do. Well if you wait till level 20 and comeback and do it in hardmode you can get good drops but do not go to the chest at the end ever otherwise you will finish the quest. Mutu, the Oldest Child

Also tip toe around the son so he does not follow you "follow the wall"
